Chapter 6
The three 'Bots didn't flinch as the others aimed their blasters at them. One of the new 'Bots was a silver color, with armor that looked like he had a sleek alternative mode. The second new 'Bot was a blue one with silver accents. His helm looked like the helms worn by the ancient samurai of Earth while two samurai swords were strapped to his back. Finally, the third 'Bot was a red one that kinda had some bulk to him, most likely armor as well as a bunch of weapons. They all had the same silver symbol somewhere on them, the same symbol as Optimus and his team. Though no 'Bot could see that since there was practically no light. "Intruders!" the blue 'Bot exclaimed. "State your designation or we will fire," the silver 'Bot said. "Why should we tell these guys?" Bulkhead asked. The groups stared each other down, obviously, a fight was about to break out. Zoey couldn't sit and watch, doing nothing to help stop the fight. So she ran out from her hiding spot and stood in between the two teams, the small orb on her chest of the dress she wore glowing. "Don't you dare start fighting!" she shouted.
Instantly every optic turned to her. "Zoey?" Arcee asked in disbelief. "What is she doing here?" Ratchet asked. "She pulled a Miko!" Bee exclaimed. "Oh scrap...." Bulkhead muttered. Optimus said nothing, though his gaze was unwavering and Zoey could feel the heat of it on her back. He was very angry she had disobeyed his orders, though he wasn't going to show it. She turned to the three new 'Bots and instantly they lowered their blasters. "Why is it so tiny?" the silver one asked. Zoey sighed and held her outstretched hand up and almost instantly a small orb of white light appeared. The three 'Bots aimed their blasters back at her, making her sigh. Zoey then threw the orb down to the ground, but nothing happened. Barely a moment later a whirring noise started, and the lights turned on. "Whoa! How did that happen?!" Bulkhead asked. "One of my abilities. I can form a small orb which can then be used for various purposes. You can tell the purpose by the color of the orb. A white orb repairs the machine it is thrown at, which repaired the ship's power. I can't really do much more repairing than that since I'm kinda new to my abilities," Zoey explained.
She turned back to the new 'Bots. "Alright, time for introductions. My name is Zoey, these are the members of Team Prime. Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Bulkhead, Arcee, and Bumblebee. We're Autobots. What're your names?" Zoey asked. The three 'Bots were surprised by her friendliness and forwardness. "W-Well, my name's Jazz. This is Drift-" the silver mech, Jazz, motioned to the blue mech, Drift. "-And this is Ironhide, we're all Autobots," he finished, motioning to the red mech. Instantly Zoey's eyes widened. Ironhide? As in the Ironhide? As in mech that was supposedly dead and supposed to be Zoey's sire? All the 'Bots noticed her shock. "Is there something wrong?" Ironhide asked. Zoey couldn't stop staring at him, her skin paling. "Zoey? Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost," Bumblebee said. Zoey quickly shook her head. "I-I just remembered something from my time as a prisoner on the Nemesis," she replied. The new 'Bots immediately looked quite shocked. "You were on the Nemesis? But why would Megatron want an organic?" Jazz asked. "Well, first off, I'm friends with Team Prime. At least that was the only reason before something happened on the ship," Zoey replied, looking at the ground.
Silence spread between the group for the next few moments. "What happened?" Drift asked. "T-that's hard to explain without a story. And I don't think now is the time to explain what happened," Zoey replied. The new 'Bots nodded. "Soooo, now what?" Bulkhead asked. "Well, they can't currently repair their ship. And they are fellow Autobots. They'll come back to base with us," Optimus replied. "Sweet! I'll tell Raf to open a Groundbridge," Zoey said, quickly transforming. She could feel the three new 'Bots stare at her with shock as she put a digit to her audio receptor. "Hey Raf, could you open a Groundbridge? And prepare to meet some new recruits to the team," Zoey said. "Alright, Groundbridge should open in just a moment," Raf replied. Only a moment later the familiar vortex of green, blue, and purple opened. "Thanks," Zoey said. She took her digit from her audio receptor and walked to the side of the portal. She gestured her hands to the portal, a sign to tell the 'Bots to go through. Optimus led the way, the other 'Bots following. Zoey walked through the portal next to Ironhide. They stepped into the base on the other side of the portal before it closed behind them. Instantly she felt a gaze on her and she turned to meet Optimus's gaze. Uh oh. Prepare for the long, boring lecture on how she should've stayed in base.
"Zoey, I told you to stay here. We didn't know anything about what we were going into, and we also have no clue about your abilities. What if it had been Decepticons? You could've been injured or captured. And that's the last thing we all need right now," Optimus said. "I know, but how else am I going to find out what I'm capable of? Sitting around at base? And besides, what if it had been Decepticons, and you guys needed help?" Zoey shot back. Instantly everyone flinched. No one talked back to the Autobot leader like that. "Look, I'm sorry for snapping. But I'm not sorry for sneaking along. I'm part of this team whether anyone likes it or not. After all, you were the one who allowed me to join. If you didn't want me to join, you shouldn't have allowed me. Now, speaking of that, because I joined this team, I've been through so much. Being kidnapped, then tortured, then experimented on by Decepticons. None of that would've happened if I hadn't gotten mixed up in all this! Basically, my life is now a mess because of that single decision that was made! What did you even think I had in me to be worthy of joining the team? Sure, I can write, and I can and will stand up to bullies, like what happened all that time ago when I stopped Vince! But what else is there? I was just a normal girl, now I'm some sort of Cybertronian-human because of a choice my parents made! Did they even want me? Or did they think I was just some curse on them? I never would've questioned any of that if you didn't allow me to join!" Zoey ranted.
By the end, everyone was staring at her in shock. Instantly she needed to be left alone. "I'm leaving. For good. I'm going to forget any of this happened, and go back to believing I'm just a normal girl. I just want my normal life back, but that'll never happen," she said, her voice growing bitter at the end. Silence filled the room for the next few moments. "Zoey.... If you leave, the Decepticons could find you.... And the 'Bots won't be there to help..." Miko tried reasoning. Zoey raised her servo. "I don't want to hear it. I'm going back to my normal life. Well, as normal as it can be, and no one can stop me," Zoey interrupted, her voice growing accusing at the end. With that, she transformed back into her human form and started walking away from the main room, through the tunnel to the outside of the base. Jack immediately looked up at Arcee, who nodded. She transformed and Jack hopped on, putting on his helmet before they drove after Zoey. "Well, you'll never get home if you walk," Jack said, holding out his hand to her. Zoey looked away before hesitantly hopping on the motorcycle. After putting her hands on Jack's shoulders, Arcee drove off.
The ride was spent in silence. Jack didn't know what to say. He wanted as much as everyone else for Zoey to stay, but what could he say to convince her to? By that time they had pulled into the driveway of Zoey's house. She quickly hopped off the motorcycle and turned away to walk into the house but stopped, turning back around. "Thanks for the ride. My parents probably would've killed me if I came home super late," she said. "No problem," Jack replied. Zoey smiled at Jack before turning back around, taking a few steps forward, when Jack stopped her. "Y'know, I left the team at the start as well. I came back less than a week later," Jack said. Zoey looked over her shoulder at Jack. "If this is your way of trying to get me to come back, it's a pretty weak argument," Zoey said. "I'm just saying. I left the team, but I went back. Just because you leave doesn't mean it's the end. Even if you don't come back, you'll always be mixed in with the 'Bots whether you like it or not. You never know what'll happen, and it may not always be what you expect or want," Jack replied. Zoey looked at the ground. "Goodbye, Zoey," he said. Arcee backed out of the driveway and started to drive away.
Zoey heard the motorcycle engine start and grow softer. She quickly turned around, about to call out to Jack, but he was already gone. Zoey sighed before turning around, walking up to the front door. She grabbed the handle and opened the door, greeted by warmth and light. She looked over her shoulder one last time before entering the house, turning her back on the life she just left.
