"Alrighty! We're heading out now! Bye guys, we'll see you in a couple days!" You wave to your classmates who are lounging in the common area. They wave back and wish you and Tokoyami a fun trip. You both head to the airport and have an incredibly easy time navigating your way through thanks to the lack of Hawks' presence. A few people notice you, but it's without interruptions for the most part.

"Hmm... It's cloudy here today. We'll both benefit from the weather." Tokoyami says as you step out into the city.

"Perfect! I'm so excited! We'd better hurry; Hawks will call us slow!" You laugh and start jogging down the sidewalk. "Come on, Tokoyami!"

Tokoyami sighs a little as he watches you grin back at him and take off down the street. He follows after you, jogging as well. The two of you hop on a bus, and soon you're in front of Hawks' agency.

"We're here!" You call as you open the front doors.

Hawks' receptionist looks up as you enter. "Oh! Hawks already headed out on his morning patrol. He said for you two to change into your costumes and contact him through your radio on where to meet him. You can leave your things with me. I'll make sure they get brought to your rooms."

"He didn't even wait for us...?" Tokoyami sighs.

"We'd better hurry then, right, Tokoyami?" You grin and race off towards the bathroom to change, thanking Hawks' receptionist as you run past her. Tokoyami can't help but be slightly amused by your enthusiasm as he heads off to do the same.

When you've changed and dropped your bags off at the front desk, the receptionist stops you. "Oh, before you go... This came in for you, Hydra." She hands you a box.

"For me? What is it?" You take the box and set it down on the counter. Tokoyami leans over it as well, interested in what's inside. It's not very big, and when you open it, there's a small visor helmet inside. "No way!! This must be from Engitech!!"

"Engitech...?" Tokoyami asks.

"He's one of Firetamer's sidekicks! He took over handling my costume! He's crazy good at making things!" You explain as you take it out of the box. It's almost a mix between safety glasses and goggles with a small part that goes on your head. The instructions are on a paper inside the box, and you quickly scan over them.

"Why the change?" Tokoyami asks.

"You remember that guy, Shindo, from Ketsubutsu?" You ask Tokoyami.

"How could I forget..." Tokoyami mutters as he thinks back to watching Shindo shamelessly flirt with you.

"Well, we were texting, and he suggested I change my helmet to something that shows my face off a bit more." You tell him.

"An older boy told you to get rid of your helmet... So you did?" Tokoyami gives you a surprised look. "I didn't think you would be so... Suasible..."

"Sua-what?" You tilt your head at Tokoyami as you put your new headpiece on.

"Easily persuaded..." Tokoyami clarifies. "You shouldn't change important aspects of your costume, especially the ones that are there for safety, just because an upperclassman told you to show off your face."

You can't help but laugh at Tokoyami's serious expression. "Don't worry! My helmet isn't gone. Besides, Hawks is the one who ordered it. He saw Shindo's text and immediately agreed that it would help my popularity if people could see more of my face. Not to mention, the mirrored visor was bad for trying to help that little girl calm down the other day." As you talk, you push a button on the side of it, and the small headpiece rapidly covers your entire head in a helmet.

"Interesting..." Tokoyami nods as he watches. "You'll have to be careful and make sure it's working every day."

"You're one to be worried! You don't even really have any protective gear on your costume." With a laugh, you poke at Tokoyami's cape.

"I suppose... Helmets are too awkward for me to wear." Tokoyami responds. Leaving your old helmet with the receptionist, the two of you head out. The radio quickly syncs up in your new one, and you call Hawks on it.

"Hawks! Tokoyami and I are ready to meet up with you. Where are you?"

"Hey!! Glad you're here! Tsukuyomi! It's been a while! I'm glad to have you back!" Hawks says over the radio. He tells you both where to meet up, and you turn to head out.

"It will take a while to get there by foot..." Tokoyami sighs.

"Not to worry!!" You give Tokoyami a big grin and grab his hand. "I should be able to carry both of us!"

"W-What...?? No, that's not–" Tokoyami looks embarrassed as he glances down at your hand holding his. Before he can even finish his sentence, you tug him closer and create an ice board under both of your feet.

"Just hold on!" You laugh and shoot into the air. Tokoyami clutches desperately onto your arm.

"Y-Y/n!! Give me more warning!" His fingers dig into your arm, making you laugh again.

"It's fine! I've got the hang of this!" A strong gust of wind hits the two of you, and you have to freeze both of your feet to keep you both from slipping off. "Kind of...!!"

Tokoyami looks like he's going to puke. "Put me back on the ground...!!"

"You're a bird, Tokoyami! Hawks was talking about getting you in the air, too, so you can't be scared of heights!"

"It's not the heights...! It's your–" Tokoyami gags as you speed through the sky. "Your flying isn't very... Smooth...!"

A laugh escapes you again. "Hey, I only just learned how to do this! We'll be there soon!"

Tokoyami doesn't seem too enthusiastic about staying in the air with your flying, especially since you're extra wobbly with his added weight throwing your balance off. The two of you have almost reached the street Hawks said to meet up on, and a shadow covers you.

"Hey! You got Tsukuyomi in the air!" Arcing your heads up, you're both met with Hawks' grinning face.

"Hawks! Hi!" You match his expression, and Tokoyami manages to spit out a hello.

"Tsukuyomi, you remember how I told you I picked you 20% for being a bird, and 50% because I was interested in your class?" Hawks asks as the three of you fly. Tokoyami nods, and Hawks continues. "Well, the other 30% was because I felt like you have a lot of wasted potential. So, starting soon, we're getting you airborne, too! If Hydra managed to pull off the impossible, it'll be easy for you!"

"The impossible...? Hey! You said it'd be easy for me with my quirk!! You said you knew I could do it! Are you saying you were just saying that to get me to try??" You grumble to Hawks.

"Nah, I knew you could! You UA kids are crazy! Especially you two! I don't doubt you'll both surpass me by the time you graduate." Hawks assures you.

"How am I supposed to fly, though? All I have is Dark Shadow."

"You need to think more optimistically!" Hawks chuckles. "Instead of thinking you only have Dark Shadow, you should be thinking, wow, I have Dark Shadow!"

"Okay... But I still don't see how that helps me to fly..."

"Well... Dark Shadow can float. Why can't you?" Hawks asks.

"I'm not Dark Shadow...?"

Dark Shadow pokes out at his mention, and is excited to see what's happening. "We're flying!"

"Dark Shadow, do you think you can lift Tokoyami into the air?" Hawks asks.

"Hmm..." Dark Shadow seems to think for a minute, and he yanks Tokoyami up by his armpits. Because Tokoyami's feet are still frozen to your board, he pulls the back half of your board up with him. With your balance shot, Tokoyami slams into you as you both fall forward.

"Not right now, not right now!!!" You yelp as you flail your arms. Hawks laughs and grabs onto the two of you, preventing you from plummeting.

"We'll try that again later when we're on the ground." Hawks laughs, looking at both of your pale and terrified faces. "For now, let's go on patrol!!"
