❝ BIRTHDAY GIRL ❞
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿ ⋆ ˖୨♡୧˖⋆ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
MEANWHILE, AT THE SALVATORE boarding house, Elena Gilbert walked over to the entrance and opened the door to find Klaus standing outside.
"Thank you for coming." Elena breathed slightly, refusing to show any signs of fear by keeping her back straight.
Klaus ignored the doppelgänger and barged into the house. "I trust you have news of Stefan?"
"I couldn't find him." Elena lied smoothly as she turned to the hybrid. "But I have something else."
In the cellar, Elena opened the door to Rebekah's cell. Inside laid Rebekah on the ground, daggered.
"My poor sister. I can't turn my back on her and Lyanna for a moment." Klaus muttered. "I leave them and when I come back, Rebekah was daggered, and Lyanna refuses to give me answers."
Elena crossed her arms preventing herself from flinching at his tone. "You have Rebekah. A deal is a deal."
Klaus looked at Elena and pondered for a minute. "The life of my sister in exchange for your brother? Yeah, I'd say that's a bargain. Consider him spared."
"You should know I was the one that daggered her. When she wakes, she'll come after me." Elena told him, thinking about the consequences she'll face when Rebekah comes after her. Or possibly face the wraith of a certain Heretic.
"I can control Rebekah. Besides, I still need your help finding Stefan."
"I told you, I don't know where he is." Elena lied again.
"You're lying." Klaus spoke annoyed as he undaggered Rebekah. "Fortunately, you have no shortage of loved ones. If I don't find my family, the question you should be asking yourself is who's gonna die next!"
"Bonnie? Caroline? Damon?" Klaus smirked when he saw a flicker of emotion in Elena's eyes. "It's only a matter of time before Stefan gives me what I want."
Elena stepped forward and finally had the courage to yell at the hybrid. "You seriously want Lyanna to hate you more for going after Bonnie? Not surprised." the doppelgänger glared at him hatefully.
"He doesn't care about me anymore. You made sure of that. You turned him into a monster. Now he's your problem." Elena's face morphed into a smug expression. "And just so you know, I'm not the only one that Rebekah wants dead. She knows what you did to your mother. She knows that you killed her. You can't let yourself out." Elena was about to leave when Klaus held her back. His eyes show panic and worry.
"Does Lyanna know?"
The brunette sighed softly and sent him a small glare. "Yes."
"And she's quite angry."

When they arrived at school, Elena was decorating Caroline's locker for her birthday. She came clean about how Jeremy was moving away and leaving Mystic Falls. Of course Bonnie was completely upset about it.
Jeremy and Bonnie still hadn't patched things up yet after the reason why they broke up was because of Ana.
"You okay?" Lyanna asked quietly as they walked to the car. Elena and Matt followed behind talking to one another.
"I'm fine...It's just I hate how she compelled him, Anna. He doesn't deserve that."
"I hate it too, but maybe this is good for him in a way." Lyanna tried cheering her up.
"Come on, we have a birthday to celebrate." she grabbed her hand and led her to the car. Bonnie smiled at her and chuckled, getting Jeremy out of her head. Today was Caroline's birthday, not a day to wallow about her friend leaving town.

Luckily they arrived at the Forbes house just in time and quickly got ready. Matt got out the alcohol, Lyanna brought cookies, Bonnie and Elena were holding the card and balloons cards. The cake was in the kitchen which Lyanna grabbed.
"She's here," Lyanna whispered quietly hearing the car pull up. Quickly they dashed around the corner. Bonnie sheepishly held up a plastic crown with purple fuzz and set it on top of Lyanna' head.
Several seconds later Caroline walked into the house cueing the friends to jump out with balloons, party hats, and the sign yelling surprise.
Matt grinned widely. "Happy Birthday!"
Caroline was stunned for a moment before opening her mouth. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Well, you blew off school and missed our work of birthday art, so..." Elena trailed off.
"So we decided to take my car and head over to your place." Lyanna grinned embracing the blonde and pulled away.
Lyanna reached up and took off the tiara and placed it on Caroline's head with a giant grin. Nevertheless, she could tell the Forbes wasn't happy.
"Change into warmer clothes, we are going to the Falls," Bonnie informed, wearing a bright smile. "Smores, campfire."
"Cake." Elena exclaimed brightly. "Like when we were little." the Gilbert gestured to the cake Lyanna was holding.
Matt held up a bottle of tequila wearing a lopsided grin. "Except for the tequila!"
Lyanna smirked at the Donovan. "Now we're talking!"
The blonde sighed and smiled halfheartedly. "Thanks, guys. Really, um. I'm just not feeling my birthday this year."
"I'm sorry what?" Bonnie asked, confused. "You've already claimed your birthday as everyone's favorite day of the year."
"It's just a reminder that technically I'm dead," Caroline stated bluntly earning a frown from the trio. Lyanna wore a look of understanding. "Look, I didn't even like seventeen. And the only point of being seventeen is to get to eighteen. It's a filler year; I'm stuck in a filler year."
The Heretic sighed and shook her head in disagreement. "Oh Care, I know exactly how you feel. When I became a vampire and had my birthday I thought I was frozen. But you need to realize that now you have nothing holding you back."
"Second thought I think I have another idea." Elena inserted wearing a small smile.

The five of them marched over the Crypt through the night. Matt held a flashlight and shined it ahead for them to see. Lyanna could see just fine because of her enhanced eyesight.
"There it is!"
Bonnie pushed the doors open and looked inside the dark crypt. Lyanna followed close behind holding a bright lantern.
"Okay, this is creepy. Even for us." Bonnie commented looking around the aged windows and cobwebs.
"Bon Bon it's a crypt. What do you expect from a crypt?" Lyanna moved towards the altar and placed the cake box down as she continued speaking. "Caroline is right-technically, she's dead." the brunette turned her body halfway around. "Sorry blonde, but you don't need a birthday. You need a funeral." Lyanna faced the group wearing a genuine smile. "You need to hasta la vista to your old life and move forward with a clean slate."
Caroline returned the smile. "Okay." She took off her tiara and placed it aside. "Here lies Caroline Forbes - "
"Gorgeous, an amazing person..."Boss ass bitch who kicked Damon's ass." Lyanna started as she placed the candles on the cake. The others either snort or chuckle at her comment.
Bonnie moved closer to the Forbes and Salvatore. "Friend, daughter, overachiever..."
"...Mean girl sometimes. No offense." Matt chuckled, meeting her eyes.
Caroline waved her hand dismissively and smiled. "Ah, none taken."
"She was seventeen, and she had such a great life. So rest in peace, so that she can move forward." Lyanna walked closer holding the cake in front of her.
"That's what you need." Elena agreed, sending all of us a look. "What we all really need. Amen, or cheers, or whatever." e
"Babe, my hands are full. Do the spell." Lyanna peered over to her girlfriend.
Bonnie smiled before closing her eyes, and a second later the candles lit up.
"Yay!" Lyanna smiled brightly meeting Caroline's crystal blue eyes. "Okay. Now make a wish to start off your new life."
Lyanna held the cake slightly higher. She stares at it for a couple of seconds before closing her eyes and making her wish.

Matt, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, and Lyanna all sat around eating pieces of cake and sharing bottles of alcohol.
The bisexual couple laid against each other sharing a bottle of rum on the ground. Lyanna sat on her lap and took a swig of the drink, gulping down the deliciousness, then raised it to Bonnie's lips. Instead, the Bennett pressed her lips against Lyanna', sharing a heated kiss.
"Okay you two, we don't want to see you guys making out." Matt rolled his eyes and smirked.
"Caroline, what are you doing?" Elena furrowed her brows. Caroline stopped texting and looked over at them wide-eyed. "What? nothing?" she insisted on trying to act natural as possible.
"Okay, you're a bad sober liar. You're an even worse drunk liar." Elena accused folding her arms across her chest.
Caroline smiled sheepishly, "I might have texted Tyler."
"Caroline." Elena started, voice full of judgment.
Lyanna shifted slightly on Bonnie's lap. "It's Caroline's choice to contact Tyler. He is her boyfriend Elena. She has the right to talk to anyone."
"He's bad news. Caroline shouldn't be even talking to him!" Elena protested.
Bonnie snapped at her finally having enough. "Give her a break! You can't control what everyone does all the time."
There was an awkward tense silence filling the air.
Matt shook his head. "Ouch, Bon."
Bonnie shook her head slightly. "Sorry. I know it's Caroline's birthday, funeral or whatever, I just feel it's really wrong that you compelled Jeremy to leave town."
"I'm doing it to protect him, Bonnie. I want to give him a chance to have a quiet normal life." Elena defended her actions.
"Elena, he should be able to choose how he wants to live his own life. You're taking his choices away!" Lyanna protested.
"Bonnie, you can't tell him."
"Why are you gonna compel me not to?" Bonnie countered snappily.
Matt looked at the three of them warily. "You know, you guys are ruining a perfect funeral."
"I'm sorry. I'm just gonna go to sleep it off or something. Happy birthday." Bonnie kissed her girlfriend goodbye.
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"No, I don't want to be the reason you miss out on Care's birthday," Bonnie replied. "Call me later?"
"Of course." Lyanna sighed and pecked her lips. Bonnie left the crypt briskly leaving the group to endure another awkward silence.

The four of them all told stories of embarrassing moments of their past; epic pranks, pranks gone wrong, pAnnas. Lyanna was telling a story about how lit the ends of Rebekah's hair on fire, earning some snorts and baffled looks from the humans.
Tyler entered the crypt cutting all the laughter and fun like a knife.
"Hey, Tyler!" Lyanna waved too cheerfully after her fourth bottle of rum. Despite her short height, she was a pretty good drinker.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to crash the party." the hybrid said awkwardly glancing at the group.
Matt voiced out coldly, "So don't." he commented.
"No, it's - It's okay." Caroline's eyes darted to Tyler. "Hi."
"Can I talk to you for a sec?" it's kind of important." Tyler gestured outside.
Caroline nodded and quickly passed the empty bottle of rum to Lyanna and left the crypt following after Tyler. Elena glared at the door as Matt looked gloomy.
Lyanna drank the leftover contents. Elena and Matt looked at her crazily. "How are you not drunk?"
"I'm a Mikaelson and Salvatore - the whole last name thing is confusing for me now." Lyanna sighed.
"Blood or not your a Salvatore. To be honest, you shouldn't shut out your past." Matt said patting her on the shoulder. "It doesn't matter where you came from. I won't look at you differently."
"Yeah...you're right."
Suddenly Lyanna clutched her head painfully as a vision entered her head. Caroline.
"I-I have to go."
"Anna!"
Lyanna was already vamp speeding out the door already searching for her friend. Never had she used her run so fast in her life. She finally found Caroline slumped on the ground clutching onto her collar bone.
She could smell the werewolf venom. "Oh my gosh Care...Tyler bit you?"
Caroline blinked through the tears. "Yes, It - hurts." she moaned painfully.
The Heretic wasted no time crouching down. "Get on my back. You are not dying today. I'm getting Klaus to heal you."
The blonde sniffled and nodded slowly, straddling onto her back, her arms around her neck. "Hang on." Lyanna rushed through the woods only to stop when she found Matt.
"Caroline! Anna." Matt finally caught up to them. "Elena-Stefan has her."
"Call Damon," Lyanna closed her eyes, feeling a wave of energy through the air. "My car keys are in your pocket. I want you to head over to Caroline's house and tell Liz."
The blonde sniffled and nodded slowly, straddling onto her back, her arms around her neck. "Hang on." Lyanna rushed through the woods.

When they reached the house, Matt opened the door catching Liz' attention as she stepped out of the living room drinking in the sight of her sick daughter. "Ms. Forbes," she shouted.
"What happened?" she asked running over to her daughter being carried by her friend.
"Tyler bit her," Lyanna answered immediately panicking, moving forward.
"Oh my god, sweetheart." Liz gasped, fear morphing into her features.
Lyanna carried her to her bed, placing her down gently. Sweat already began dotting her features, paling her face. "Oh, honey. Caroline, honey, can you hear me?" Liz called out to Caroline.
"I'm sorry Mom." Caroline cried out, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Ms. Forbes, she's hallucinating," Lyanna informed briskly. "I need you to stay here and be with her. Matt, get some water and towels. And maybe some blood bags. I need to make a call."
The Heretic began exiting the room as she pulled out her phone. She held the device close to her ear. "Ahh, sister what a surprise."
"Niklaus Mikaelson how dare you. You had Tyler bite her? for your stupid plan to get the coffins back?
"Of course, whatever it takes to get our family back," Klaus smirked through the phone.
If you think I'm gonna let this pass...Then you're mistaken! get over here and heal my friend otherwise, I'll make sure you won't see those bloody coffins again! So you best help me." Lyanna shrieked through the phone.
"Very well, little flower."
∘*.✩ ゚
The door opened to reveal Klaus. "Lyanna called earlier. Tyler also paid a visit to me. She told me what happened."
"You made Tyler do this to her." Matt sneered. "He would have never done something like this. And Lyanna has been worrying and angry nonstop. God no wonder she despises you."
"I'm here to help, Matt. My blood will heal her," Klaus hinted with desperation. "Please, ask the Sheriff to invite me inside."
Lyanna finally made her appearance followed by Liz. Klaus' eyes widened even more. "I have known you for a thousand year. You want something in return." she snapped, folding her arms.
"No, nothing. I just want to save her because of you." the hybrid answered honestly.
Liz paused for a moment, sending Lyanna a look on whether to trust him or not. "Let him inside Liz."
"Come in."
The brunette pointed to the room. "She's in there."
Klaus entered the room silently and it remained until Caroline spoke weakly. "Are you gonna kill me?"
The hybrid's voice softened. "On your birthday? You really think that low of me?"
"Yes," Caroline responded coldly.
Lyanna arched a brow. She couldn't blame her at the slightest.
"That looks bad." Klaus said, talking about the bite. "My apologies. It's nothing personal. "You see, I did it for two reasons. One, your mother's support. Now that's changed because I'm doing this for you and my sister."
"My sister always hated her birthdays, but I made her come to the realization to celebrate that she's no longer bound by trivial human conventions. You're free."
"No, I'm dying." Caroline strained, shuffling in her spot. Lyanna quickly went over and dabbed the wet cloth on her forehead.
"And I could let you die if that's what you want," Klaus whispered. "If you really believe your existence has no meaning. I thought about it myself, once or twice over the centuries when I couldn't find my sister again, Truth be told. But I'll let you in on a little secret. there is a whole world out there, waiting for you. Great cities and art and music, genuine beauty. And you can have all of it. You can have a thousand more birthdays. All you have to do is ask."
Lyanna couldn't help but smile genuinely, remembering the same exact words he told her when she didn't want to live another day.
"I don't wanna die." Caroline croaked, tears spilling through her eyes.
The Heretic helped her friend sit up. Klaus began to bite his own flesh, revealing the cure. "there you go, sweetheart. Have at it."
Caroline sank her fangs into his flesh, biting him. "Happy Birthday Caroline."
A few moments later Caroline was already asleep. Leaving Lyanna and Klaus alone in the room.
The brunette paused for a moment and opened her mouth. "Thank you," she said sincerely. "I didn't think you would actually show up."
"Anything to gain your forgiveness." Klaus' eyes twinkled with honesty.
Lyanna shyly walked up to him and hugged him after debating with herself whether to do it or not. "I'm serious. Thank you."
It took a minute for the hybrid to process what was happening before he found himself hugging her back.
Perhaps they could forgive each other. Someday. Klaus knew that for sure. Lyanna was known to be stubborn just like Finn and Kol.
