Chapter Nine : Roses Are Red, Violets Are Dead
"Dad, I have something important to tell you. " I said thinking back to Meia's revelation.
"What is i-" he said.
"Yuki! " I turned around to see paku, catching her breath.
I stood up quickly and ran over to her and helped her up a little.
"Are you okay! " I said concerned.
She straightened up a little and shook her head yes.
She looked up at me.
"How? " she said.
I quickly explained everything to her.
"That's amazing. " she said.
"You believe me! " I said.
"Of course. Why would you lie? "
Got a point there.
"Come on and sit down. You look way more dead than me. " I said and helped her over to a desk.
"Yuki, are we friends? " she said quietly after she caught her breath.
"I guess. "
"I think we are. But I don't know. My only other friend for as long as I can remember has been Izumo. I was starting to believe I would never have another friend... "
"You know what? "
"What? " she said.
"I think we are friends. Best friends if you're willing. " I said.
Then she jumped up and hugged me.
I have gotten more hugs today probably than in my entire life.
She let go and just smiled.
"I gotta go. I'm doing some charity work today. "
"What for? " I said curious.
"This organization called, "Servants Of The Unfortunate". I know it's a werid name... "
"Servants? " I said.
"Yep. Guess I'm one now. " she said and walked off.
"Bye Yuki! " she said as she walked away.
Servant? This could be coincidence but I don't believe in those.
I believe everything happens for a reason.
Maybe Meia's prophecy was true?
That the story is real!
I turned back around to face dad, ready to tell him the story when I realized he wasn't there.
Oh goodness, he must've walked out when I started talking to paku.
I've gotta find him and tell him.
I ran out of the room and down the hallway.
I probably had gotten halfway down the hallway when I realized I didn't have a key.
Meia, can't you just pop up now and help me out!
I grunted and turned back around, ready to ask somebody back in the room for a spare key when I crashed into someone.
Whoever it was's papers and books flew up into the air and fell on both of our heads.
"I'm so sorry! " I said and began helping pick the papers and fallen books off the ground.
"It's okay! " the whoever said.
I looked up to see it was some girl.
I handed her her papers and books and stood up.
"Thank you! " she said.
"It's alright. It was my fault anyway. " I said.
I reached my hand out for her to shake. She just looked at me like I had said I was about to kill her.
"What? " I said.
She put her books down and showed her hands.
She had, what looked like, really thick brown leather gloves on.
"I can't shake hands or touch people for that matter. " she said neverously.
"Why? "
"A demon bit me when I was three. It infected my hands. An excorist was able to stop the infection from going any further but the damage had been done. If I touch anyone, they'll die. "
"Oh my gosh. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring anything up, I swear-"
"It's okay. You learn to live with it. It's like a disability. I keep the gloves on all the time but I'm still afraid to touch people with my hands. I couldn't stand to hurt anyone. " she said.
She picked up her books and began to walk away until I shouted, "Wait! "
She stopped and I caught up to her.
"Do you have a spare key? I'm stuck here without one. " I said.
"I was just about to leave so we can share my key. " she said.
"Thanks. "
We walked up to a random door and she unlocked it. We stepped through and were back at school.
"Never fails to amaze me. " I said.
We had walked right into the school gardens out of the tool shed.
"I like your key. It took me to my favorite place. " I said.
"You like gardens? " she said walking up to the wilting rose bushes.
"More like love. " I said picking up a frost covered dandelion.
"My name's rose." she said.
"Not a Japanese name? " I said inquiringly.
"Do I look Japanese? " she said.
I gave her a second look and relized she was probably American.
I facepalmed.
"Oops. "
"It's okay. See the reason I was sent her is because this is where my brother went. He was an excorist... " she said trailing off.
"Was? " I asked.
"He betrayed my family. " she said sharply and crunched up the rose she had been holding.
I saw the small drops of blood run down her glove and fall to the ground . I also saw whenever the blood drops hit the grass shiverled up and died.
"Crap, I ruined my glove. " she said.
She pulled out a spare glove from her purse and slipped it on taking the old one off slowly and throwing it in a nearby trash bin.
I noticed her hand as she quickly put on the glove.
It was dark green and gray colored and the veins were all crunched up together.
It looked cursed.
"Sorry. " she said and then walked away.
Who was this girl?
