"The rain has finally let up..." Tokoyami says. The two of you stand drenched and covered in mud.

"Yeah..." You let out a sigh of relief as you look around at the scene in front of you. As you turn your head, the tree blazing with fire enters your vision once more, and you instinctively jerk away from it. Tokoyami tightens his grip on you, pulling you closer against him.

"It's okay, Y/n. It won't hurt you." He says calmly. "Are you able to put the fires out? We don't want them to spread."

"R-Right... Thank you, Tokoyami." You give him a nervous smile. "I'm just a little flinchy from it still, I guess..."

Concern fills Tokoyami's eyes as he stares down at you. He nods and rubs your back gently. "I'll be right beside you while you put them out."

"I'm fine, really! You should keep an eye on him, I'll be fine." You gesture towards the unconscious villain, trying to sound reassuring as you talk to Tokoyami.

"You don't sound confident, Y/n. Dark Shadow can keep guard over this criminal while you extinguish the fires. I'll stay next to you." Tokoyami says, his hand still gripping your waist as he holds you in place next to him.

"Are you sure?" You ask hesitantly, and Tokoyami nods. "Thank you, Tokoyami." A small smile graces your lips, and Tokoyami feels his mouth go dry and his palms grow sweaty. He becomes hyper aware of his arm around your waist and no longer knows what to do with it.

"O-Of course..." He mumbles, looking away from you. His fingers twitch against your waist as his hand stiffens, and his hand placement suddenly feels forbidden and dirty.

Sensing his discomfort, you laugh a little and gently remove his hand from your waist. "I'm okay, Tokoyami, you don't have to hold me like I'm going to fall again. But... If you don't mind..." You trail off as you hesitantly link your arm around his, holding on to his bicep. "Is this okay...?"

Tokoyami can feel his heart hammering against his chest as you look up at him so nervously, still scared to go close to the flames by yourself. He glances down at your arm wrapped around and holding his, and he swallows as he meets your eyes once more. He awkwardly nods, and you give him a small smile back, just as awkward as his body language. "We should hurry and put them out before Hawks and the police arrive..." Tokoyami says, scratching the back of his neck.

"R-Right!" Letting out a deep breath, you turn to the flaming tree. Gathering the water from the ground, you step a little closer to it with Tokoyami. Giving his arm a tight squeeze, you step close enough to extinguish the towering flames. With all of the water from the storm, there's more than enough.

"I've got you." Tokoyami catches your eyes and nods in encouragement.

"Thank you..." You give him a nervous smile and turn back to the flames. The heat radiating off of them makes your skin crawl, but you force yourself to stay where you are. The water you're holding is getting heavy, and there are several other small fires to put out, so you raise your hand higher. With the water aimed at the tree, you blast the fire, quickly dousing the flames.

"There you go. That wasn't so bad, was it?" Tokoyami nods.

"Yeah... Thanks, Tokoyami." You smile. "Let's get the other trees before my nerves get worse."

Tokoyami follows you to the other trees, and by the time the police arrive, you're putting out the last fire. They quickly hurry towards the captured villain, and the two of you walk over to meet them.

"Talk about a mess..." One of the officers says to you. "Hawks told us you saw him inject himself with something, huh?"

"Yes... He pulled it out of his pocket and injected himself before we could stop him." Tokoyami explains.

"He got crazy strong once he did. It was like his quirk suddenly got an upgrade or something...! He was shooting lighting from his palms and became even more powerful. I accidentally broke the device during the fighting, though..." You admit, pointing out the broken device on the ground. The police officer takes an evidence bag and drops the broken device into it, shaking his head.

"It's rare that things go well when it comes to drugs like these. You two are still first years, right? You did well handling the situation. I know officers who would run if they saw a villain suddenly power up like that. Good work." The officer seals the bag and pats both of you on the shoulder. As his coworkers load the unconscious villain into an iron maiden, a shadow falls over the ground.

"Good work you guys!!" Hawks drops down. "Can't believe you two were dealing with a crazy drugged villain while I was just catching a few guys in balaclavas." He sighs. "I'm proud of you two! We'll have to get something good to eat after that!"

"We'll need to go back to the agency and shower before anyone lets us into a restaurant." Tokoyami sighs, looking down at his costume and over to you. Mud coats you both, and you look like a pair of piglets who enjoyed a mud bath in the summer.

Hawks and the officer laugh in response. "Yeah, you two look like you had more trouble fighting the mud than the villain!" Hawks snickers. "Let's get all of the reports out of the way, and then Hydra, why don't you power wash the mud away? That way we don't have to go all the way back."

"That works." You shrug. For the next while you and Tokoyami explain everything that happened once Hawks left, and answer any questions the police have for you. Finally, they have all of the information and photos of the scene that they need, and they pack up to leave. A news reporter tries to come over, but the police shoo him away. He still manages to snap a few photos of you and Tokoyami drenched in mud, much to your embarrassment. Once everyone leaves, it's just you, Tokoyami, and Hawks left.

"Alright Hydra, time to get rid of all that mud now." Hawks chuckles. "Hand me anything you two don't want to get wet." You both hand over your phones. You keep yours in a waterproof pocket on your costume, so it's obviously fine, but it's a miracle that Tokoyami's isn't ruined.

"I'll wash myself off first, then..." You say. It's still pretty humid out, so it's easy to grab enough water from the air to power wash yourself off. The mud sprays off, and Hawks laughs as he narrowly avoids the droplets.

"Watch it! I don't want mud all over my feathers!" Hawks says, stepping further away.

"Oh I'm sorry, is the great Hawks afraid of some mud?" You laugh.

"Hey! I work hard to keep these feathers pristine!" He chuckles as he steps farther away from you.

Tokoyami chuckles as he watches you spray Hawks and rinse the mud off of you. Once you're done, you turn to Tokoyami.

"Alright! Your turn!" You laugh.

"Don't spray me too much–" Tokoyami is cut off as you blast his chest with water, quickly washing away the mud. "Gah! That's too much! I'm drenched now!" He groans as you spray water all over him.

"Don't worry! I'll dry you off after!" You step closer and grin up at him. Covering your hand in water, you lean up and wipe the mud from his face and feathers gently. Tokoyami blushes as you cup his face with one hand and wipe away the mud with the other, but thankfully you can't see it due to his feathers. Behind you, Hawks makes goofy lovey faces at Tokoyami, who pretends not to see him in his embarrassment.

"Hm? Tokoyami, your face feels all warm. Is the water too hot? I thought I had it at room temperature... Do you want me to cool it down?" You ask, not noticing Hawks' teasing behind you.

"It's fine... That's enough." Tokoyami says, gently pushing your hands away in embarrassment as he glares over your shoulder at Hawks' kissy faces.

"Alright, turn around then, and I'll wash the rest of the mud off." You smile. He awkwardly shuffles around, and you spray the mud away. "Perfect! Nice and clean!"

"...Can you dry me off now then?" Tokoyami is drenched and dripping with water. With a laugh, you place your palms near him and evaporate the water covering him.

"Is everything dry?" You ask, leaning around his shoulder to look at his face.

"Y-Yes... You shouldn't be so close..." He awkwardly looks away from you.

"Oh, lighten up, Tsukuyomi! You're good friends, aren't you?" Hawks chuckles and gently smacks him on the back. "I don't know what kind of fraternization rules there are at UA, but I'm not going to tell you off for contact!"

Tokoyami flushes more, and he gives Hawks a dirty look as you laugh. "Come on, we're all dry now, so let's go get something to eat! I'm starving already thanks to that fight!"

With that, the three of you head off to go find something to eat.
