Chapter 15: Eyes that cast fear.

Hey guys, are you ready?! Present Mic's voice boomed throughout the stadium which in turn, made the crowd go wild in their seats. A lot's happened, but now it's come to this! A serious battle! You can only depend on yourself! Even if you're not a hero, you'll face many situations like that! You get it, right?! Heart, skill, body, wisdom, and knowledge! Use all of that to rush up! he finished, with his enthusiasm reaching the audience.

Everyone gathered in the specific place where all fighters must stay, Uviel stood against the wall inside the hallway with nervous beads of sweat rolling down her face and Haru kept giggling to herself. The snake girl remained close to the hall's exit and waited for her moment to sprint for the platform. Audience! The finals that you've all been waiting for are finally starting!

Match one! Though she was the fifth team, she was only in a team of two and pulled through with her blindness! She certainly seems excited! The announcer exclaimed when the brunette came skipping out of the hall and onto the stage, the girl kept giving peace signs to the audience during so. From the hero course, it's Haru Yukimura! Up against...

From general studies, it's Hitoshi Shinso! Mic exclaimed over his com as the boy wandered onto the platform with a smirk plastered. He acted as though he knew exactly how to win, though when he saw her giggling excitedly and giving everyone peace signs... He couldn't help but chuckle. The rules are simple! Force your opponent out of bounds or immobilize them! You can also win by making your opponent say, "I give up"! The teacher's booming voice never ceased when the girl finally faced the boy, whose purple eyes bore into hazed green ones.

Bring on the injuries! Because we have our very own Recovery Girl waiting on standby! Put your morals and ethics aside for one moment! But of course, anything life-threatening is crap! It's not allowed! Heroes should only use their fists to catch villains! Cementos made a quick comment amid Present Mic's speech and reassured everyone that he'd step in if it ever came to that.

At the mention of fists only being allowed, a frown formed the moment she recalled the dagger that was hidden away inside of her sheathe. Wow, maybe I should've put my dagger away in a locker or something. Daaaang, looks like I'll have to avoid using it! Aaaaah-- poop on a stick! Annoyed, Har-Har faintly groaned until an idea came to mind, making that frown rise with mischievousness. Hey, that just means I can play my little quiet game like I did before the tournament started!~ Hahaaaaaa, cool! I wonder if I can creep him out.~ amused snickering fell from her mouth after her head lowered and allowed a shadow veiled over her hues.

"I've noticed your odd dark grins and your strange childish antics at times, you're very supportive...but... Would that benefit a hero's job? You don't seem to take anything seriously and to be a hero, you need to take every situation seriously if you're to save lives," he started, however, not once did her grin fall or even so much as twitch for any indication that he was getting somewhere.

When the announcer exclaimed start, his purple eyes observed her movement when she began to walk around the edges of the platform and her blind ones never left him; it was as though the girl was a predator sizing up her prey. "You're interesting... But there are some dark sides to you, that, I'm sure of," From his words, he took notice of a millisecond halt in her step before continuing her pace. I hit a nerve somewhere... I know that her father beat her that night, Saito told me at the hospital. But would that make her have such a dark side? Heroes are supposed to take care of trouble like that, he's just an abusive parent who can be put to jail with such ease. Why didn't she call for a hero's help, let alone the police? for a brief moment, he noted in his mind and chose to push further.

A dark side to me, heh?~ He has no idea... What kind of dark side I have. Yukimura pondered and only a second did her eyes squint, before returning to their normal mischievous ones.

"A dark side that seems to show itself pretty often when no one's looking. It shows on your mouth, on your face, and occasionally whenever everyone's backs are turned. What are you hiding...? To become a hero, one mustn't even possess ill intentions in their mind and must take things more seriously than what you are showing now... What secrets are you keeping from-" Before he could finish his sentence, Shinso just barely moved his head in time when the brunette disappeared and reappeared before him. Her straightened-out hand reached after him to stab his neck but when he tilted back at that moment to avoid it, she...disappeared. A small gust of wind brushed against his hair and felt a faint sensation against his backside, her long, low ponytail gently waving in the breeze.

Her back was to him, a dark, sinister grin that she tried so hard to keep to herself, appeared and nothing but shade covered her eyes. Those long bangs hid most of her upper face while her blind, green, eerie hues pierced through the shadow. "Uviel... My best friend growing up, she's the light of day to me. She barely knows the darkness in my heart and will probably never truly know... You, though...you better keep your nose out of this darkness because you might smell something disturbing or foul," Dark, threatening, her reply was and it made the boy's eyes widen by just a fraction.

Now, it was his turn to smirk. At that very moment, he turned to face her, and his eyes squinted. Gradually he walked around her, just to see her surprised features and gaping mouth. "Good, now we're finally getting somewhere. You see, I've been curious about you since I saw you eat in the cafeteria on your first day in U.A. Before I make you give up... I want some answers," his grin soon dropped and his hand rose to make her head lift so he could look into those mysterious blind eyes.

I... I can't move! Is this why Ojiro said to not answer him?! This must be his quirk! Her thoughts rammed around in panic as she gazed upon the wavering colored figure of Shinso.

"By using my quirk... I can make you do or say anything...and what I want, are answers. Now... I'll avoid more personal ones but for now, answer me this..." he began and made sure to keep his words quiet to not let the audience hear their conversations. As he inched closer, those purple hues narrowed at the question that lingered in his mind for so long. "I know that your father beats you and he was the reason for you ending up the way you did... So, why didn't you call the police or a hero? It wouldn't be any trouble for them, it would be very easy to put him behind bars..." that one question made panic rise inside of her and caused her heart to thud hard against her chest.

Don't tell him, please don't make me tell him! I don't want to tell him! Please don't tell him! Did Uviel tell him about my situation with my dad?! Did he find out on his own?! For the love of all things, please don't make me answer! Her devastated monologue repeated those sentences and not long after she felt her mouth move on its own. "My father, I'm so scared of him... He's not your average parent, he's a supervillain and I'm so scared to send heroes or the police after him... I have mixed feelings about him, he raised me all by himself and beat me black and blue. I don't know what to do," answering his question, utter shock, and devastation could be seen in her wavering gaze that looked as though they could break down into tears at any moment.

He saw it in her eyes, he could tell that she was screaming on the inside and begging him to stop. The answer that he got wasn't something he expected, it certainly made astonishment show in his eyes and his lips to part at the mention of what her father was. Him, being a supervillain, would be even more of a reason to send heroes after him...! So, her mixed feelings are holding her back, and on top of that, fear... Just how strong is her father? A scary expression fell over his face at the thought and his head lowered, he didn't like where his answers were going. "Thanks... I'll leave the rest alone for the time being... Now, give up," simply put, he didn't want to fight her he just wanted some answers and wanted to make sure he won so he could move on.

No! No! Fuck, no, no, no, no! I won't go down that easily! I refuse, I won't let you walk away knowing you know about my father! No! Anger welled up inside the more she thought about how he used his quirk on her like that and her struggling fists could be seen as they gradually clenched. Gritted teeth, green hazy hues waved in devastation and anger...until...a whispered voice echoed in the back of her mind.

Kill, kill him! Let. Me. Out! All of a sudden, as her hand slowly rose, the one grin that many would quiver in their shoes at seeing, grew on her lips. It was like something took over her, something dark, sinister, something wicked that people would only see in a villain. "Heeehehehehe!~" he couldn't control her speech nor the struggling of her head when she fought against the force of his quirk.

What he never expected...was for her eyes...to change... The film over her blind eyes acted as though it turned to ash and revealed something that he thought would only be in a nightmare... Snake slits replaced her pupils and a bright green glow outlined them, gradually fading into a darker green with small radiating specs in some spots of her newly obtained eyes.

Fear, he felt nothing but fear when her new snake eyes bore into his purple ones. His hair stood up on their ends, the sound of his beating heart reached his ears the more he stared into those glowing eyes. W- What?! I can't move?! What's this all of a sudden?! Now he was the one in panic, they both stood there gazing upon each other while her hand continued to fight against his quirk.

Petrified, he was, but not to stone... No. All the nerves in his body seemed to have shut down from the fear that struck his heart. "I can see clearly, now...~ As clear as day, I can see what you really look like! So clear, so colorful, so amazing!" Yukimura exclaimed with glee as tears began to brim her eyes. Something caught her attention, yes she could finally see but at the cost of her target's heart becoming fear-struck at the sight of her. "It's so beautiful... Everything..." All of the colors that she was once used to seeing in her senses, were nothing compared to the beauty around her and the people that the girl saw.

However, that was just the beginning... What she thought was a blessing during that moment, soon turned into a curse the second her head began to throb. "AAAH!" The boy was dumbstruck, he even released his hold on her from his quirk and watched her grip the sides of her head. Confusion replaced the fear that once settled on his face after her slits moved to the ground when her head deeply lowered. "It hurts, it hurts, it hurts...!" Scared out of her mind her quivering voice spoke, it felt like something was beating her on the inside of her skull.

"What... Hurts?" Shinso was curious and worried enough to question the brunette, though he didn't show too much of it on his face, but his gaze surely did.

Now, the girl began to swing her head and scratch at her scalp. The teachers, students in the halls that watched, the audience, everyone stood quiet and confused at the odd display. Even more so when they both heard a bloodcurdling scream reach throughout the stadium that would send chills down anyone's spine; a scream that many would hear from a horror movie... "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" there it was, a horrific cry of pain when the girl leaned her head back and froze in place. Hands still attached to her head, fingers deep under her hair, it wasn't long until her arms fell to her sides and her head remained leaned back.

"Yuki...mura...?" Everyone fell silent from her outburst, even Cemetos rose from his seat with pure concern washing over his stone face at the girl's display.

What's gotten into Yukimura, all of a sudden?! She just screamed bloody murder and now she's frozen! She's quiet now, what's going on!? Present Mic's voice boomed over the com, even though he was worried at what he just witnessed.

Something's not right with that girl... Aizawa's comment came after the announcer's and kept his gaze glued to the odd brunette.

Purple eyes widened at the sight of Yukimura's head gradually lowering back down and when he saw her expression, it wasn't normal. "I'm free...~" Eerie, dark, ominous, almost like a whisper her voice was and those piercing widened slits of hers bore into his own. At that moment he concluded, that each time someone were to look into her eyes, they'd freeze in their spot from the sheer sense of fear. Because he felt it once more when he looked into those gleaming hues.

"Har-Har...?" Uviel, from the hall, her blue hues lit up with disbelief. Never in her life had she seen such behaviors from her best friend and it truly worried her. A step forward, the redhead attempted to intervene, just to feel someone's hand prevent her from doing so.

"Stay here, it's against the rules to interrupt someone's match unless it's Cementos," Ochaco, whose shocked gaze remained on the brunette in the distance, placed her hand on Saito's shoulder and frowned. "Don't worry, if something gets out of hand he'll step in! I just know it!" As much as she hated the idea of just standing there and letting it happen, the girl knew better than to intervene so she had to stop the redhead.

"B- But, you don't know her like I do! She might kill him!" Uviel for once, snapped back with panic and anger lacing her voice. Her words made everyone in the hall flinch at her outburst, even Kirishima gasped. Not too much longer did they hear amused giggling from the snake-girl, the very sound of it made everyone's attention return to her.

"Heeehehehehehehehe...~" Those piercing, radiating slits not once moved from his frame as her feet patted over to the fear-struck boy. Her steps became sluggish the closer she got and suddenly, her upper half began to sway. Not from dizziness nor the lack of balance, but as a dance.

Her head swayed from side to side like a snake that would dance to specific instruments and it made her body do the same, on occasion her knees would bend. Lowering herself with her knees together, swerving her hips, swaying her head, rising back up, it was a literal...mocking dance.

Her sinister grin which would show many times during moments of dark humor, showed itself again. "What's the matter?~ I'm a blind girl, you should be able to hit me with no problems...~ Go ahead, knock me out of bounds, make me give up, and let's see if you can push me over with your quirk.~ Let's see... If you can command a snake to move," Her grin never fell, her slits remained wide as they bore deeply into purple ones during her little mocking dance.

I can't move! I can't- his panicking monologue soon got interrupted when the girl started to shake her head, repeating the word no countless times.

"No, no, no, no, no, no!" During that moment, Haru's slits gradually returned to their blind ones and tears streamed down her tan cheeks. Fear was clear on her features, the very feel of it resulted in quivering nerves and lips. Not another word was spoken, in pure silence, no warning... Yukimura just ran... The girl ran off of the platform in panic, in fear of what she might've done if she hadn't taken control of herself in time.

Past her classmates who tried to stop her and a couple of teachers who attempted to gain her attention, the brunette refused to even make eye contact with anyone as she sprinted down the halls and through the inside of the stadium. "HARUUUU!" Saito's scream and plea for her to halt didn't even work, her outstretched hand was the only part of her that made it past the students if it weren't for Kiri who stopped her from giving chase. "Let go of me! She needs me, she needs me! Don't let me lose her, don't let me lose someone else!" Tears fell from those blue hues, drops of them landed on his hardened forearm where they were wrapped around her stomach from behind.

"Saito, what are you talking about!? She's not going anywhere, she's stuck to you like glue she won't go very far! Trust me on this!" Kirishima's voice snapped her back to reality and when it did, recognition hit her like a truck...

She said something that might have just revealed a tiny piece of her mystery that she knew, only Izuku and Ida, knew about... There the girl froze, her hand never left the air as Saito took notice of everyone's concerned eyes upon her. Kiri knew he had to use his quirk to hold onto her, knowing that the girl was a cyborg... She'd be naturally stronger than most girls her age and size. It made it hard for her to break through his hold, so when her stunning eyes peeked over her shoulder at him he noticed her tears. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make you cry!" his quirk was instantly dismissed when his arms let go and became frantic in his panicked state at the sight.

"Hey, hey, what's going on? What do you mean by lose someone else?" Mina, whose black and yellow eyes worriedly gazed upon the cyber-girl, stepped closer to gain her attention.

"N- Nothing, it's nothing... Sorry, I just... Never mind, ok? Forget I said anything," Depression, and pain, were obvious when she lowered her eyes to the floor and allowed the shade to veil over them. The redhead stepped back and pressed her backside against the wall, just to slide down it. Knees pressing against her chest, her arms wrapping around them, the cyber-girl buried her face into her forearms and stayed a small distance away from the worried students. She didn't care to pay attention too much to what Present Mic was saying now, but she knew the next round was going to start and saw Izuku's feet halt before her. The boy was up next but he wanted to say something before he stepped foot onto the platform.

"Hey um, let's go look for her later after the tournament's over, k? I- I mean, if that's fine with you!" Midoriya offered with an awkward rub at the back of his neck and soon heard Eijiro chime in, after feeling his hand pat the boy's shoulder.

"Yeah, I can go with you guys too! We could look for her together, I'm sure she hasn't gotten far and I don't think she'd go very far from you either, Saito!~ Don't worry, you two won't be separated for long!" His beaming smile and contagious laughter, the thumbs-up she received only made the girl's eyes light up with sparkling hope.

"Ok... Thank you," When Uviel answered in her quivering, quiet voice, her head was soon buried once more into her forearms; mostly to hide her heavy blush than to hide the continuous streaming tears that didn't stop falling.
