Chapter Nineteen : Before I Go
(Yuki's pov)
I wanted to clap in this moment.
I never thought Meia could be so.... Strong.
I ran beside her and lifted up my sword, ready to attack but Meia gave me a look that told me not to.
"This is my fight, Yuki. " she said smiling.
Uncle yukio tossed me a gun and I handed it to Meia.
"Here. " I said and backed away.
Meia looked her mother in the eyes and lifted up the gun.
"I don't want to. " Meia said.
Her mom swung the scythe at her, missing by inches from her face.
"But it seems I'll have to. " Meia said sadly.
She shot one bullet and missed - greatly.
I facepalmed.
Maybe, I shouldn't have given her a gun.... I thought.
She shot again, this time a little closer, but still missing by a mile.
Meia's mother laughed.
"Your supposed best friend gives you a weapon you can't even use? " Meia's mom said laughing.
Then she jumped up in the air on top of Meia, and had a scythe to her neck, once again.
"You think you're strong enough, to defeat me, Meia? That's a joke if I ever heard one. " Meia's mom said.
Meia spit on her mother's weapon with disgust.
"One thing I've learned about me and you mother seer, is while I may be weak, I'm smarter than you!" Meia said and shot her gun straight at her mother's chest hitting her twice in the stomach.
Ha, she used her weakness as a tool and caught her off guard.
Way to go, Meia.
The mother seer stumbled backwards against the wall, and held her scythe across her, like a shield of protection.
"Traitor. " the mother seer spat, as she coughed up blood.
Meia stood up.
"I am. But only to you. To my friends, I'm more loyal than I've ever been. I'm stronger than you, not physically but mentally. I also have one thing you never gave me, and that was love. Did you ever truly love me, mother? "
Meia's mother grinned.
"Once. You were three years old. You looked up at me from your bed, one night. I loved you in that split second. That was the only time. " she said.
I could see the tears running down Meia's face.
Meia's mother smiled and walked slowly towards Meia.
She stopped at about a foot away from her.
"This is the second time. " Meia's mother said smiling.
Meia looked up at her and smiled brightly.
"Really? " she said.
"Really. " she said and hugged Meia.
Wait a second...
I saw Meia's mom start to lift her scythe behind Meia's back.
I ran towards the both of them.
"No! " I shouted.
I closed my eyes.
And when I opened them, I gasped.
Rose had her hands around Meia's mother's neck.
"Don't trick her. " Rose said darkly and let go.
Meia fell to the ground and I went over and helped her up.
Meia's mom started gasping for air as dark, greenish vines started to sprout from her neck covering her shoulders.
She looked at me.
"Before I go... " she said and ran towards me.
I jumped to the side avoiding her and she turned back around.
"It's all your fault! " she screamed at me.
"If anyone is at fault here, it's you! " I screamed back.
"You're the one who decided to write everyone's destiny in stone! I believe we all make our own destiny. " I said.
She lunged again but before she could even take two steps, paku and renzo pushed her back.
"Don't touch Yuki!" paku shouted.
Renzo looked at me and I nodded.
I stepped towards her and she looked at me with pleading eyes.
"Please, don't kill me. I promise I won't hurt anyone anymore. " she begged on her knees.
I saw the curse go further down her arms reaching her hands and her stomach pour out more blood.
"Even if I do spare you, you'll still die. " I said softly.
She fell completely to the ground.
I held her hand.
"Sing me a song. " she choked out pitifully.
I felt tears spilling from my eyes.
"Okay. " I said and cleared my throat.
Everyone gathered around me and I began.
"Ooooh~ Uninstall~
Ooooh~ Uninstall~
Ooooh~ Uninstall~
It came from somewhere beyond the farthest reaches of the world we know,
like a creature of shadow
It came to mock us, for we are so naive that we can't comprehend it
And truly, we are fragile and small
I cannot hold onto the truth
As it slips right through my fingers like a picture that is made of smoke
I don't know how I will last, because my body is so weak that I may crumble away~
Uninstall, uninstall~
I was told that I am just a single speck of dust
And cannot be more
But I do not understand or grasp the true meaning
Uninstall, uninstall~
I no longer have a choice but to pretend
I am brave
For a soldier has to be brave
Uninstall
Ooooh~ Uninstall~
Ooooh~ Uninstall~
Our unseen thoughts have been growing ever sharper,
unbeknownst to us, deep within the subconscious
But an incling of what has been occuring is revealed as
I hear the restless monsters when I sleep
Now my heart is empty and numb
Save for an unrelenting impulse to destroy all the things I can see
It is born from all of the pain,
for I have lost the will to choose the day I'll crumble away
Uninstall, uninstall~
If there's noone who can take this burden in my place
Then there's no choice
But to take my simple life and~
Uninstall, uninstall~
And it makes me want to end it all with my own hands
Is it wrong?
Surely it's alright to want to uninstall~~~~~
Uninstall, uninstall~
I was told that I am just a single speck of dust
And cannot be more
But I do not understand or grasp the true meaning
Uninstall, uninstall~
I no longer have a choice but to pretend
I am brave
For a soldier has to be brave
Uninstall, uninstall~
Ooooh~ Uninstall~
Ooooh~ Uninstall~

Goodbye.. " and I finished.
I wiped the tears off my cheeks and let go of her hand.
She had stopped breathing and the vines had completely covered her whole body.
"I never knew it would be this hard. " Rose said with her head down.
"I never thought I'd feel sympathy for anyone, much less her. I'm sorry. " she said.
I stood up and everyone looked at me.
"Let's bury her honorably. " I said and we all picked her up and took her outside.
----
The blue wolf came out of the shadows to the graveyard.
He came at least once a week to see her, Yuki.
What was really strange was, for the past two days, he had felt that she was still there more than ever.
He thought it was just his grief tricking him.
He left a rose at her tombstone and was about to leap off until he heard a noise behind him.
He turned around to see a group of people apparently at a funeral.
He spotted his two sons among the crowd and instantly felt sad.
He wished he could make up for all the misfortune he had caused them but he could not. He looked closely at the person beside his eldest son and could hardly believe his eyes.
"Yuki.... " he said quietly.
She looked up over at him and walked silently over to the trees he hid in.
"Are you there? " she said smiling.
"Yes. " he said and stepped out from the shadows.
She ran over and hugged him tightly.
"How are you here? " he asked.
"Miracle. " she said with a laugh.
"Yuki, I'm sorry. "
"Don't be. "
"You're too forgiving. "
"And you dwell too much on past issues. " she said.
"I'll be back tomorrow, okay? " he said, remembering what he had to do that day.
"Okay. " she said and waved goodbye as he disappeared.
