Angel

I am trash for guardian angel shiz so we're gonna have a fluff and angst chapter bc late night inspiration happened!!

And gee, I wonder who's the guardian angel in this au?

TW: probably swearing as usual.

Jeremy rolled on his bed lazily, trying to get comfortable as he died in his game yet again.

"Stupid shroobs..." He mumbled, slamming the DS closed and laying in on the bedside table. "You're almost as big of assholes as the students at school." He closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep, unaware that he was being watched.

Now it wasn't the creepy kind if watching, no, his guardian angel, Michael Mell, was watching him, trying to hide the immense blush on his face.

"Why are you so adorable yet so sad Jeremy?" He whispered, glad Jeremy couldn't hear him.

As the boy fell asleep, Michael gently began running his hands through his brown locks, smiling at the contact. What he wouldn't do to let Jeremy see him.

But it was against every policy and rule Michael had to follow. "Never let the person you're guarding see you, because you'll be stripped of your title and you will become mortal." And mortal meant he could die.

And Michael didn't want to die. He didn't want to exist somewhere without Jeremy...and dying would do just that.

He was still stroking Jeremy's hair and noticed his hand wasn't see through anymore.

"Shit." He mumbled, realizing he'd actually let himself become visible. Jeremy rolled over and opened his eyes gently, and Michael turned red at how adorable he was.

Finally Jeremy's eyes opened all the way and he almost screamed, but Michael quickly stopped him.

"Please don't scream. I didn't mean to...do this...umm... sorry..." Michael mumbled and Jeremy was still trying to scream. "Just...forget you seen me okay?"

"But...who are you?" Jeremy asked and Michael's wings finally manifested and Jeremy's eyes were immediately drawn to them.

"Your.. guardian angel..." Michael explained and Jeremy's eyes widened. "I've actually been with you since you were little."

"Oh...so...we're friends but not at the same time?"

"I guess." Michael really really wanted to tell Jeremy how he felt but that was a no can do.

"So...who all can see you?"

"Right now, everybody could. I could make it so you could just see me but that would be weird... how about this." Michael snapped and his wings vanished. "Now I can hang out with you."

"Okay I guess? I mean, I'm still very confused but...okay."

"Sweet." Michael smiled, and he got off the bed, allowing Jeremy to sit up. "So where we goin?"

***

Jeremy had decided to drag Michael to the arcade, since all he seemed to know how to do was play video games.

"So...can you die?"

"No."

"Wait, does everybody have a guardian angel?"

"No, only those who need one."

"Okay can you see who has a guardian angel?"

"Mmhm. All angels cans ee each other, but our humans can't. Pretty simple."

"Okay...what happens if somebody other than me found out you were an angel?"

"I'd...be stripped of my job. They'd take away my wings and I'd become mortal."

"Ouch, wouldn't that hurt though?"

"Nah, it's practically magic."

"Okay then...oh hey look we're here." Jeremy grabbed Michael's hand and pulled him inside. "What do you wanna play first? Umm...are you okay?"

"So many games..." Michael's eyes were practically glowing as a smile formed on his face.

"Dude?"

"Sorry, I've just...never been in one of these physically."

"Yeah I can tell." Jeremy giggled and Michael turned red. Why was he so cute!? "How about we try Pac-Man, that's easy enough."

"Okay!" With that, Jeremy ended up not having any money. Michael practically spent all of it on the Pac-Man machine, so they had to go home empty handed.

***(Long time skip for bonding)***

Michael and Jeremy had just gotten out of the arcade for the millionth time that month, talking and cutting up as they played the games aggressively.

On the way home, Michael felt his wings trying to reappear.

"Michael what's wrong?"

"My...I think...okay Jeremy, you need to get home. Now."

"What about you?"

"Trust me okay, I've been doing what's right for you for years now. Just get home, and if you hear voices that aren't mine or yours dad's, do not listen to them okay?" Jeremy nodded, about to head off before Michael stopped him. "Take my hoodie. Since it's mine, it should protect you."

"Okay." With that, Jeremy ran off. Michael turned around and followed whatever he'd sensed into an alley way.

"I know you're here for Jeremy Eric. Show yourself and we can settle this peacefully. " Michael heard something and turned to see Eric manifest out of the shadows, black wings engulfing them in blackness, luckily Michael had a glow to himself so he could see.

"Hello Michael. Or should I say, thief."

"You know I didn't steal him-"

"No. No you did. Jeremy was supposed to be mine, but you all agreed that I wasn't good enough!"

"You were going to hurt him!!" Michael yelled and he felt his wings finally pop out again.

"Like you did any better. You showed yourself to him. You broke the biggest rule in the book...all because of some silly crush. What would the others think?" Michael felt his wings getting heavy and froze when he seen the feathers turning black when Eric touched them.

"I-I just didn't want him to be lonely. He had nobody. He had no friends and he hardly spoke to his dad, I couldn't just leave him like that."

"Ah yes, sympathy, something all you angels have in common. Something us fallen angels lack. Tell me, Michael, what if you told Jeremy you loved him and he rejected you...what would you feel?"

"I...I wouldn't be able to describe that..."

"Exactly...so it's better to feel nothing at all than feel pain." Eric snapped, and Michael screamed in pain as he felt his body being taken over by the darkness surrounding him. "Now, how's about we have some fun with Jeremy?" Michael's tears had stopped at this point and he looked up, eyes pitch black as he stood. "Winston can't stop me now..."
