By the time Dock and I made it back, Mami and Tati were getting ready. Mami was doing some finishing touches on the costumes and Tati was doing some stretches. Mami stopped working for a moment and glanced at us. " hey little birds. " she teased."was there sky traffic. You two were very late" she then frowned at me. " I hope you weren't doing anything dangerous." I grinned. " it's Dick's fault. he stopped to see the elephants." Dick lightly punched me. " if I remember correctly CATIANA, we also stopped to see the lions" I shrugged. " well RICHARD, lions are cool. Unlike elephants." Before this could erupt into a fight mami interrupted us. " im finished with your costumes! Finally!!!" My brother and I froze. We didn't like new costumes. Nevertheless mami dished out costumes to us. I laughed when I saw Dick's. It was so.... Colourful!! I stopped laughing when I got my costume. It was a long sleeved  light blue leotard and had a black skirt. I frowned.  I didn't like skirts that much. And I preferred the colour turquoise. I noticed mami was watching me for a reaction and I forced a smile on my face. " I love it." I lied between my teeth. My little white lie made my mother break into a broad smile.  She pulled me closer and gave me a big hug. Dick and tati joined our group hug. " don't worry" mami told all of us. " I know Gotham is not the best place to be. All the criminals, bad people around , and the dirty streets. We will be out of here soon, and on our way to Metropolis." After hearing that, Dick started to jump around excitedly. " Metropolis!" He practically screeched with joy. " that means Superman! And after that?" Mami smiled. " well my little robin, then it's Central City. And do you know who is the superhero there?" Dick was literally going to explode with happiness. "The Flash!!!"  He flipped off the bed we were all on and started doing his happy dance. Tati laughed and ruffled Dick's  hair. " time to go you birds." He said. "Pop always wants us to be there early to sign autographs and take pictures. After all, we ARE his star act. When Tati said that, I got a cold uneasy feeling in my stomach. Didn't Zucco say that the star act would die.?I looked at Dick. He looked fearful too. We were thinking about the exact same thing. I shrugged the feeling off. It was probably nothing. Just some creep. " let's go people!!!!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. Little did I know that was a night I would NEVER forget

" oh my gosh this kid  is soo cute" Dick said before strangling the poor toddler into another huge hug. I rolled my eyes. " Dick don't kill the kid". I had to admit that the little guy was pretty cute. " what's your name?" The toddler looked at me and said in a baby voice " I'm Timmy Dwake and I'm thwee and 3 quarters. My pawents are over there." He pointed to a fancy couple in a suit and a dress. Their outfits probably cost more then our trailer. " you are way too cute for your own good." I said honestly before giving the 3 year old a cuddle. " hey do you wanna take a picture with us?" Dick asked. " Sure!"  Timmy said.

After taking a picture with Timmy and his parents, we went backstage to our parents. We found them joking with the clowns. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone working at the trapeze rope. This wouldn't be so serious if I actually knew the worker.  It was commonplace for them to be adjusting the height before a performance, but I had no idea who it was. I tugged on Dick's outfit and pointed at the worker. Dick's jaw dropped. All of a sudden the man turned towards us and I recognized him immediately. Zucco. Zucco didn't see us and just walked out of there. I looked at Dick and said " we have to tell pop." He nodded and we ran off to find him.

We found pop brushing his hair. We told him about Zucco. And he told us to go back to our parents and that it was probably a new worker. We believed him. To this day I wish that we hadn't.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, boys and girl of all ages. It is my honour to present to you, Haley's circus!" And with that the performance started. First came the clowns. Then the exotic animals. Dick squealed like he always did when he saw the elephants. Then came the magicians. Then the lion tamers. Finally it was time for our turn to preform.
"Presenting.... An amazing daring fantastic trapeze act you will never forget. They preform without the safety of a net. The Flying Graysons!" 
As I climbed up the ladder up to the trapeze, the butterflies in my stomach became alive. I remembered my emotions from the night before. Something bad was definitely going to happen. I tapped Mami on the back. She turned to look at me. "Mami, I feel really really nervous." I whispered. " something's gonna happen tonight. I just know it" Mami squeezed me right before assuring me everything would be alright.
" here," she said while taking off the necklace she always wore. "  this necklace was from the gypsy days. I was your age when I got it. It's time it has been given to you." The necklace was beautiful. It had a little bird on it. " fly, Bluebird, fly" mami whispered to me. Mami fastened it around my neck and gave Dick and  me a quick kiss before swinging onto the trapeze. The next thing I saw were my parents falling to their deaths and screaming our names. I heard the crunch of their bones hit the ground almost simultaneously. I heard Dick's screams. All I did was cry.
