Daylight Life
(Sonic's POV)
The sun was rising soon and my guardians are already asleep in their coffins like 5 minutes ago. They know I'll be seeing milady in the city. Even though, I did say I'll always visit Amy every sunset but things have changed since I'm adapting a little to daylight.
I head to the city wearing a black hoodie jacket this time to blend in like real people. I also need something to eat and drink too to stay awake.
I saw a person walking out from a place called Dunkin Donuts. Hmm...sounds like a good place to get some donuts and a coffee. Okay, Sonic. Don't scare anyone with your fangs. Hopefully I'll make a lie that I have a little ancestor DNA from a mobian wolf teeth.
Good thing Amy left some money in my hoodie pocket. She has great generosity for a nice lady. I went inside and saw no line. Perfect timing. And the cashier was a male adult human.
"Hello there, you must be the first customer today." He said.
"Yup, I'm from out of town and thought of having some coffee and a morning snack." I said and observed all types of donuts. The black one covered in a little white ice looks delicious.
"Can I have the black donut please to go?" I pointed at the one that's black, "And coffee with milk, please. And that will be all." I said, sounding a bit like a nice customer that I observed and studied in the city for years.
"Very well then. That would be $5 dollars." The cashier said and made my coffee and put the donut in a bag. I gave a funny looking president $5 bill to the cashier man.
"Thanks sir." I said and head outside and made my way to find Amy's apartment building. I hope she's doing well with Iris.
I walked on the sidewalk and went to find the apartment building which I did. I sat on the stairs to eat my donut and have a sip of my hot coffee.
Hopefully someday my guardians protect mortal life from bad vampires, especially my father's people from the village in the woods too. But if they ever need mortal blood, they know where to find one; rapists, murderers, anything related to psychopath. Well, anyone that's irredeemable.
"Man, this donut is so good." I said to myself as I finished it. I drank what's left of my coffee and headed to the apartment. There was a trash can so I tossed what I don't need, the coffee cup and the paper bag.
Well at least no threats today to harm my friends. I headed to the elevator and pushed the number I remember to go to the middle of the floor building. Though I gotta admit this elevator does make me feel a little queasy but I got used to it.
As the elevator stopped, the door slides open and I made my way to find Amy's number door in the halls. She knows I'll be there and when I found her door, I was surprised its open. I went inside and saw her teaching Iris how to walk.
"Come to mommy, Iris." Amy said to Iris as she took wobbly steps.
I smiled at Iris trying so hard to walk on her own. She doesn't seem to throw a tantrum or anything because she's trying to reach her mommy.
"Come on Iris, focus on me." Amy held her hands out.
Iris walked toward Amy and came into her hands, "Good girl!" Amy said.
"I see she's getting very close to walking on her own." I said which got their attention.
"Oh, hi there Sonikku." Amy walks up to me with Iris.
"Dada!" Iris squealed.
"Good morning my lovely ladies. I did say I would come every sunset but I decided to come every sunrise. To adapt in daylight a little." I said, stroking Iris' quills.
"Well, you witnessed her first steps." Amy said.
"Like a mama deer teaching her baby to walk. Dada sees you walking." I said to my lovely baby girl. Iris giggles and touched my face.
"Dada loves you and mommy" I said and stroked her cheek.
"And mama loves you and daddy. I'm taking Iris to the playground park. Wanna come? It's a good chance for you to learn to raise my baby like a father." Amy said.
"Sure thing, Ames." I agreed and we put Iris on a stroller as we headed out.
We went to the elevator since we are going to use a stroller for Iris. I held Iris in my arms since infants are not used to elevators going up or down.
"There, there, Iris." I comforted her as soon as we were down, we got out heading outside and down the stairs.
"Good girl, Iris. Dada is happy." I said as I put her on the stroller and she claps her small hands in happiness as we went to the park.
"Time for me to become a father to your lovely baby angel. I'm a little nervous if I mess up." I said shyly.
"I believe in you Sonic." Amy said.
I smiled at her and we arrived at the playground. So many kids playing with their parents and friends.
"Okay Iris? What do you wanna play with?" I looked around; she points at the swings.
"The swings it is." I said, bringing her to the toddler seat of the swing.
I pushed her seat gently back and forth, "Weeeeeeeee!" Iris cheered and giggled as she had fun with the swing. It feels good being a dad.
I see Amy joining Iris by swinging on the big kid swing. Funny for an adult mother that is doing something like a kid on the swing. Well, at least the swing holds her.
"Woooooohoooo!" Amy cried out in joy.
"Aw Amy. Having fun too?" I chuckled.
"Yeah, it brings the child in me out." She replied.
"Heh, I see. Wanna play more Iris?" I asked Iris and got her out of the swing seat and she nods and then points at the slide.
"Erm, I dunno if it's safe for her." I was hesitant.
"I agree. Unless you can slide with her by holding her. But I am a little mama bear for her. She's too young for the slide." Amy said and goes to the picnic table to watch.
"Okay then" I got up the slide and had Iris on my lap, "Dada got you, angel." I said and then we glide down the slide, "Weeeeeeee!"
I was relieved that she didn't get scared or wailed out loud. Oh, thank god.
"You're a good little brave girl, are you?" I petted my step-daughter on the head.
"Dada." She grabbed my finger.
"Someday you'll be big and strong." I chuckled.
"Iris, lunch time, sweetie." Amy said at the picnic table with a milk bottle.
"Let's go see mommy." I said to Iris and brought her to the picnic table.
Amy put Iris on her lap and let her drink her milk from the bottle gently.
"I'm starting to get the hang of being a father to her. I'm starting to like this new life, milady Rose." I said.
"Glad you are. But are you okay with having two worlds within you? I mean, I just wanna be sure that it doesn't bother you with choosing." Amy asked.
"I don't mind that, Amy. As long as you are happy, I'm happy." I said.
"Thanks, Sonikku. And I see you're wearing my husband's marriage ring. As long as my husband is happy that I have someone to keep me and Iris happy, he's happy to be at peace." Amy said, as she helped Iris burp.
"Yeah. You ignited the spark between us, my sweet rose." I said, then we two shared a kiss.
"Of course my darling Sonic." Amy said.
We see Iris falling asleep in her mommy's arms. I've heard that babies take lots of naps because their bodies are changing them. I really look forward when she grows up with me and Amy.
"Heh, what a sleepyhead you are." I chuckled at how cute she sleeps.
"Perfectly normal for babies to get a good sleep." Amy chuckled.
"Yeah. She's so cute." I said, seeing Amy cradle Iris.
"And you also sleep during the day. It's time for both of you to head back at my place to nap." Amy teased me.
"Very well, Amy" We got up and put sleepy Iris in the stroller.
