Chapter 23: Explain further...
It was later that day when everyone was back in class. The sun was setting with an orange sky, while everyone remained seated and listened to their teacher. Bakugo, who kept the medal he earned from the tournament, continued to hold it between his teeth. Uviel wore her student uniform, but this time, she left her hoodie in her locker; her need to be brave became greater than her fear of being seen.
Those blue hues lingered on the empty desk not far from her, the desk Haru sat in before this whole mess started and a simple frown made itself known. Har-Har, don't worry... We'll figure this out together, please don't keep running. Her heart weighed heavily over her missing friend, however, upon hearing their teacher speak all heads faced the dark man and watched him enter.
"Good work," Aizawa soon stood before his desk to greet his students, not once did his tired dark eyes show any kind of real concern. "So there will be no school tomorrow, or the day after. I'm sure pro heroes who watched the sports festival will want to recruit you, but we'll consolidate everything and announce it when you get back. So rest well, and look forward to that," As though it were timed, more than half of the students responded to his speech and continued with their class.
However, there was one other thing that the teacher wanted to say and it involved the cyber girl's dilemma. "One other thing," he began as he glanced at Saito for but a moment before viewing the rest of the class. "We have some issues with a couple of students regarding Saito and Yukimura... After the tournament, I confronted the principal about their situation. I'll inform you this, which is most important for you to hear. Keep an eye out for Yukimura, I'm sure all of you saw her run off of the stage during the matches and she hasn't been found since," After that, everyone began to whisper questions about the news and on occasion, would peek over at the cyber girl.
Uviel averted her gaze from their lingering ones and sunk into her seat, not truly liking the attention. Unaware of the teacher's eyes on her, his voice made her head snap up to view him.
"Saito. I need to speak with you later, meet me in the Principal's office," with that, surprise lit up her blue hues before a simple nod was given.
After a moment's pause, her attention moved over to Iida's seat and pondered. So, Haru's not the only one that's gone right now...? Even though it was more of a statement than a question, she couldn't help but feel concerned and curious.
~~~Later~~
Everyone was gone now, Uvi had to stay after class and wait for Aizawa. The girl was standing near the window and gazing upon the sunset, swirling thoughts never leaving her dazed eyes. "Alright, let's go," that was all she needed to hear. Eyes moving to view the teacher, she watched him stuff his hands into his pockets before heading for the door.
"Mr... Aizawa?" Hesitant at first, Saito saw his steps halt after the mention of his name. With a simple hum in acknowledgment, his dark eyes viewed her in their peripherals. "I'm-- I'm scared. I miss Haru so much, she just...disappeared. I tried- I really did. Stopping her in time to get her to talk to me was almost like trying to stop a stampede. I just... Couldn't reach her," guilt was obvious in her eyes when they began to water and looked at her own feet. With her clenching fist, and slightly quivering lip, she tried to stay strong for the entire tournament.
"Don't dwell over it. She'll come back around, let's head over to Principal Nezu now. You need to explain to him and me exactly, what happened," his words only made the lighter redhead grow disbelief inside when she turned to face him.
"Fine... But why? I already told you that I wasn't in control of myself! It wasn't me-" At that moment she saw her teacher shoot her a dangerous glare and a frown that meant he was serious.
"You're lack of control, whether it being you or not, almost cost the life of a student... Besides, that's not the only thing you're going to explain in detail, about what happened. Yukimura's disappearance is more of a priority right now, so come," Anger laced his voice before he left the room.
Saito was shocked, mouth agape and all. Not too much longer did she catch up to him and had a silent walk to Nezu's office, it felt rather awkward to her. It took perhaps five minutes or so to reach the Principal's office, she wasn't expecting anger from Aizawa at all.
With a lift of his hand, a knock on the door, it was almost instant when the Principal's voice echoed a quick come in; as if on cue, first came in Aizawa then the girl in tow. They both walked up to Nezu who kept a friendly smile on and his hands behind his back.
In front of his desk, a paw lightly waved to them before he spoke. "Hi, hello! It's good to see you're okay! You do remember me, right?" After he asked that, he watched the girl nod and continued. "Okay! So- please sit so we can talk comfortably," As demanded, Saito sat in one of the chairs and slouched.
She was waiting for it, some sort of lecture as she received from her teacher but none came when Nezu stood before her with a concerned face. "Tell me... Aizawa told me the bit of information you gave him, but I want to hear the whole story from you. From when you were small with Yukimura by your side, to now. This will help me better understand what's going on with her and help us find her faster. After that, I wish to discuss your behavior during your match," his hands behind his back again, those beady eyes looked up at the astonished girl who wasn't expecting him to say that.
She knew almost every nook and cranny about her best friend, so at this point, she knew there was no way out from telling them about her.
Time passed as she explained everything. From how they both met, to the hospital moment where she and Shinso saved her. Even to the part where Yukimura had moments of sinister grins appearing when no one was looking. Everything that had happened as of late, except the part where she was running through the night during her sleep and Kirishima had somehow snapped her out of it, was explained.
Nezu listened carefully, the parts of Haru being abused by her father didn't even faze the Principal but it did a little bit for Aizawa. The part about her father being a villain who wants to force her into the dark path, whereas her dream to be a hero would only result in pain from him, and wanting to be different from her villainous family line.
Everything. Down to the finest detail, was given to him. It felt right to her, to tell him about what was going on so she did, and now that it was over...
"We will have to inform the other teachers about him. I believe I know who you're talking about... A Hitman, the man you saw that left their house before you went to save her? He's a Hitman and is very hard to find. However, all we know is his first name and somehow it changes over time," Nezu stated with a stern voice.
"Yeah, I think the last name he had was Shushimi... But it's different now." Aizawa spoke up this time, unsure of what the father's first name was now since he hadn't been caught as of late.
"Higher-ups..." Those two mumbled words made both heads look her way, as she remained in her seat with her own lowered. "She mentioned that the higher-ups made him put her into U.A... She was happy about it, of course, but... He wasn't. Do you know who these higher-ups are?" Hope sparkled in her blue hues when she viewed the Principal expectantly.
"Unless it's the League of Villains-- no. Others aside from them, I don't know. However, that does not mean I'll stop searching! Knowing about these higher-ups will help narrow things down a little more," after saying that, he watched her nod and lower her head more to ponder.
That was until a knock occurred. Everyone looked toward the door before the Principal approved of them entering, even Uviel peered over her shoulder to see. "Come in!" To Uviel's surprise, the door opened to reveal an indigo-haired boy who stood with a determined look on his face.
"I can help," a moment's pause ensued before he stepped in further to shut the door and stood far behind Saito. All he received was a questionable hum from Nezu and a confused face from Aizawa, that was until Shinso continued.
"I was almost killed by her father... Yukimura did everything she could to protect me from his strikes and they were nowhere near inexperienced. She even grew exhausted after a while of trying to deflect his fatal hits with her dagger, but..." the boy trailed off with a sigh and moved his hand down over his face with a rough rub. "She was taken by him," eyes lit up with surprise, Nezu, and Aizawa were stunned upon hearing that the boy was nearly killed.
Nearly killed and Haru was taken away but her father, Shinso explained the part about him mentioning having an appointment with the League of Villains, and that alone-- made their jaws drop.
"This is not good news at all. I'm relieved you're safe, but now we need to look for them before it's too late! I must dispatch some heroes to he-" Before the Principal could even finish, Uviel's words cut him off when her outburst toward Shinso appeared.
"Their house! They probably went back to their house! I know where it is! We need to go as soon as possible!" The cyber girl jumped out of her seat to try and reach the door in a rush but was stopped, by a rough hand from her teacher.
"Not by yourself!" Dangerous dark eyes bore into blue ones when he looked down at her small, frantic frame.
"Yes, not alone! It's too dangerous for a child who's befriended the daughter of a skilled villain. He will, no doubt, kill you as soon as you open their door. Now... I will dispatch some capable heroes to investigate, they will not charge in, of course-- but they will inform me of the security levels his home has. It will allow me to see who would be better fitting for the task of fighting the Hitman. Until then, I'd advise you to stay clear of their home and refrain from being unseen by a watchful eye," the last part of his sentence made Uviel blink and fully face him, she had a feeling she knew what he meant by a watchful eye.
"You mean-- by a watchful eye..." the girl trailed off in thought until she remembered that Vlad King had to keep an eye on her throughout the matches. "Who'll watch me now, since Vlad King is busy?" her question only made the Principal chuckle and raise a paw.
"For the time being, I will! After all, I need to speak with you about your behavior now that Yukimura's situation is more understood," a grin formed when he saw her nod in understanding. After that, Shinso had to leave since he was no longer needed, despite his sudden occurrence moments ago when he barged in. Saito just assumed he was eavesdropping on their conversation before.
"Aizawa, you may leave now. Thank you for assisting and escorting her to me!" A friendly smile is what he gave the teacher, before seeing him nod, and take his leave in silence. Now that they were alone, Nezu's beady eyes looked at blue ones with a frown. "Now then... From what Mr. Aizawa had told me, you weren't yourself. Please explain," Calmly he stated, his eyes followed the girl who chose to sit back down in her seat and waited.
"As I said before, I wasn't myself. I'm guessing Mr. Aizawa told you about how I was able to hear a weird chuckle in the dark void I was in?" Her question made the Principal nod quietly and saw that he was waiting for her to continue. "I wasn't lying... It sounded like a guy's voice. I couldn't move, I couldn't physically speak... Haru told me about those few times when I turned into some sort of unresponsive robot, but those times, I was unconscious until that one fight against Kirishima. I was awake at that time but I didn't have any control over my body, it felt like someone or something else was making me move... I couldn't see anything, hear anything, feel anything-- only my voice when I was screaming as loud as I could," There the girl explained, informing Nezu of her experience right to the finest detail and after she was done, she watched him ponder.
A paw to his chin, contemplating beady eyes viewing the floor, his guess wasn't something she expected. "You have cybernetics, yes? So then, wouldn't that mean, that, whoever can hack into mainframes or computers could easily control you; which would mea-" Nezu stopped talking and looked up when he heard her grunt.
Uviel's eyes became dazed for a moment, her head jerked as though someone had hit her and made her fall to the side. Unconscious somehow, though her eyes were open, her mind was gone! She looked empty and the very sight of the girl passing out, made the Principal rush to the girl's lap so he could tap at her cheek.
"Saito?!" Pure concern was evident, however, his efforts were wasted. He stood there astonished and pondered for a moment, questioning her sudden behavior. "How odd, it's as though someone shut her down like a machine! Unless..." For a moment he contemplated, after using his paw to close her eyes, and used the same limb to touch his chin.
Not a few seconds later did he have an idea and it wasn't a nice one. "Someone must be watching us! Why else would she simply become unconscious, the moment I spoke about someone possibly hacking into her? Now I understand... We might have a villain spying on us somehow," Nezu seemed a little fumed at that, sympathy for the poor girl was clear in his eyes but angry that someone might be using her.
"I need to look into this further!" In a hurry Nezu bolted to his computer, it was going to be a long night and Uviel remained in that chair for the longest time.
