The SQUIP
TW: swearing and Chloe making gay jokes bc she thinks Chris is lesbian
Christine headed into the bathroom and turned on the sink. She heard the door slam and knew the chuckle coming from it to be Chloe’s.
“I thought I told you not to wash that off?”
“W-Where is my script?” Christine acted as if she’s lost one of her many play scripts. "Just ignore her and she’ll leave."
“I’m talking to you short-ass!!” Chloe yelled and Christine turned around to face her.
“Why do you call me that? I know I’m short but I’m not THAT short.”
“Maybe if you stood up a little straighter than you could be taller...oh wait, you can’t stand up straight because your little girlf riend.” Chloe laughed and Christine turned red out of anger.
“She isn’t my girlfriend!!”
“I’m just saying, there is no way you’re straight Christine. You cuddle on what’s-her-name all the time.”
“Her name is Jenna.”
“Whatev-” Chloe was cut off by her eyes glowing a bright purple color , as well as the bathroom lights flickering as if it was a haunted bathroom, and Christine walked towards the bathroom door.
“I just remember t-that I don’t have to pee, so if you’ll ju-”
“Don’t….Don’t move.” Chloe turned around violently, the purple still in her eyes and on her hands. “You don’t remember me from freshman year...do you?” Her voice was a lot gentler now and Christine looked back at the door.
“I...umm...I didn’t think you went here freshman yea-”
“YETH I DID….You jutht...didn’t notithe…” She felt something up her spinal cord and straightened up. “Nobody did.” Christine cocked her head. “See, when I was a freshman, I was exactly like you.” She poked Christine’s nose, causing the smaller female to cover it up. “I was a suicidal, depressed, clumsy ass freshman. Yeah boys thought I was disgusting and thought I was a slut...I was pretty lonely...that was until I got a Squip.”
“A...A q-quick?” Christine asked and Chloe shook her head.
“A Squip.”
“I’ve...never heard of that before…”
“Well no shit Sherlock, or whatever shows you watch nowadays, it’s top secret. You can’t even look this shit up online, it’s so secret.” Chloe was standing directly in front of Christine, smiling wide. “It’s made in Japan. It’s in the form of a pill, gray colored, kinda oblong...looks like a tic-tac not gonna lie, it’s a quantum computer, and you take it, let the computer part travel from your mouth, into your bloodstream, and eventually into your brain. Once that’s happened, it’ll speak to you, and tell you how to be cooler.”
“N-No way that works.”
“SHUT IT SHORT ASS….Sorry, old habits die hard. And sorry for treating you like literal human shit all the time it’s just...my Squip told me to but now it’s saying….you aren’t so bad after all. And maybe...you’d want one yourself.”
“Umm….so….is it like...drugs? Because I don’t do dru-”
“It’s better than drugs Chrissy.” Chloe had her hands on Christine’s shoulders, her grin was wide and rather creepy, and her eyes were wide, the purple glow brighter than it had been mere seconds ago. “Like I said, it’s a computer. Well it’s actually a hightech quantum computer but it’s amazing. It’ll make people LOVE you.” She pulled Christine over to the mirror, standing behind her calmly. “Look at yourself as you are now. Nobody likes you, nobody wants to be friends with you, you don’t get to do anything super cool or fun and you’re always stressed.” Chloe chuckled a bit, walking in front of Christine and staring down at her. “But with this, people will envy you, girls will want to be you, guys will want to date you, you won’t be a loser at all. And it’s so worth it, I mean, look at me.”
“W-Where can I get one...exactly?”
“Bring me 600 tomorrow.”
“D-Dollars!?”
“Yeah. That’s how much the guy at the back of the Payless Shoe Store sells ‘em for, so unless you wanna remain a loser, meet me tomorrow, in here, and I’ll give you one.” Chloe went to leave and Christine sighed as she did. “But seriously, think about it, they work wonders.”
Christine exited the bathroom, and soon the school, and waited for Jenna to pull up. She seen her car and smiled, watching it drive over.
“Hey Chris! You ready to go hang at your place?”
“You bet.” She would mention the Squip when they got there...just no to unease Jenna, since she seemed to be in a good mood, mainly because she was blasting musical soundtracks in the car, and Christine didn’t wanna ruin that smile.
