Chapter 57 || A Warrior Just The Same
"𝓡𝓸𝓼𝓮𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓻𝓮𝓭, 𝓿𝓲𝓸𝓵𝓮𝓽𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓫𝓵𝓾𝓮, 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰'𝓼 𝓹𝓸𝓼𝓼𝓲𝓫𝓵𝓮, 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓼 𝓽𝓻𝓾𝓮."
"I don't know, I've got one of those feelings." April muttered to you as you sat beside her in the control room seats.
"Yeah, it's weird, but me too." You said frowning slightly. "All that's left is for Mikey to say that something might be wrong, and you know this'll be a disaster."
Just as April was about to agree, Casey interrupted your conversation. "Don't worry about bug-face. Your man Casey's here to protect you." You facepalmed at his comment and shook you head. He was such a try-hard in some situations.
"Welcome to the Sectoid System. Population: bugs. Lots and lots of bugs." Fugitoid said as the tachyon warp ended. Even some bugs were beginning to splat against the windshield.
"I bet this is majorly freaking you out, Raph, being afraid of bugs and all." Mikey said as he invaded his brother's space.
Raph shoved his brother's face away. "Not in front of Mona, Mikey." He said, his eyes shifting left and right nervously.
You stood up and walked over to Raph, leaning against the back of his station. "You're freaking out~!" You teased in a sing-song voice as you and Mikey chuckled with each other.
"I'm totally fine! No prob. Not itching all over or freaking out, not me!" He denied, subconsciously scratching at his plastron.
"Oh wow, this looks bad." You muttered to Mikey.
The youngest brother only laughed. "If you think this is bad, I should tell you about the time Donnie's cockroach spy got into some mutagen-" Your conversation was interrupted when the ship landed.
"Alright, let's go rescue Sal Commander!" Leo ordered as you pulled on your spacesuit, and all of you walked out of the ship.
"Come, my friends. I will lead us to Dregg's lair." Mona Lisa said as she walked forward, leading the group. Wait... How did she know where Dregg's lair was? Your suspicion rose exponentially when you realized this, but you bit your lip. You had to trust her. You had to trust Raph's decision of trusting her. If anything, you would bail them all out later.
There were comments about the strange planet thrown around, but for some reason, your eyes never left Mona Lisa and Raph - that was until you heard Leo and Casey scream and run right past you.
"What'd you do now Jones?" April asked irritated. Both you and April looked behind you to see a swarm of alien insects heading right toward you. "Aw space apples!"
Everyone began defending against the horde. April was pinned under one, barely making it away from being stung as Mikey wrapped his nunchucks around it and pulled it away. Leo was slicing through them no problem, you beside him as you engaged your metallic hilt weapon. The upgrade caused it to encase both your hands in titanium gauntlets, rather than metallic knuckles. You hit anything that came too close to you with electricity laced punches.
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Raph and Mona Lisa fighting beside one another, and you honestly thought it was sweet. She was a keeper if this whole thing didn't end in disaster like you felt like it would.
Then there was Casey - he took one good swing at one of the insects and it went flying right into Donnie's face. Not long after, he was stung and his face swelled beyond imagination. You and April flinched upon seeing it, and you immediately felt bad for him.
"Oh, dear. We should get him back to the ship immediately!" Fugitoid said as April helped him up.
"Hang in there, Don. We'll go for Sal Commander." Leo said as Fugitoid and April went with Donnie to escort him back to the ship.
You and Mikey hesitated, looking between the direction where Donnie went to where Raph and the others had gone. The two of you shared glances. "You feel it too, right Mikey?" You asked. "That feeling like something's gonna go wrong." He only nodded in response and the two of you caught up with the others heading to Dregg's lair.
Finally out of the wood like area, there was a dreadful looking castle on the hill. "If the castle is one giant bug where do you think they keep the dungeon?" Raph asked, scratching himself subconsciously again. You placed a hand on his arm and pulled it away from his skin so he would stop scratching. You did all of this while still staring at the castle in front of you.
"Lord Dregg is known to keep his prisoners caged in his throne room. He sees them as trophies." Mona Lisa replied.
You gave a lopsided expression of distaste. "Does he freeze them or something, then? Because I don't see how that would work well with the more powerful ones." You muttered.
Mona Lisa shook her head, and before she could give you a verbal answer, Leo jumped into the conversation. "Dregg's throne room? Perfect." Not much changed in his tone, but you could see his eyes shift to the menacing white that you'd yet to see in a long while. It both sent shivers down your back and comforted you that he was taking this seriously.
One thing did bother you though... Were... Were his change to white eyes getting kind of... attractive? What was wrong with you? Well that list was endless, but you supposed you were pretty much hopeless after falling in love with a mutant turtle anyways.
Raph laughed nervously as you all advanced toward Dregg's castle, once again scratching himself. You placed your hand on his arm to stop him again. "Careful, Raph." You spoke. "You might hurt yourself if you scratch too hard." He gave you a hesitant and crooked smile in response, but it was good enough.
Sneaking into the castle was easier than you liked to think, especially compared to sneaking into other places like Shredder's headquarters and the Triceraton mothership, and it unnerved you.
"Whoa, this place is so met-" Casey was interrupted by an irritated Raph.
"We know, Casey. Metal. Everything on this stupid planet is metal. Shut up already." He hissed.
"Look!" Leo pointed to the figure lying unconscious on the floor.
"Is that Commander G'Throkka?" You asked aloud.
"I'm surprised you can say his name." Raph muttered.
"It's not that hard." You responded with a slight pout.
The others immediately rushed to his side, but you stayed put, "Wait!" You cried, holding your hand out to try to stop them from rushing in, but it was too late. An orange forcefield surrounded Casey and Mikey as the hologram of Sal Commander disappeared. Leo and Raph had managed to leap out of the way in time.
The lights flashed on and Lord Dregg had been there the whole time, sitting on his throne made to look like the exoskeleton of an insect. "Finally the Turtle aliens are mine!" Dregg said, cackling evilly.
"You mean ours, Dregg. Don't you cut old Armaggon out of the deal." Armaggon came out of the shadows as well, and you stiffened up. Your arm was twisted behind your back and you cried out.
"You did well, Y'Gythgba." Lord Dregg said as you were dragged along to stand beside Lord Dregg by Mona Lisa.
Before you arrived by their side, you heard something whispered underneath her breath. "I'm sorry, (Y/N)." Your eyes widened.
"(Y/N)!" Leo called, his eyes turning to their dangerous white. "Let her go!"
You were touched by Leo's worry, but you were less worried about yourself. Raph looked broken, "Mona, how could you? How could you betray us? How could you betray me?" Raph asked, utter betrayal covering his entire expression.
Unlike his brother, Leo wasted no time. He got into a fighting stance, and as the insect bodyguards (Vreen as Dregg called them) attacked, Leo sliced them in half. "Raph, free the others! I'll get (Y/N)!" He rushed in to try and get you away from Mona Lisa, fighting growing numbers of Dregg's Vreen. You struggled against Mona Lisa's hold, but every time you did, she only tightened her grip.
"Please do not struggle, (Y/N)." Her voice held guilt, but not nearly as much as her eyes did when you were on your way here. Probably because Dregg was right there.
You saw her expression from the corner of your eye. "Mona Lisa." You began, standing straight, despite the strain it put on your arm. "I hope you have a very good explanation of this later." It wasn't a threat, it was a genuine hope.
You took a deep breath, knowing this would hurt, and you twisted your body against Mona Lisa's hold. Your shoulder made a loud and skin crawling cracking sound as it was popped out of it's socket. She let go of you out of pure shock; everyone's eyes were on you, Leo's were wide open as he called out your name, but it was white noise in the background. Slipping your good hand into your pocket, you pulled out your weapon, the metal handle extending to your tech-staff. You twirled it once in your hand and used it to push Mona Lisa away from you. Pressing a single button in the process, three mini-rockets shot out of the top and exploded in the faces of Dregg and Armaggon.
"(Y/N)!" Leo leaped towards you, but was overwhelmed as soon as he was about to reach you. He was shot by one of the Vreen, smoke filled the air around him before he fell to the ground unconscious.
"LEO!" You called, lunging towards him with your weapon switching to a spear. "Get away from him!" You leaped onto one of the Vreen crowding him and pierced it's shoulder.
The smoke cleared in front of Dregg, Armaggon, and Mona Lisa, and Dregg ordered for more of the large body guard like insects. You were overwhelmed just the same and pinned down. You could only watch as Armaggon approached Raph to give him an elbow to the head. "No, no! Raph get up and fight! RAPH!" You struggled against the Vreen holding you down, and cried out in pain again when one pressed too harshly against your dislocated shoulder.
All of you were rounded up like animals and thrown back into the same orange bubble prison that Casey and Mikey were held in.
Lord Dregg began his monologue. "Once I discovered the red turtle had a thing for the Salamandrian female, the plan came easily."
It was funny to see the shark bounty hunter interrupt him though. "Hey, who hacked their intergalactic love-mail? Armaggon. Who captured the big lizard? Armaggon."
"All right, we get it!" Lord Dregg snapped.
As soon as you were all thrown into the prison, they had began their back and forth banter, and Leo woke up.
His first reaction was to check up on you. "(Y/N), your arm - it's dislocated. I'll pop it back into place." He said quickly, already taking hold of your arm.
"Wait!" You flinched and he stopped. "... Sorry, Leo. It's just that... Well, you know how much I hate the feeling. Besides, I always pass out right after."
Leo gave you a gentle smile. "Don't worry, I'll wake you up if you do." You returned the smile and he took you by surprise by shoving it back into your socket with a single swift motion. Just as you were about to cry out in pain, he covered your mouth with his own lips, quieting you with a kiss.
Casey and Mikey looked away with disgust, and if you hadn't passed out right after...
You might have thought it was almost romantic.
