Chapter 67: Red Thread of Fate

"Is everyone here?" Asked Jeanist as he examined all of the citizens that seemed to stretch out as far as the eye could see, at the beach and past the long road toward the town.

Haru who stayed atop a tree, helped Shinso up into the branches and gave him some space to sit next to her. Endeavor stood proudly with his hands on his hips and his signature stoic face watching every inch of the sky, whilst Hawks simply yawned.

"Looks like it," Tiredness reflected in Hawk's eyes with a slump of his shoulders, to him it was rather upsetting that all of the citizens and U.A. students had to evacuate. It made the whole area, including the road that stretched for miles, look absolutely crowded.

Even Kyoshi who hid in the ocean close to the edge of the beach, watched the people wander back and forth. Pure worry fell on many faces he saw, but his own fear of being seen by them caused him to stay beneath the salty water.

"Hey-- Kyoshi!" Through the people came Snipe with his hat held down no thanks to the small gust that tried to push it off. "Let's chat," He knew the Crock was in the water, he didn't bother to look since he pretty much knew why he was hidden and crouched close to the water's edge. Slowly from the top of the surface peeked his spiked hair and sharp slits like a Crocodile in a swamp. "Principle Nezu appointed me to be your tutor. I figured I'd introduce myself while we're all gathered here. It'd be kind of a waste of an opportunity. You can call me Snipe," Despite his elbows propped on his knees, still crouched, a hand outstretched to offer him a shake. His expression would be impossible to discern considering the mask he had, but the tone he used was as if he spoke to a student.

Cautiously, out of the water came Wani in all of his muscular and scaly glory. He had stopped at the edge of the sand and averted his gaze when he accepted his handshake. No reply, no comment, just a grumble from the beast was all he wanted to give since the trust was hard to earn or come by.

"I get it. Don't worry, I'm not about to toss you over the edge and leave ya, you deserve another chance with a clean slate," This time the hero stood up fully and watched Kyoshi make his way out of the ocean to a full stand. His height was incredible, towering over his own five foot and eleven inches.

Still no answer, nonetheless he gestured for him to follow and didn't have to look behind him while he walked through the crowd of citizens. Whispers and murmurs echoed which were all directed towards the hotheaded beast, the fearful whimpers made it unbearable to hear. 'Why is he with him', 'That's the murderer!', and 'He's the one who put heroes in the hospital!'. Many comments flew through both of their ears until Snipe looked at them all, which immediately shut them up.

"I'd appreciate it if all of you would keep the comments to yourselves. This poor guy's been through way more than you realize, he's the victim in this situation," Anger boiled in Snipe's mind when he watched them all shamefully avert their attention. With satisfaction, he nodded to himself and gave Wani a quick peek.

Astonishment lit up Kyoshi's eyes, for he'd never had anyone stand up for him like that before, especially no hero. Regardless of the silenced crowd, he continued to follow the shorter male and felt completely puzzled by his relaxed form. The hell? Why's he not afraid of me? Most people would be! Not even a small hint of hesitation or unease from his movements! His confusion slowly turned into anger, which mixed into frustration and knitted his brows.

"Here," On a rock in a corner, he sat and tossed a soda in his direction, just to see the Crock's large hand catch it without fail. Snipe took note of the intent glare as he popped open his own drink and lifted his mask slightly, so he could sip. "Ya gotta trust some people, you know? Not all of us heroes are jerks. Have a seat-- the fight around U.A. may take a while," It would've been relaxing to sit and watch the moving clouds, but the distant explosions made it all too difficult to chill.

Wani, however, looked down at the soda and back at the hero who didn't even return the stare. Contemplating, nonetheless, with a faint thud he sat down cross-legged and popped open the drink.

Haru who was next to Shinso in a tall tree, used her quirk so she could see and watched the two titans near U.A battle it out. UV-Ray... Her parted lips and astonished slits showed how scared she was for possibly losing her best friend, that was until a warm hand laid on top of hers that remained gripped to the branch.

"Don't worry, I bet she'll be fine. She's got the heart of a hero, a hero you helped her create. If it wasn't for you pushing her into applying for the school, she wouldn't be here right now. Instead, she'd be a walking disaster controlled by that cybernetic freak of nature. Technically, you saved her from getting completely ruined since her willpower is much stronger and... If she became that walking disaster-- heroes would've had to destroy her," Hitoshi's purple eyes looked over into her bewildered green ones that didn't affect him anymore. She... She's so beautiful. Her eyes literally sparkled now that I managed to see past the fearful effect it gives. Red dusted his cheeks the more he stared, although despite his heated face he saw how his words moved her. "You're already a hero... So don't ever call yourself a villain," This time he couldn't prevent his sweet smile, for he watched her whip her head away to hide the tears that threatened to fall. In his hand he felt hers clench tighter on the branch, so he knew from there that she was fighting the urge to cry.

I... Saved her? I saved her?! I... I'm a hero? Over and over again her heart throbbed, those very words she always wanted to hear finally were given to her. But to know she was already a hero before even realizing it was causing her own heart to ache. "I... I'm... A hero? I can't be! I can't be, I'm not even a proper student in U.A since I've been absent often or looked up to by any citize-" When she whipped her head towards him, something soft and warm touched her lips. His lips on hers, sweet and gentle, held so much of one particular emotion that she couldn't understand. A feeling which she never felt before, made her own face heat up.

After he parted, he felt his own lips brush against hers as he slowly leaned away to look into her gorgeous hues. Dazed, face flushed, he didn't care, at that moment all he cared about was to show her that she wasn't hated. That he really liked her, or maybe... More? Although, his action brought a sluggish reaction on her part. He saw fear gradually make its way onto her face along with the tomato color that made her skin darken. She's afraid? From what? Not long did rain begin to pour and lightning streaked across the night sky. As soon as it had, she bolted off of the tree with ease and tried to push past citizens.

( :D It's Haru's final song!)

"Haru-- wait!" Hitoshi's cry was barely heard over the chatter of the people around him. He didn't want to let her get away this time, to run away from the fear, or hide. His legs carried him a ways behind her and literally bashed against some people to get through fast enough.

Up a small staircase and to the edge of the road, he watched her sprint far ahead. He knew she was faster than that but whatever was on her mind, it prevented her from running at her full speed. Seconds later he heard behind him, the large crowd screaming when the rain became a torrent. He didn't care though, not even when the winds were against him and water splashed into his eyes. Using his forearm to shield himself, he saw how the torrent slowed the girl down but not by much.

Closer and closer he was starting to get, close enough to try and reach for her hand but he missed. When he did, it made him lose his balance, resulting in falling face-first onto the pavement. He didn't give up though, not even when she was gone from his field of vision, he still got up to keep running. "Haruuu!" This time he screamed, taking minutes to look for her. Worry over the brunette filled his mind when there was no sign of her anywhere, the only thing in sight now was a bus stop and a seat covered by an awning.

Panting, looking closer, through the transparent awning he saw the girl's figure. He did his best to push against the heavy winds and carefully grab the edge of the awning, though when he saw her curled-up frame he stared.

"I don't get it..." She mumbled through sobs, keeping her face hidden from his eyes. "I don't understand it!" Her arms coiled tighter around her knees as hicks from her crying met his ears. "People only kiss someone if they like them! Shigaraki tried to marry me and kiss me, too! How can you like me when I'm nearly impulsive?! I'm a killer, I've hurt people! I even tortured and played with people before killing them! Why?! WHY?! Why do you still think I'm a hero?! Just because I saved Uviel?!" Not once did she look at him, her head barely moved so her mumbles could be heard better over the hard torrent that was thankfully shielded by the awning. The cold of the weather caused her exposed arms and legs to shiver, but she didn't care, for she believed she deserved any punishment that awaited her. However... None came. Only a warm man's blouse was placed over her head and shoulders, then Hitoshi's body heat radiated to her side when he sat down.

He sat there with her for a long while without saying a word. The sound of the torrent smacking against the awning's side and other objects around them was like white noise to soothe whatever tension there was. "No... You're not. You may have done all of those things... But you were also confused and scared. You felt bad for doing all of that, you wanted to make up for them and even you saved Uviel. Your father beat you and most likely forced you to kill people as part of his training. How can anyone blame you for what he did to you? What matters-- is that you're trying... We even made a promise together, to not let each other fall into the black void of despair," Suddenly when he twisted to the side and engulfed her into his arms, fully wrapped around her form, something he said caused her to lose her breath.

Something she never expected to hear from anyone, except her best friend that was like a baby sister. "I love you... And I don't want to lose you," Gently he moved so he could look into her eyes, and with passion, his lips softly pressed against hers. He didn't care that he saw her tears trickle down her tan cheeks, he wanted her to know that. When she tried to break from him again, tried to push him away, he held her closer and kept his kiss in place. "I love you," Again, he stated for a second when he parted, with as much love behind his passionate kiss he continued. Only, her struggles eventually stopped, and crying stayed between their connected lips. The boy clearly was upset that Shigaraki almost got away with marrying her, forcing her into it and nearly kissing her. So he made sure his lips were all over hers as if to ward off Tomura's who tried to steal it.

She finally figured it out. It took a long time, but she finally figured out how she felt. Her heart racing and her face red, she used her hands to clench his shirt. Kissing back desperately, wanting to feel more of that love she never felt before, and wanting to express what made her heartache. Sobs between breaths never made her or him slow down, for they didn't want to stop any time soon; even in the midst of the battle around U.A. Who knew that love could be found even during the most dangerous of times?

~~~~Uviel~~~~
Thunk after thunk, as Kage stepped backward, closer to the edge where the three ran Uviel wasted no time to use her boots to fly onto his shoulder. "I'll stall you time! Use the grappling hook when you get your chance!" Screamed Saito before her hands reached out to Kirishima, hoisting him up as soon as he jumped. She felt one hand wrap around her waist, which made her pale cheeks brighten, but he knew he was holding onto her so she wouldn't fall.
Tali's silent response through her eyes was enough of an answer, as she watched Kage lean over and race after Gechi. "I'm so close... I can almost TASTE it," A determination reflected on her face, despite the raging torrent that soaked her clothes. Without hesitance, she pulled off her jacket and kept the hook in one hand. The cannon over her shoulder plopped onto the ground with a heavy clunk and hardly cared that her long bangs got in her way. No... The only thing she wanted more than anything, was right there behind the armor plating of the enemy robot.
( :D Tali Muni's theme! The last song to be played in this fight! <3)
Uviel took out her staff and prepped for a moment to strike, as Kirishima's tight grip on Kage's neckpiece kept both of them in place during their ride.
Fist after fist the robots threw at each other, knocking the cyborg into the cliff's side where Tali stood and at that moment a ravaged scream erupted from her throat. Up came the grappling hook and shot it out, attaching it to one of the remaining fluctuating cords. Fearless, eyes full of beastly rage, swooped the dead woman across the treetops and through the air.
From the corners of her eyes, she saw Kage sprinting around Goro's robot to gain distance from the third missile, which shot from its shoulder. Just by a hair Tali missed it, for the swing from the grappling hook was keeping her in the air. From the force of the missile, she fell toward Gechi's robot with a nasty scream, lifted her cannon, and kicked at the full charge button on the side.
Erupting from the mouth was a wide blast of dark blue energy, which had missed and wiped out one of the robot's shoulders. Her action was enough to astonish the two on Kage, as the said robot used both hands to catch the missile and redirect it toward the sky.
From the cannon's blast, the force alone was enough to shoot her backward in Uviel's direction. The girl wasted no time catching her with her free hand by the wrist and kept her blue hues on the titan in the distance. "I'll knock the plating loose!" Screamed the girl whose staff was lifted and whirled around. She ignored the dead dangling woman for a minute to whip out a wave of her rod's power that could crumble the earth within seconds.
With a mechanical, metallic sound from her weapon, waves erupted and crushed a piece of Gechi's armor plate. Although it was dented, some of the earth behind him was crushed up into chunks.
"Hahahahaha! So-- after all this time! Hahahaha! You decided to bunch together?! That's so cute, now I can kill all of you at once!" Gechi's grave voice resonated from his robot, just before he leaped high into the air with a kick ready to drop.
"YOU FREAKISH BASTAAAAARD!" Deep within her throat came out a growling scream from Muni after her foot stomped onto the cannon again and charged another round. Another kick beneath the cannon brought it up to float for a second and like last time as she did before, shot the cannon's blast with one arm. However, it had ripped her arm off after it shot and flew behind her into the trees somewhere. But despite the loss of her weapon, a gaping hole was left through the waistline of Gechi's robot.
"We're close! Do it again, Uviel!" Eijiro yelled over the enraged torrent and stared upon the hole that glowed in the storm's darkness with magma; its metal was melted completely through.
Once again, During the exchange of blows between her robot and Gechi's, she swung another wave of power and this time managed to dent the same plate hard enough that it left open a small crevice.
"YOU'RE MIIIIIINE!" At long last, the grappling hook she used before, was shot out towards the titan before her and grasped a piece of the loose metal. Her voice was so full of her churning wrath, and her scream was so loud that it could be heard from the torrent and from miles away. Despite only having one arm left, she kicked her feet out to slam against the armor plate and quickly let go of the hook.
As fast as she had, her hand grasped the loose metal. From a harsh stomp of her boot through the crevice, she ripped open the plate with so much strength. It took but a second to grab a hold of a hanging cord on the inside of the robot and hoist herself into the hole.
Gechi's robot just stood there, it took too much damage to so much as move while Kage and his passengers simply watched the whole display.
However, it wasn't pleasant to hear all of the rip and tear of the robot's guts, on Goroganda's side. His astonished cybernetic eyes observed in horror at the incoming beast who screamed bloody murder or an enraged, feral animal wanting nothing but to shed blood. No... No, no no- no- no! NO! It can't be! He had nearly forgotten about the dead woman who rose from the dead. For the first time in his entire life... He felt fear.
His scalped cords were all attached to the ceiling of his chamber, whereas his spine remained connected and his forearms were held tightly into the controls of his robot. He was vulnerable, he couldn't move. Not even his feet were free... He had doomed himself from the start. The alarms blaring, texts in his cybernetic red eyes warning him about damaged parts of his robot, and the raging zombie seeking revenge tearing apart its insides all brought devastation into his mind.
One after another, he watched in terror as he saw the zombie slowly reveal herself through the thick layers. Every cord snapping from its socket, walls of wires exposing her through their gaps, being ripped out of her way, he saw her disheveled features.
From the blast of her cannon, she shot with one hand and singed one side of her pigtails completely off. Her arm was missing, dead blood dripped from her exposed muscles and torn flesh. Even the bones on the side of her face opposite from her long bang, showed through the red lights that warned him of severe danger. Pure hatred, rage, anything that could describe the amount of murderous intent which glinted in her dead black eyes, cast nothing but dread through his entire body.
Tali wasted no time... Her final cry for vengeance and built-up rage rang throughout the robot and outside of it when she bolted for the man. With the only hand left she reached out towards him, across the chamber he stood in, and grabbed his face. "AAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Smash, bang, thunk, clang, over and over his head crashed against the metal of his own robot.
Next came her teeth, for she leaned over and as an animal would do, ripped out his throat. Out came millions of wires and cords from beneath his skin that gave a disguising snap and harsh spark of electricity. The sounds of his agonizing screams were like music to her ears the more she tore him apart. It was satisfactory, feeling her vengeance being sated, her lust for his death so they may be in the grave together felt closer than it ever had before. One last time, after ripping off his jaw and his arms, she looked into his devastated shrunken pupils and spoke. "IF I'M DEAD, YOU'LL GO TO HELL WITH ME!" In his face, animosity poured and made sure her rage was felt through his very bones.
In his vision, he saw his own death. His fate, karma, reflected through her eyes while he saw texts in his eyes alerting him of self-destruction. He couldn't speak, the pain he felt at that moment was unbearable but couldn't scream anymore to prove it. However, just before the grand ending of his life, for a second he saw a flash of an old memory of her. Her beautiful black hair in the same hairstyle, her soft pale complexion that would blush every time he got too close, even her beautiful brown eyes that would shine with awe each time he'd talk about his dream. Oh... How far he's come. How much he's forgotten... What it meant to feel human.
Outside of the titan, sparks flew all around the robot, and red flashed as though an explosion was about to go off. "TAKE COVER!" Kirishima demanded as he held onto Uviel tightly and felt Kage place them down behind him, robotic arms on either side. His entire body covered them, as Eijiro did the same to Saito with his hardening quirk and steeled himself for the force.
Behind them... Dispersing with great power, the titan exploded like a nuke in the distance.
The shock wave of the explosion reached for several miles, thankfully it missed the school and only disintegrated the environment within its radius. The fire from it had reached the sky past the storming clouds in the night and lit up so bright that anyone could see from afar.
~~~~Tomura~~~~

In town, where he and his League watched the battle, stood dumbfounded by the beastly roar of Tali's rage just before Gechi's robot exploded like a nuke in the forest. All pairs of eyes widened with bewilderment, to say they were surprised would be an understatement... No, rather, they were mixed with awe and fear upon the realization of just how much rage, and persistence she had.

"So... She finally got what she chased for, after years of effort," Relieved, Kurogiri sighed and nodded to himself. He felt sorry for her, over how she was betrayed and died the first time.

"She's dead again and probably forever, too," Dabi mumbled with a scratch at his temple, before stuffing his hands back into his jacket pockets.

"Two villains killing each other, because of a grudge. How stupid can someone be?" Shigaraki groaned with a shake of his head and turned around to face his bartender, who, instinctively opened a portal back to their base.

"Wouldn't that mean your grudge is stupid too?" Toga's giggling echoed when she followed the slouched man but flinched when his anger reached her.

"Be quiet unless you want you want to meet a similar fate, you brat!" It was quick, his hand reached out in an attempt to threaten her and held it inches away from her neck, to which he saw her stiffen. Not long after that they walked through and left the rooftop.

~~~~Edgeshot~~~~
"She did it! She did it," Excited, relieved, happy, many words could describe the emotion he felt over the sight of the titan's explosion. At the beach next to Aizawa and the nurse who healed their wounds, stood Edgeshot and Shota.
"She even managed to drag that guy far enough away from the school. Impressive," Behind Aizawa's scarf he couldn't stop his smile from surfacing. To say he was proud would be true, another student of his brought down a powerful villain that was a major threat to the school. "You have a good daughter, Kamihara. Do you plan to change her last name to yours?" To the side, he peeked at the pro ninja who stared in silence at the bright light in the sky.
"No... That will be her decision. I wouldn't want her to let go of the only thing she has left of her real parents," With that answer, the rest of the time spent there was quiet in terms of no conversation.
The whole crowd cheered at the defeat of Gechi and even more so that the raging storm calmed. Everything and everyone were soaking wet, but the clouds parted to show the illuminating moon which made it all worth waiting for. The environment sparkled with beauty from the moonlight and the bright flame high in the sky, which gradually faded.
"Guys!" Hatsume, with her hand waving, came running with a cheerful smile that matched Haru's signature one. How she managed to get away in time was beyond them...
"Um... Wasn't she with--" Shinya pointed at the approaching pinky, only to hear a hum of agreement from the man in black and saw his head nod in the corner of his eyes.
"Guys! I made it just in time! As soon as the fight got too serious, I had to get out of there. I'm sure they didn't want me getting in their way! So-- on my way over, I found this!" From her hand, she lifted a schematic of sorts that showed a weapon design they'd never seen before. "While they were fighting, I ran back into town as quick as I could and saw this lying on the ground. I think it might've flown out of his robot and the heavy wind probably carried it all the way there! Can I keep it?! I could make it and impress everyone with my new baby! Of course, it'd probably take decades to finish but--" Before she could continue her rambling, Aizawa's words cut her off.
"You'll have to take that up with your own Teacher... I doubt they'd ever let a kid handle something like this, but I personally don't care whether you do or not," Looking down, he peeled the soggy material of his outfit off of his skin and comically, appeared as displeased, as Edgeshot's expression when he heard the disturbing sound it gave.
~~~~Haru~~~~

Their shoes were so drenched that with every step they took, they would squelch and sometimes fart from the air pushing out from their soles. Nonetheless, the embarrassment from their earlier situation was still evident.

Fingers intertwined, palms close together, eyes averted from one another, they shyly wandered down the road back toward the beach. "Thank... You," A little tighter her hand squeezed, and felt her face heat up more than it should have.

"D- Don't thank me... I only d- did what I thought was right and I w- wanted to show you how much I l- loved you," Stumbling over his own words, he answered and this time, he stepped closer to her. With a curious hum, he saw a light in the clouds fade and smoke in the air, he knew what happened. There was no doubt that the Titan which emerged from the ground was taken down. "Haru-- use your quirk, do you see that?" His smile grew wider by the second, finally, the hacker was gone, he could feel it and he was sure she could too.

Those blind hues turned to slits once more to see what he spoke of and gasped. "UV-Ray-- did she..." Trailing off, she basically answered her own question when she heard the crowd at the beach cheering. The torrent they sprinted through earlier had finally stopped moments ago and for the first time, she was able to look up at the sky to see the beautiful moon.

"Yeah, she did. Come on, let's go find her," encouraging her to run, he held onto her hand a bit tighter and ran down the road past the beach from around the corner; pushing past the crowd which led towards Town.
