Chapter 46 || The Triceraton Empire

"Greetings, sub-life-forms of Earth. I am Captain Mozar of the Triceraton Empire. Let it be known, your planet is infested with Kraang an insidious alien bent on mutating Earth into their own home world. We Triceratons will eliminate these hideous aliens, freeing you of their vile plans. Unfortunately, your Earth will be annihilated as well. That is all. And, please, have a nice day."

You dropped your phone as you watched the TV with wide eyes.

This couldn't be happening. You just finished putting one alien invasion in the dirt, and Raph just told you about the Triceratons just a few days ago. Yet they were invading already. No - scratch that - they were just going to destroy the whole place. But if the others had any idea that this was going to happen, then why didn't they tell you? Why didn't they call you to come back?

Because you were supposed to leave.

You couldn't convince your parents that you should stay in New York, even if your school did switch your internship. You'd told Alaric just the other day that you had to go back home with a heavy heart, but you had yet to tell the others. You were just on the phone, trying once again to convince them to let you stay before the day your plane ticket arrived.

Then the Triceraton message sent chills down your spine. You picked your phone back up, hanging up on your parents, you called April up instead, gearing up with your weapons and skates.

"(Y/N)! Where are you going?!" Alaric asked as he saw you run out of the apartment without another word. It was best if he stayed out of the situation this time. It looked like it might just be a life or death battle, especially with the way Raph described the strength of the Triceratons.

You got no answer from April, and no matter how many times you called the others, you got nothing from them as well. Finally, you decided that your best bet was to go to the Lair.

Jumping down into the sewers, you navigated the routes with some difficulty. You had the map that Donnie gave you, but it still took you a long while before you got there.

You leaped over the ticket gate leading to the Lair and upon your arrival you saw Slash and Rockwell injured and being tended to Splinter. "What happened?!" You asked, rushing to their side and helping Splinter tend to the others.

"They were injured when trying to defeat the Triceraton." Splinter explained.

"And the others? April, Casey? The turtles?" You asked desperately.

"They've gone to prevent the the Triceratons from destroying Earth... And April had just called - we are needed in battle as well. As soon as Slash and Rockwell are well... I'm afraid they will have to see to combat."

Your lips drew into a thin line, your head held low. "If... If they'd just told me, I could have helped." You muttered as you looked to Slash and Rockwell.

Splinter pulled you to the side, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Do not blame yourself, child." He began with an understanding expression. "I know the reason why you kept away for so long. Your family away is just as important as your family here."

At first you thought he was talking about your confession to Leo, but when you realized he was talking about the possibility that you would need to leave New York, a wave of relief washed over your massive anxiety.

"I know, thank you Master Splinter." You said nodding. "Now, let's get Slash and Rockwell on their feet."

.

.

You skated down the now dark avenues of New York, following Master Splinter, April, and the Mutanimals towards the battle ground.

When you first saw April, you could tell she was going to mention how awkward it would be when you fought beside Leo again, but the determination on your face stopped her in her tracks. She knew that no matter what she said, you were going to fight beside them, like always. What she didn't know, was that it might just be your last battle with them. If you all survived this, and if you all defeated the Triceratons today, then you would have to return home in a week, and leave the people you care for behind.

But you couldn't tell her. Not now, not when they needed you most.

You jumped right into the fray of battle as soon as you got there, electrocuting one of the massive Triceratons with the sharp edges of your platinum knuckles, and jumping back, giving your friends a grin.

"We heard you might need some assistance." Splinter said as the reinforcements lined up, ready for battle.

Cries of relief came from everyone already in battle, but it soon started up again. Everyone was occupied, and even though you knew you couldn't do much alone, you knew you wouldn't have to. It didn't matter who you teamed up with, April, Casey, Donnie, Mikey, Raph, or Leo; no matter what, they had your back, just as you did theirs.

"We have to stop the blackhole generator from being activated!" You called as you realized that many of you were forgetting the objective.

"Slash, Leatherhead, take that machine down now!" Leo ordered, coming to your aid as you were being battered with laser fire.

The two of you worked together, sending blow after blow to the Triceraton before he eventually fell unconscious. Looking up, you realized Slash alone had gotten to the blackhole generator, and he hadn't even made a dent in it.

"Aim for a control panel!" You called before more laser fire whizzed past your head. More and more Triceratons were beaming down from their ships. You were at a lost - there was no way that you could take on anymore. Soon enough, more and more of your friends were being bubbled by them as well.

"You are coming with me."

You didn't hear much before or after that, but when you turned around to look at the speaking Triceraton, you were mortified to see him grab Mikey and teleport away in an instant.

"MIKEY!" You called, rushing to jump into the transport beam, but missing only by a hair as they disappeared right before your eyes. "NO!"

Soon enough you were surrounded by Triceratons, and as they threw a bubbling prison towards you, you knocked it away, causing one of them to be bubbled instead. You wouldn't leave without a fight - you wouldn't leave without Mikey!

"I'll take you all on!" You hissed, changing your platinum knuckles to a spear with electricity crackling as you futilely attacked them.

"We need to go, Sensei!" You heard Leo call.

"Retreat! Everyone retreat!" Splinter spoke.

No, you couldn't leave them behind- you couldn't let them win! Not for your last battle... not before you said an official goodbye...

"(Y/N)!" Leo took down one of the Triceratons surrounding you, creating a space for you to exit. "We need to leave!"

"NO!" You cried desperately. "Not without Mikey! Not without everyone else!" Anxiety and panic began to fill your throat, as he dragged you forward.

He pulled you in, holding both of your arms tightly in his grasp and looking you in the eyes. "If we don't retreat now, then we'll never get them back." He didn't even wait for you to finish taking in the blunt of his words before he took your hand in his, lacing your fingers together and rushing out of the situation.

Stubborn tears rolled down your face as you left them behind.
