Chapter 34: Hatsume's new creation!
A/N: Alright guys, finally! After so long, I feel like I can write again! I mentioned before that I'd take the author's note down and replace it with a chapter, so here it is! :DD
~~~~~~~~~
Did he hear me sing, really? I can't just assume he did. He could've been referring to me when I talked. Confusion laced Uviel's words as her eyes fixed on the character in the game she played. Using the staff to sweep her enemy's feet and perform a finishing move on the boss. Her cheeks brightened with red the more she kept thinking about Kirishima's words, unaware that her lips were curling from the thought.
Even though she beat the boss in her game, victory wasn't enough to make her smile and distract her from pondering so much. Everyone in the classroom was cheering when Momo offered to help them study at her place since she's the top student currently. Uviel had no idea what her score was yet, considering she had just started her terms this year.
"Uviel!" A loud voice boomed and nearly made the redhead drop her game if she hadn't caught it in time before it hit the floor. A girl's voice was what she heard, Momo's to be exact and when she moved her eyes over to meet dark ones-- "You want to come over too?! I have a lot of room in the hall! You can study with us too! No games though..." A sharp glare was directed to Saito's gaming device before her beaming, eager smile spread across her lips. "You can play it when you get back home though!~" Simply put, a thumbs-up was what the redhead received, and watched as the cybergirl shyly smiled.
"Uh- I never been to another person's...house before, are you sure?" Nervous, her pale finger scratched at her cheek when she gave an uneasy smile.
"What?! Does that mean you've never had a sleepover either?!" Now it was Ochaco's turn to jump into questioning. When she saw the cybergirl shake her head, a long and dramatic gasp fell from almost all of the girls in the room.
"Then that's even more of a reason to tag along! Come on, it'll be nice! I can prepare your favorite tea and some snacks!" Eagerness shone brightly in Momo's eyes after learning that and she believed it would be an amazing experience for Uviel. "Your first time going to a friend's house should be a nice one, right?" her question lingered in the air, as suspense rose the longer Saito shockingly gazed upon the beaming girl.
Hesitant, an appreciative smile appeared after a shy nod was given. "Yeah, I'd like that," Her eyes averted to her desk when she answered and quickly stashed her game into her bag. Since Uviel no longer needed to wear her hoodie anymore, there was no other place to put her game.
Momo began to ramble on with her excitement as she spoke with the other classmates, eventually being drowned out by the redhead until she heard Kirishima speak to Bakugo. "Look at the difference in virtue," His toothy grin only made Katsuki furious, those grinding teeth and sharp eyes proved it that much more.
"I can do it, too! Want me to beat it into you?" All he heard from the darker redhead was a cheerful acceptance saying 'Yeah, I'm counting on it!'.
A turn of Kirishima's head, his toothy grin changed to a worried one when he stared at Saito from afar.
~~~ Time skip~~~
"The practical exam, huh? It's kind of scary since I can't tell what'll be on it," Izuku mumbled as he stared at his food.
"I don't think it'll be anything crazy," Iida, who sat next to him, answered and began to eat.
"The written exam questions will come from what we study in class, so I should be able to manage somehow, but..." Midoriya trailed off after his eyes moved up to ponder and were unaware of the slightly uneasy face from Ochaco when she mumbled something no one could hear. "Seriously, what will we have to do for the practical exam?" His question soon received Saito's thoughts on it when she spoke up.
Next to Toru, sat the Cybergirl, pieces of meat went into her mouth, and took a second to speak. "Maybe robots or something? It'd be kinda cool if..." Trailing off for a moment, her blue hues peeked over to Izuku and watched his attention move to her. "The teachers put us through simulations instead. I saw a movie one time, called X-Men or something. It was an American movie, but-- their teacher put them through training regimens or...simulations I think," her thoughts weren't ignored, for even a few other students contemplated her ideas and Midoriya grinned.
"It sounds like something our teachers would put us through, but, I don't think they really would. I doubt that's it-- it's a good idea though," Mez was next to speak up, only to hear Toru talk right after him.
"It'll be a comprehensive test of everything from the first semester," Even though no one could see her, it was clear her voice sounded a bit troubled.
"That's all Mr. Aizawa would tell us," Asui pointed out, as she munched on some food that was held in her hand.
"Everything we did so far... So, combat training and rescue training, and then basic training..." It was Ochaco's turn now, her brown eyes looked up in thought and continued to ponder.
"Don't forget some villains," An eye roll from Uviel, her mumbled words earned her a glance or two when they recalled the hero killer and the villain Saito watched fight her idol hero Kamihara, with a few others she knew. Shinso, Aizawa, and the scaly dude Wani.
"Yeah, some villains..." Izuku and Iida both acknowledged in unison before their eyes moved to their food. "In addition to studying we'll have to keep in good physical conditio--" From the side, an elbow hit him upon his head which seemed to have interrupted his words.
"Oh, sorry. Your head was so big that I accidentally hit it," Sarcasm laced Monoma's voice as he eyed his target with ill intent.
"You're from class B... Um, Monoma! How dare you--" Once again, Izuku was cut off when the blonde boy to his side overran him.
"I heard you guys met the Hero Killer. Just like the sports festival, you guys in Class A just have to have all the attention, huh? But that attention isn't because people have high hopes for you. It's because you keep attracting trouble, right?" From the darkest pit of his heart, Monoma continued and his ominous grin grew wide. "Oh, that's scary. Someday, the rest of us might also be caught up in the trouble you bring and become victims as well... Like getting cursed by the god of pestilence," However, from the creepy view of the blonde and his eerie aura, came surprise on his face when the cybergirl decided to speak up.
"All the trouble you claim, that we're attracting... Would just help us more in finding Haru, it'd make it easier for us. So, to save one student who was kidnapped by some villains-- I'd say, the students here who're trying to become heroes in their own way would be more than happy to put themselves on the line, if it meant saving a life... I doubt they'd call themselves a victim if they decided to try and help, too," her words silenced the boy.
Her stunning blue hues bore dangerously into gray ones before her next words met his ears. "Sounds to me, that you're afraid," Even though it was unlike her to speak up out of the blue as she did, she felt it necessary to butt in and shut him up. A victorious smile grew on her upper black lips when she noticed how stunned he looked.
Izuku was astonished that Uviel decided to say something, a few others included. Monoma's lips parted to try and continue but a strike from a girl's hand made him tumble to the ground, skillfully taking his tray with no trouble.
"Monoma, that's not funny. Don't you know what happened to Iida?" Kendo, whose name was announced by one of the students, viewed them with a friendly smile. "Sorry, Class A. This guy's heart's just kinda, you know," Uviel, upon hearing that, nearly sweatdropped and thought how similar he was in some ways to Haru.
With a hand pressed against her head, Kendo continued. "You guys were talking earlier about how you don't know what's gonna be on the practical exam for the finals, right? Looks like it'll be combat against robots like in the entrance exam," spoke the girl, who only received shocked faces from a few students and a dropped jaw from Saito.
What, seriously?! Robots?! Why of all things?! The last time I went against one, I wasn't even aware I was fighting! Panic rose in the redhead the more she pondered on those metallic dummies and hunkered down a bit.
"What?! Really?! How do you know?!" Midoriya was dumbfounded by how the girl knew that, his question seemed to have perked curious ears at his table and Uviel's eyes peeked up.
"An upperclassman friend of mine told me. It's kind of cheating, though," Kendo's finger had pointed in a different direction when she mentioned her upperclassman. Her words only caused unease among the 1-A students, it was enough to have Saito speak about the robots.
"It shouldn't be too hard...right? I mean-- Most of us defeated them pretty easily," Her pale finger scratched at her cheek nervously when she looked away, just to quickly use her chopsticks to eat more of her food. She couldn't help but notice the deep contemplation from Izuku when he put his fingers on his mouth, it brought a confused look to her face. Wow, he really likes to take notes. Heh, maybe I should do that too... her thoughts echoed with puzzlement and interest.
Uviel didn't even pay attention to the bully who kept mumbling about an information advantage. That was-- until Kendo chopped at the back of his neck and dragged him away somewhere. "He's got some issues," her whispered words earned her a nod from Ochaco and Asui.
Moments later, a pink-haired girl came sprinting over to their table and slammed her hands on the end of it. "Saito!" Everyone jumped, stunned at Hatsume's sudden outburst whose eyes gleamed with excitement. "Saito, this is your final exam, right?! Then, please! You're the only one to try out my new baby! As a reward, you can even keep him!" Her bright smile nearly burned everyone's eyeballs, but Uviel's answer seemed to only make it shine worse.
"Do you have to be so loud...? What...baby? What do you mean by him?" Her head rose curiously despite feeling a bit annoyed by her loud words and approach. A sweatdrop and a nervous smile grew when she asked, it was random for her to pop in.
"As a project for my class's final exam, we needed to create something extraordinary! Something that no one's seen before! A lot of my classmates have already finished their exams except me because I need a gamer! I heard that you were a gamer and you're a cyborg to boot! You're the perfect fit! Please, help me finish my exams!" Her smile fell and her head bowed with her hands clamped together desperately.
For once, pure interest sparkled in a pair of blue eyes. Uviel's mouth had dropped slightly and instantly with pink tints dusting her cheeks, she sprung to a stand. "W- What is this invention? How could I help?" Now excitement filled her mind, that was until Hatsume's next words came.
"This invention is a giant fighting robot that's taller than a three-story building! The only way he can be used is if his USB is hooked into a device, but-- Since it's you, who will be giving him a test drive--!" quickly, from her pocket, she pulled out a USB and a controller. The USB drive was tiny but it looked as though it'd fit right into one of the hidden slots on her...head.
"If you have any USB slots on your body, you could look through his eyes and use this controller to fight! It'd be just like one of those first-person combat games!" Her loud words, the energy that radiated, the excitement that riddled her body, beamed as bright as Uviel's pure eagerness in her eyes.
The cyber girl was so shocked, that she didn't even notice her chopsticks fall out of her hand and the silence that befell her fellow students. Quickly, forgetting about the food for a minute, she ran around the table to reach Hatsume and bore her newly determined eyes into yellow ones. "Show me... This sounds super badass," those pink tints never faded on her pale cheeks, nor the obvious excitement on her face that seemed to mix with her determination.
"Yes! Hahahaha! He is very badass!" Harshly, away from the students, Hatsume tugged on Saito's hand and dragged her away from the group, she ran so fast that the cybergirl waved like a flag in the wind.
"Um, guys? She just...ran off with Saito," Midoriya pointed his utensil at their retreating backsides and gained more distance, completely astonished by what just happened.
"I hope she'll be okay..." Mumbled Mez who worriedly stared in the girls' direction.
"Aah! That does sound cool, though! A giant robot?! If she used that to fight the other robots, then she'd win for sure! Robot versus robot, hiyah!" Ochaco beamed with energy and pretended to fight an invisible opponent, chopping at the air.
"I would honestly like to see this, too," Iida was next to speak, as his fingers adjusted his glasses and glanced over to the others.
~~~
Surprisingly, after Hatsume's teacher informed Aizawa of Uviel's lateness and why; he seemed to have approved of it. So Uviel wasn't there during Bakugo's sudden outburst and declaration of war, against Izuku...
There, in the testing grounds for inventions and other support items, stood Uviel who awkwardly looked everywhere else but the students. The kids in there kept gawking at Uviel's cybernetic lines, which she nervously tried to hide and avoid eye contact.
"Saito, over here!" Hatsume's excited voice boomed across the testing ground and watched as the redhead looked her way. Quickly trotting and trying her best to ignore the onlookers, she nearly skidded to a halt upon seeing a giant metallic sphere.
"This is Kage!" The sphere she stood next to was so dark red it looked almost black, that only small hints of red glossed across its body. A black circle in the center indicated that it was an eye, but something told Uviel that it wasn't even turned on yet. Kage was so large that Mei had to reach up a little, to even rub the top of him. "He has a one-time synchronization, so whoever he gets hooked up to or whoever claims him will forever be his master! It would have to take an incredibly talented hacker to even hijack his mainframe or components! My friends and I all helped pitch in for this idea, so if he works during your exams, I can finish mine! When I mentioned my classmates finished theirs already, they said they'd give me a hand and look at how he turned out so far! My baby will be amazing!" Her palms to her cheeks, hearts floated above her head after she jumped like an excited little girl.
"I'd like to join you in your exam, too! Fight alongside you, so my teacher will know who made this little adorable piece of metal!" Together her hands clapped, unintentionally getting too close to Uviel's face and letting her smile broaden.
"O- Okay! I'd like that! This robo-... I mean, Kage, will bring a whole new definition to gaming, haha," a faint giggle and a smile occurred when she glanced over to the large sphere next to Mei.
"He sure will! I like your attitude! In just a few days, let's meet up where your exam will take place! All you have to do is give me a quick text and I'll bolt like a lightning strike!" A dramatic pose, where her finger pointed to the ceiling, was shown to Uviel.
"Sure... Um, here," Incredibly nervous, from her bag, she pulled out her phone and showed Hatsume her number; it surprised her, to say the least, to text someone else.
Almost instantly Mei reached into one of her pouches and pulled out her phone, it was only a matter of seconds before Saito received a winky-face text. "Thanks! Kage will be here until the exams start so that way he won't have to follow you around! I won't activate him until I can get him to you either!" A thumbs-up was all the cybergirl received, however, one question did linger in her mind...
"Hey um-- About... Your development with Kage..." Trailed the redhead when she took a glance back at the sleeping sphere. A pair of curiously blinking, yellow eyes, followed Uviel's and mentally questioned what she was thinking. "How did you manage to build his giant robot form when he looks so much smaller in comparison? What kind of weapons does he have and his level of mobility? Also-- How did you even manage to get weapons on him, that's big enough for him in his giant form if he's this tiny?" Despite the sphere being much larger than their height, she knew that judging by his size-- Kage would have to be ten times bigger, to hold any guns or weapons large enough for his giant form.
Her calculative blue hues made excitement spark in yellow ones, which soon followed up with a simple answer. "That's so easy to tell you! The answer to your first question-- I took him out of the city with the help of a few teachers and I began to build on him! Second-- His small size has all of the components that make him larger! It's very complicated to explain; as for the question about his weapons-- He uses millions upon millions of assault rifle bullets in his small form here! But when he's in his larger form, those bullets all get stuffed into a couple of miniature missiles that can only be used once. He doesn't have enough room to have more than two-- Anyway! He's mostly a close-quarters combatant! So this metal I made him out of, in theory, isn't any normal metal; it's tough enough to handle powerful blows! However, his armor is still in question because he still needs to be tested! Which, is why I want you to take him with you too. I don't know his level of mobility yet, so the exams should tell me!" A fist pump into the air made Uviel profusely sweat and gulp.
So, she's going to make me use Kage to fight against a teacher? You have to be kidding me...? HOW WAS BUILDING KAGE, LEGAL?! Her mind was frantic, devastated, and curious if her teachers were out of their minds. "Alright, t- thanks. I'll head out then, I'll see you in a few days... I have some studies to catch up on," a few steps back, Saito turned to leave and couldn't help but hear giggles from the pinky behind her.
"Okay! Good luck! We'll both be there!" Mei's hand waved to the cybergirl who made her way out, and once she did, her excitement grew that much more to the point of making her squeal. "EEEEEE! Hahahaha! My baby is going to shine as bright as the stars!" Everyone around her sort of just blinked and shook their heads, before they returned to their work.
~~~Elsewhere~~~
"Hnn?~ Well, look at this. I might have a new toy to play with! Lovely, such a lovely creation that girl created! A creation meant for destruction!" A familiar mechanical voice echoed through a dark room full of many monitors, which emitted light around his frame.
Cords, of all kinds, were connected to USB slots and plugins above him and were attached to his head. Those bright red, cybernetic eyes gleamed through the darkness and brightened up his face more. Not only did the light from his screens shine brightly, but the crimson glowing helped expose the sharp teeth in his grin.
"I can't wait to test Kage out... Saito would have to plug him into her USB slot, for me to take over! Hahahahaha! I may just get this chance to kill one of those annoying teachers, too! Hahahahahahaha!" Raw laughter, mechanical and eerie, echoed throughout the dark space around him when he leaned his head back.
His radiating, red fingertips twitched after he lifted his hands and viewed the screens again. "Let's implant some martial techniques this time. If she's going to do her final exams, then she should prepare, no?~ Hehehehahahahaha!" This time his laugh bounced maniacally, from high to low pitch.
Each movement of his fingertips navigated another screen and scrolled through data files that had all kinds of fighting styles. "Oh Saito, I wasn't expecting this at all. Here, I was planning on adding some more cybernetics to you but Hatsume came to us with a surprise...~" His words nearly whispered when his face appeared and showed only those sharp grinning teeth.
