Chapter 21: Daddy Hitman
"W-... What? Why...?" Intense, heavy air filled her lungs as her hazy eyes remained fear-struck at her father. From a shaky breath, Haru asked and saw his colored silhouette reach behind him to pull out a black hat.
On top of his shiny, bald scalp his hat was placed and the edges were tipped down to hide his black snake eyes. "Don't question me, girl...! We have an appointment to meet, don't stall!" His harsh voice which she learned was aggression during her childhood, radiated threat as though her instincts told her to raise her guard.
"N- No... No, I won't! I'm not going to follow in your steps anymore! I'm tired of-" For once in her life, she fought back. So sick and tired of it, she was, to have to deal with him and his abusive nature. Yet, her words had no effect in stopping him when he appeared at her side within a flash and placed a clawed hand on her shoulder.
"I don't want to hear anything from you, you little brat... Whatever that was during your match, you've risked our family's secret so now there are consequences. Though, I can't blame you for what that boy did to force some words out of you... You still answered him regardless. Now we have someone involved with you!" A turn of his head her way, her father's voice rose with fuming anger and his hand gripped her tighter than before.
A little bit, just a tiny bit it loosened before he spoke again, and this time his words surprised her to no end. "On top of other things, you have a meeting with the League of Villains," From hearing that, the girl's jaw dropped, and brushed his hand away in utter shock, her feet stepping back a few times. "I'll make sure you can't stray from our path. I've noticed for a long time, how rebellious you are. Constantly trying to fight who you are, a true villain at heart! Your damn mother always kept telling you that you could be anything you wanted when you were in her belly, I wished she had kept her mouth shut!" Nothing but raw anger escaped his lips once he fully faced her.
"Why are you always so angry at me?! What did I ever do to deserve such crap from you, huh?!" Roaring out with rage and fangs bared, Har-Har received a sickening thwack to her cheek that knocked her head to the side. Her bangs hid most of the painful mark on her cheek where he hit and saw stray tears cascade down, past her gritted teeth.
"Don't you dare talk to me like that! You killed her when she gave birth, you deserve every bit of this!" His temper suddenly spiked through the roof, he knew she'd back down eventually... This was a display they'd make on occasion if she ever chose to bite back. After a minute of silence between the two and his hateful glare piercing her frame, his eyes averted with a sigh. "Go get dressed... We're leaving," With a rude shove from his head, as he passed her, she simply stood there with nothing but shadow hiding her face.
After a moment when he disappeared, her half-lidded blind eyes filled with depression had widened upon hearing a voice whom she didn't think would appear. A voice, that she thought to be almost careless, sounded concerned and angry. "That was your father, then...?" An odd smell...but with the sound of his voice she knew who it was and it surprised her. Never did Haru think, that Shinso would eavesdrop on her business when matches were going on in the stadium.
The very violet boy's eyes were sharp with glinting anger and a tight frown proved just how furious he was. "I'm guessing he plans to get rid of me, right? Since I made you answer me, he's going to want to kill me to protect this secret... I'm surprised he didn't even know I was standing here," His words rang through her ears before her head turned to face him, however, seeing him holding a small bottle of liquid and sloshing its contents. She knew she smelled something a little strange.
"W-" Haru could barely speak right now, being caught red-handed around her father, the girl knew that he heard everything and how he was able to without being detected. She guessed the answer was inside that bottle, or...better yet...
"Body spray, a special kind that I asked for from Miss Kayama during the breaks of one of the matches. She said she never used it and received it as a gift long ago; it hides your natural musk or smell," When he explained rather coolly and sprayed himself on his neck, her nose picked it. "Now, about him... I decided to follow you around the best I could so I could figure out what was going on," Determined now, as a hero-to-be, he didn't want to pass up a chance of being heroic. Yet, his eyes widened at her uncharacteristic and angry outburst.
"He knows! If he knows you're involved, then he knows about Uviel! He has to know about her! He even told Kyoshi about me!" From there she spilled everything, she was all alone with only one person who seemed to be persistent enough to push her and a sense of trust sparked. Not only Uviel, but Shinso knows now, about everything. Telling him about her abusive villainous father, meeting someone who offered her to join the League of Villains, all of the mixed feelings about her father, everything she's told Saito filled the boy's ears.
There was no avoiding Shinso anymore, he caught too much of their conversation to try and make excuses. The poor girl was a mess since her bangs stuck to her face from the tears and not once had she glanced at the boy; for she knew there was no point... After a while of silence in the air and the distant cheers from the stadium, never had she moved from her spot.
Nothing but shadow covered his eyes as he stood there, his hate for her old man grew the more he pondered on how inhumane her father was. "Don't stop fighting, then... If you don't want to be like him then don't. I'll stay with you until the matches are done, then-" Abruptly interrupted by a crash nearby, both of their attention directed towards a faint dust cloud that wafted around close to them.
Someone had landed and to her surprise, a familiar grumble that only Wani could make, was heard and the very Crock himself strode out of the flown dirt. His head rolled around to pop his neck, his hands dusting off the excess dirt from his clothing, Shinso's guard rose and fully faced the approaching man. "Nah, you go ahead and get one of those... Teachers. I'll keep her company," From his natural crocodile smirk, his lips curled into a passive smile when he adjusted his vest and halted mere feet away from the two.
"No, I have to go get dressed. He'll think something's suspicious if I'm being too slow about it. So, just wait here okay?" Seeing her lacking the energetic and carefree front she always seemed to have, felt a little weird to Shinso. His purple eyes followed after her retreating form as she silently made her way inside the stadium.
Now it was just the two guys who kept each others' eyes glued to the other. A cautious stare directed toward Wani only made the Crocodile squint his own, annoyance was clear when he grumbled. "What're you staring at-- kid...?" With a fold of his arms and a flail from his tail, he questioned rather irritably.
"She told me about you. What is it you want from her? How do you know her father?" This time, to make sure he gets an answer, the boy's quirk activated when he asked and hoped Wani would answer; unfortunately, he watched the Crock struggle to speak...
Damn, this kid! From watching the matches on the big screen earlier, I know I can't answer him. I'm not about to let some kid poke their nose into my business! Anger swelled, his sharp teeth gritted after his angering bellows reached the boy's ears. All he did was stand there, until, a couple of steps forward made the boy's brow rise.
Balled fists now swung alongside his short stride, just to have one of them leave a large crack in the wall next to Shinso's head with a strong thrust and caused shards of the building to fall around his feet.
A fraction of a moment, his surprised eyes went back to their usual stare as soon as it came and only a curious hum left his lips. "Hmm...? So, you've watched my fight then? That would be the only reason why you'd know not to answer me," After a moment's pause he rubbed his neck, the boy's irritation was proven when a sigh left through his nose.
"He'll kill you... Kid. You and Yukimura's friend. Her father's a Hitman, he takes up jobs that'll pay him for killin' just about anyone and will wipe out anyone that learns of his secret or witnesses his killings. The man's scary, I'd suggest watchin' out for yourself instead of her if you want to live," Wani's annoyed face expressed a tiny glint of sympathy after he mentioned that last part. Even though he didn't much care for hero-to-bes', he didn't appreciate children being targeted and so, his anger towards the Hitman only boiled more.
Curious, a brow lifted to the large Crock when he heard the Hitman part. "So... Not only a villain... But a Hitman," Shinso questioned as he stood there pondering on it all, never in his life has he heard of a Hitman in this day and age. Or...at least with so many heroes running around, many people would think that it'd be pointless to be one.
~~~Haru~~~
Through the many citizens that wandered the halls of the stadium, Har-Har easily swerved and weaved her way through unseen. Thanks to her swift motions and skills, her stealth made it possible for her to rush back in and reach the girl's dressing room. A twist of the knob, in she went with a quick stride of her feet. Her speed was incredible, as fast as possible her locker opened and she undressed.
Her casual clothing... The yellow skinny jeans she wore once before that had a bit of a white snake-skin pattern, intricately tracing down the front of the pant legs, were put on. Her small brown boots that reached up around her ankle and a zipper that trailed down the top of them, were rushed on. That 3-split yellow top, where the straps dangled over her shoulders and were held up by another strap that goes around her neck, was soon slipped over her head after her white, tight, and sleeveless undershirt was put on.
From her pocket, her tan hand pulled out the same container she used to extract her venom and fiddled with it between her fingers. Thoughts of her fangs hurting swirled in her mind until she spoke to herself. "They haven't hurt in a while. I wonder why," Half concerned and half not, her brows furrowed, she's never gone a day without her fangs pulsating pain throughout her mouth before.
Quickly that container was stuffed back into her pocket, the very idea of meeting the league irked her a lot considering her father was forcing it. She didn't want this, she denied that invitation, and yet she has to go anyway?
With a lift of her hands, her ponytail was tightened a little more but not so much to make it unbearable. It remained loose so it continued to dangle during her trek out of the room.
Sprinting, the girl was just about to pass up a large screen displaying Kirishima's and Bakugo's fight. The very cheers and their names being announced weighed on her mind, she knew her best friend was still there but her urge to keep her safe pushed her to keep moving.
Trudging through the people who watched the screens throughout the halls, for just a second one of the teachers spotted her ponytail flailing past their faces. A pro hero covered in wood and his mask hiding his features, his hand reached out to gain her attention but he was too late.
"Hey, wait! Weren't you one of the-" As mentioned, it was too late when he asked because she was already gone. His eyes full of surprise only fell into confusion, the hero's outburst only made his buddy turn to see what he was going on about, and simply shrugged when he didn't see anyone.
~~~With Uviel~~
Left and right, his fists flew but were all evaded by the dirty blonde who kept a scowl on his face. Saito watched Kirishima and Bakugo fight, it was amazing to her. "Wow..." Amazed at his plan to dominate the stage with his manliness, her jaw slightly lazed until she watched Bakugo turn the table on him. Next, it was his turn to strike, throwing explosion after explosion when the darker redhead's arms shielded him from the blasts. It wasn't long until Eijiro was defeated, resulting in Bakugo advancing to the next round.
From one of the other seating areas with class 1-B, Tetsu rose with a fist shouting about his performance. "You idiot! You didn't have enough guts, Kirishima! I could show off my manliness to Saito, way better than you if I were on that stage!" Through a fit of anger, his fists pumped.
Uviel, on the other hand, was stunned at the fact that he lost. She was sure he'd be able to outlast Bakugo's stamina during his flurry of strikes if he endured it long enough. "To think he can withstand so many explosions... Is remarkable... Wait, now, that makes me wonder if he was going easy on me or not... Damn," Unbeknownst to her, those mumbles were surprisingly heard by Izuku who sat within the bundle of classmates, not a minute later after the screen displayed the next matches.
She didn't hear her classmates greet him and question his condition, her blue eyes only met green ones when he spoke. "Y- Yeah, he's pretty strong. To be honest, I don't think he was able to go all out during your match with him," A scratch to his cheek and his eyes closing, Midoriya, whose arm was now strapped up, answered her awkwardly.
"Why? I mean... Sure, I...sort of went crazy but..." Her gaze shifted to the floor with embarrassment and looked at an empty seat that was close to Fumikage and Mezou. Very slowly and nervously she moved to sit down and fidgeted with her now folded-up hoodie lying over her forearms. Fumi's gaze peeked down at her small frame curiously while Mez had done the same, they were both a bit concerned and interested in her previous behavior.
"I don't think he wanted to fight you while you weren't in control of yourself. He's not that type of guy, besides... I don't think he likes hitting girls," Uneasy about stating that last part, nervous sweat rolled down his face a bit before he went over to sit down too.
"That gives him no real reason to hold back, though..." Her mumbles were unheard when half of her face was buried into the poof of her hoodie. Those red cheeks brightened at how much of a man he was, she knew that a man shouldn't hit girls... Though her mind fought against the idea of him holding back, it still made her heart thump. How could I possibly like him this much?! This seriously sucks...! her mind vented out once she pushed her face further into her hoodie and groaned.
"Shouldn't you be resting?" Ochaco questioned Izuku next to her, pure worry was obvious on her face.
"I want to properly watch... The efforts of everyone who wants to become a hero," his words only made the brunette gasp faintly and return her eyes to the match that just started.
With both of them from the hero families, it's a battle of the elites! From the hero course, it's Tenya Iida, versus! Also from the hero course, Shoto Todoroki! Present Mic announced and not long did the fight begin. Her mouth dropped at the speed Iida went at, dodging his ice like mad and drop-kicking his leg onto his head soon after.
When he burst into full speed to get Shoto out of bounds, he froze in his step when ice coated his jets. It went by so quickly after that and not too much longer did Mic announce that the Asura boy would advance to the final round.
~~~With Haru~~~
Now that she was dressed, around the corner came the brunette with her dagger stashed away and her school bag over her shoulder. Har-Har stood, watching the two guys converse about small details about her father. "Alright, you two! You better leave before he gets back, I don't want you getting gutted like a fish," With a sigh leaving her lips she spoke, and through her eyes, she watched those colored silhouettes shift to view her. However, the sound of metal cutting wind came closer to Shinso and caused her instincts to push her.
Her belongings dropped, her dagger was pulled out, and it all happened in slow motion to show exactly what was cutting through the air. A Shimmer of a blade glinting light as a blur of black and gray pointed out a rapier towards the boy.
Her quick reflexes allowed her to bolt and raise her dagger to deflect the strike that nearly touched Shinso's nose. As soon as the speed picked up again, the Hitman's rapier was harshly brushed aside thanks to her dagger, and made it lightly bend from the impact.
(Here's his picture, I hope you like him! :DD This took me forever to make...nearly a week oh my word...)
Her father, with his stern face, as usual, jumped back and landed perfectly on his feet like a skilled combatant. His cane was not only a cane, but a hidden rapier to pose as one, and his suitcase was gone. The black hat he wore was wedged between his armpit, she assumed he took it off to strike. Very slowly did their awestruck gazes watch as he slowly put it back on and peeked just beneath the edge of it. "Dad, stop it! Don't kill him!" Her scream showed the amount of fear that was in her voice but that didn't stop him...
The Hitman simply vanished, just to appear on the other side of the boy and have his rapier get deflected again with Haru's hasted movement. He was so fast, too fast for her, but she was able to keep up with him even though it was costing her stamina greatly... "Dad, leave him alone!" Quickly Haru pushed Shinso back into a corner and held him against the wall, leaving very few openings for him to strike. "If you want to kill him then kill me too! He's a friend and I won't let you-" Before she could even finish, Wani strode up to her old man and grumbled dangerously.
Shinso was too stunned at how fast the Hitman moved, not even a stir from the grass...or a shift from the leaves. Not a sound was heard and yet, Haru could still pick up on his movements. It baffled him...
The clean scalp of her father's reflected rays from the sun just seconds before he disappeared with a scowl. High above the far corner where Shinso stood, the Hitman flipped upside down and aimed his rapier straight for the boy's head. A foot kicking off of one wall made him descend fast like the many times he's moved, causing the said brunette to push her speed to the limits.
With a twist of her waist, the girl used her snake flexibility to stretch herself around and raise her dagger. As fast as her body could constrict, turn around, and move, the girl was already struggling to keep up. Her blade deflected his just in time, only allowing a stray hair of Shinso's to float away before her father vanished again.
All three heads peered over at the snake man who stood a distance away, contemplating. His face contorted with anger that was threatening to get out and his black eyes continued to dart between the two who kept him away from his target. How annoying...! Haru, you're going to pay for this... In his mind, fury laced his voice, and gradually, his blade pointed to his daughter with threat radiating like a pulsating light.
Wani, who clamped his hands onto his hips, snarled at the Hitman when he stood in front of the two. "Now listen. I may not be a fan of heroes, but not even I... Am so low as to kill kids!" His large, muscular frame blocked most of the view from Haru and Shinso.
They both watched in fear as the Crock stiffened his abdomen and biceps, everything, with a cocky grin. "You know better than anyone, don't you? To not strike me!" Suddenly, his scaly hide pushed out tiny, almost unnoticeable sharp points. A low chuckle came from his now sharp, toothy grin and bore his slits into black ones.
However, not once did he notice the man's plans and calculations running through the Hitman's head; his eyes continued to inspect each possible opening. Sadly, the Crock was too large to get around and to strike with precision, so he did the only possible thing he could do.
With such speed, the Hitman vanished and grabbed his daughter within seconds before disappearing again. If he couldn't kill his target, then he'd take his daughter as he had planned and fulfill the duty he had in mind. He was gone, but only for a moment until the silence was soon filled with screams on top of a nearby roof.
"Let go of me! Let go! I don't want to go!" Stabbing as hard as she could with her dagger, not even a dent into his skin nor a scratch could be seen; only a few rips into the backside of his suit were made. Har-Har flailed her legs as she laid upon his shoulder, with his arm holding her down and his now sheathed rapier posing as his cane.
Fear and fury were all that could be seen on her face, however, not even the slightest flinch from her father came. Only his seething glare was focused on the kid in the corner and the Crock.
"EEER, I won't let you take her! She said she didn't want to join!" Wani's rage fumed as soon as he bolted towards the building they stood on. He may not be quick, but his legs gave him longer strides and allowed him to reach the building relatively fast.
"I overheard what you two argued about!" Shinso shouted this time and stepped away from the corner, but when he did, Wani had to rush to his side. The boy was a bit thankful that he did because if he hadn't, he would've had a blade in his head... Her father's rapier, instead, scratched at the Crock's skin within seconds, and... What the boy wasn't expecting, was for the same scratch to appear on the Hitman.
A faint wince, hardly noticeable, before he vanished and was never to be seen again. Now, there Wani stood, lifting a hand to feel at the spot that bled. His ribs, that rapier somehow reached under his vest and scratched him there. He was just relieved he had his quirk activated. The large Crock didn't even feel the pain, it didn't even make him wince when he turned around to view the boy. "Now scram, he's gone... Go tell those teachers or whatever you were gonna do! I got some pickin' around with that League," A nasty grin formed when he looked back at the spot the Hitman left from, there was some hell to pay and he was happy to play the part.
Unbeknownst to the huge Crock, Shinso gave him a nod before rushing back into the stadium. He had to do something...even if it was in the middle of the festival.
