Chapter Nine
"Her father," these words lingered in your mind. The scene continued to play over and over in your head. The confused faces surrounding your every move. The disgusting smile the commander shown in your direction. But every one of those things became blurry as your vision began to disappear. Your life feeling as though it was escaping your body, with every breath unable to leave your lips. Not being able to withstand the grip for very long, you lost consciousness, which was the biggest mistake you could have ever made within the moment.
You felt yourself lying against something cold, but solid. Your eyes fluttered open to reveal even more blackness than when your eyes were closed. "Oh no," you thought to yourself as you looked around. It was a safe assumption that you were back to torturous prison that was worked by the galra empire. Suddenly, a light flickered on and you knew exactly where you were.
"You're awake," a familiar voice spoke. You went to rub your eyes, only to realize the your hands we chained to the floor. You looked forward, seeing the excess ballgown sprawling outwards.
"Hello princess," you spoke shamefully. You didn't feel like you had the right to look her in the eye anymore.
"Were you ever going to tell us? Or were you just planning to stay here and letting the secret never see light?" She bellowed.
"I wasn't expecting him to come," you said stone-faced.
"That's not what I asked," she snarled.
"I don't know, I thought I would be gone before you ever found out," you huffed. No words were said, just exchanged glares.
"I offered Sendak take you right away, the others persuaded the galra and myself otherwise, but I refuse to have a filthy hooligan like you roaming my castle. You can enjoy your time in the deepest part of the palace, the dungeon, until we decide what to do with you," she spoke. She refused to let you retaliate, so she walked out of the room, turning her light off to signal her exit. You sat in shock.
"What am I supposed to do now?" You asked yourself.
"You can talk to me, and explain what's going on," the kind-hearted man explained as he turned on the light.
"Lance," you sighed. He almost died, and surrendered himself to the galra, all because of you. He walked over to you, sitting Indian Style in front of your body.
"All I want is an explanation, I won't judge, I just want to talk," he comforted. He was back in his normal clothes, but you noticed a red ring around his neck. He realised you were staring at it, so he zipped up his sweater.
"What is there to explain," you queried.
"Let's start with, why did you lie?" He spoke with nothing but curiosity. He didn't come off mad or disappointed, but rather, slightly confused. You knew the answer, you just felt it was a bad excuse, so you simply shrugged. "I don't want to sound like your mom or anything, but a shrug isn't a good enough answer," he nervously chuckled.
"I thought I would have left this place before any of you ever found out," you sniffled.
"I thought you liked it here?" He asked as he placed a hand on your knee. You slightly jumped at the touch.
"I do, but I'm not a paladin, I don't belong here," you shook you head slightly. "I destined for other things."
"Like what?" He titled his head like a confused puppy.
"Not too sure yet to be honest," you scoffed. He scooted closer to you.
"I'm pretty sure I already know what you're destined for," he smiled as he rubbed his thumb pad on your palm. "You're here to help us defeat evil people, like Sendak and Zarkon, the people who caused you pain and sorrow. You are here to defeat them, and make sure they are put away with for good."
"We've seen what happens when we try to "put them away," it doesn't work out too well," you shrugged. He quickly got up.
"Give me two seconds," he smiled. He walked across the room and flipped a few switches. Within seconds, you were finally able to reach your hands to your face. "Does that feel better," he smiled as he came back in your direction, you stood up and nodded.
"Thank you," you smirked as you rubbed the red marks on your wrists.
"It's no problem at all," he reflected your smirk. Except his gave you a warm feeling, it gave you a sense of security and safety. You stepped closer to him, having to look up at him since he towered over you.
"Maybe I'm the real problem here," you suggested as he continued to take steps toward you.
"That would never be the case," he whispered as he wrapped his hands around your waist. He leaned over slightly, pulling you even closer.
"Well, I think I may know one problem," you huffed.
"And what might that be," he asked.
"This," and with no further hesitation, you went for it. You locked your lips with his, it was almost like you were a puzzle and he was the missing piece. He pulled back and smiled.
"If this is a problem, then I'm okay being a troublemaker," he laughed, continuing to interlock your lips with his. Was this the right thing to do? He had just found out your secret, and was surprisingly okay with it, but what about everyone else. There was no way they would been okay with it, one of their paladins, falling for the unwanted galra.
All you knew was, if this was how it felt to be a troublemaker, then being notorious wouldn't be such a bad thing.
