And He Fell

Luke didn't usually go through his comments. He loved his fans, he really did, but all those comments, likes, and fan videos seemed to blur together and say the exact same things. Comments like "I love you!" and "Marry me!" had become his norm ever since he reached the heights of fame. Lately it had been feeling like no one really wanted the real him. Who is Luke? Is he the guy who performs on stage in front of millions of people or is he the quiet guy who likes to play his music while he concentrates on the several million things he has to stress about? It seemed like no one quite understood him. The other boys in the band were always so focused on the music. They always had a full grasp of who they were. Luke didn't think he was like them and the emptiness had started to create a dream of what he wanted. He was sick of the empty bed and the millions of virtual followers. He wanted someone to come home to, someone who could accept the quiet self that people no longer saw.

When his PR agent asked him to go online and contact some of his fans as he hadn't done so in a while, Luke was more than reluctant to do so. Absentmindedly scrolling through Instagram, it didn't catch his attention until he had already scrolled past. A video of a beautiful blonde with clear blue eyes performing a ballet solo on on one of his band's songs. The performance itself was outstanding, mixing traditional ballet with more modern dance moves to fit the song. She was absolutely amazing and he couldn't help himself but to do what almost everyone on social media had learned to do: stalk.

"Olivia," he said out loud, noting that it rolled off his tongue as if he was fated to say it. "

She looks like a supermodel.

 She probably is.

And how convenient it was. Her birthday had just been a month ago. How he wished he could meet her, just once. He just wanted to see if she could be the dream that he was hoping for.

A couple minutes later, Luke walked on his own stage with the brightest smile he had had in perhaps years. The plan was set. He had just made a few calls and it turned out perfect. Now all he had to do was hope that she would fall.

~~~
Olivia Taylor did not realize that this job would be so secretive. Since there was a large amount of money involved and a very professional woman on the phone, Olivia had assumed that it would be for someone rich but not to this extent. It had been a couple of days since she had received the call and as a dancer, it was normal to be offered performance opportunities and some teaching ones as well. She usually took the teaching ones first because they gave her even more of a thrill than performing. When the call came from S&P Music Company, co-owned between her best friend and her husband, she could not refuse the offer. Apparently, her best friend had forgotten to mention the fact that Olivia was to teach the new choreography to a star, a big one at that.
When she reached the studio, Olivia was immediately assigned to agree to a large list of confidentiality terms which she did after a careful read through. The studio in which they would meet was like a home to her but even though it usually comforted her, today she could not help but feel anxious. Who could she be teaching that was so important? With a sigh she took to preparing all she needed. Connecting her phone to her speakers, she began the new choreography that she was to teach her mysterious student, but, as he or she hadn't showed up, she began losing herself to the music and the movement of the dance.
As the last notes chimed, Olivia's breaths had grown heavy but she remained in her final position for a few seconds, taking in the final chords.
"If you go that fast, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to learn the choreography."
Too invested in her own world, she fell to the ground at the low voice that had called out to her.
Startled, she tried to get up but ended up taking a few steps back and almost falling over again. Her eyes widened as she took in the familiar face. The face that millions, maybe billions, of people around the world knew.
"Am I dreaming?" she whispered
"Nope," he said popping the p. "Time to get to work, love. Show me what you got."
Olivia blinked a couple times.
"U-Umm hi, uh my-my name is Olivia. Nice to meet you uh- Luke."
"Hello Olivia. Can we get started now?"
"Umm yeah of course! Let me just restart the music and then we can go through the first part."
She was reluctant to take her eyes off of him for even a second, but as soon as she tore her eyes away, she swore she saw a smile. A small one, but a smile at that. Her heart lifted, if that was even possible. But he was just here as student, and the tiny strand of hope seemed to wither away. Soon he would be gone and the choreography teacher would be forgotten.
Luke did not think the same way. She was even more amazing than he had hoped. The dancing, the teaching. She was amazing at it! And there was no haughtiness to her, no sense of showing off. In fact, she seemed almost nervous and reluctant to show him what she could do. He caught on to the dance moves well, perhaps it was her teaching skills. They learned the moves to each part of the song, performing for each other after each section to critique and gain a new perspective of style for the dance.
Finally finishing, the practice was over and Luke and Olivia were both awfully reluctant to go, each trying to drag the practice a little longer that it was supposed to be. But as the sun had settled and it was time to go home, Luke's smile never left his face, because there was another day. A few more in fact. There was more time to get to know his dancer girl and if she deemed him worthy, then perhaps a lifetime.
