Chapter 33 || Glass Box Aquarium

"Give him back!" You screeched as the footbots took Splinter away. You had finally woken up from being knocked unconscious. You arrived at Shredder's base - of course you did.
You were utterly terrified, but that didn't stop you from thrashing left and right, trying to get Splinter back. They took him to Shredder's throne room while you were roughly thrown into what looked like an aquarium - or at least one of those glass boxes you keep your pet snakes in.
You banged on the glass, rammed into it, anything you could to try and get out. They took your weapons, and you were basically defenseless. You were afraid. Not of Shredder, but by the idea of seeing Tigerclaw and telling him that you betrayed him to his face. Even if you tried to rationalize it by saying that he was a bad guy to begin with, it still twisted you up inside. Tigerclaw treated you well - dare I say - he treated you like his own cub.
And how did you repay him? By playing spy and running off with the turtles when times got hard. You kept a sound conscious though. You weren't sorry for going with the turtles - you knew you were in the right. He was the bad guy. Not you.
You were now in the care of Baxter Stockman. What a twist of fate. It made you want to throw up at the irony.
"Well, well, well! If it isn't (Y/N), my old lab azzziztant." He buzzed. Seriously, you wanted to throw up every time you saw him - even before you ran off with the turtles. "It seemzzz I have free reign over you now." He said stroking his fly chin with his claw like hand. "But don't worry. I only have to mutate you! I promizze that I'll let you pick what you want to be mutated into as a favor for treating me well."
Well you guessed you did say before that kindness came with karma. You just thought that there would be more.
"You can't even do me the favor of not mutating me?" You asked nervously.
"I'm afraid not." He replied. "I have orderzz to mutate traitorzzz like you."
"Right..." You muttered and frowning distastefully.
And then he walked in. Shredder entered the lab with Splinter in tow, and Tigerclaw as well. You watched as they shoved Splinter into a similar glass aquarium looking prison. Then they approached you. This was your moment of truth.
"(Y/N) (L/N)..." Shredder spoke carefully, puffing out his chest even more as he looked down on you.
You stood your ground. You stood tall, even if you could feel your knees shake. You tried your best to meet his gaze, but instead you kept taking glances at Tigerclaw.
"You betrayed me." Shredder said. "But I can tell it's not me you're worried about..." He moved out of the way and allowed Tigerclaw to step forward and speak with you through the glass.
"(L/N)." Tigerclaw addressed you so coldly, you nearly flinched. It was like frostbite.
"Tigerclaw." You acknowledged him in return. You didn't bother trying to apologize or explain yourself. You weren't in the wrong, and if you tried, then he would probably kill you without hesitation anyway.
"You betrayed Master Shredder. Therefore you have betrayed me. I hope you know the consequences of doing so." He spoke through his thick Asian accent.
"I do, but I'm not afraid." You said, taking a deep breath and straightening your spine. "I have no reason to be when I'm fighting for what I believe in."
Shredder let out a deep laugh. He looked past Tigerclaw and towards you. "Had you not been such a fool to join the turtles, then you would have made a fine commander in my mutant army."
You and Tigerclaw ignored him. "You have no regrets then?" Tigerclaw asked you. You looked into his eyes. He was searching yours for any hidden emotions, but you had none. You knew he did though.
"I have one." You confessed. "I'm sorry that we had to be on different sides. You were a great father figure." You said nothing after that, only walking to one of the corners in your glass box and sitting there, knees pulled into your chest.
Tigerclaw said nothing more either, only walking away and leaving the lab with the Shredder.

It had been a few... hours maybe? You were starting to think that maybe your new found family wouldn't come for you in time. You'd already (jokingly) told Stockman your request for what animal you wanted to be mutated into, but you were seriously panicking. Mainly because you were beaten up in the 2 hours of being here by some footbots that Rahzar and Xever had sent to mess with you for a good laugh. It was cruel and stupid, and it made you more and more angry that you could barely defend against them for very long without your weapon.
But you sat in the corner sulking for long enough. You had to find a way to get past Stockman and get out of here with Splinter. You couldn't wait for the turtles to come break you out forever. You looked outside the glass cage and surveyed the area. Well they'd made quite a few adjustments since you were gone. The glass prisons were new. Not to mention the spherical form of the Mutagen storage. And there was a control panel to the right as well... You could use that.
But just as you formed your plan, you saw the turtles. Your eyes went wide and lit up. You made eye contact with Mikey, and just as he was about to open his mouth to loudly tell his brothers, you made a shushing motion. Right now they were by Splinter's cage. They could get him out first.
So instead, Mikey opted for a quieter version of telling his brothers. As soon as they got Splinter out though, Stockman found them, and you yelled.
"GET OUT OF HERE!" You called to them. Donnie then realized you really were just across the room, behind the large vile of Mutagen.
Soon enough Stockman began attacking and you whistled for Donnie's attention. "Get me out of here!" You yelled to him as he made quick work of the glass wall keeping you trapped. "Thanks Don, now it's time to get rid of Stockman and get out of here."
Before you knew it, everyone was trying to keep Stockman away from the control panel with the emergancy button. Then they made the mistake of swinging him too closely to his stock of Shredder mutants.
"Seriosuly, Stockman!?" You yelled at him. "You messed with Shredder's DNA!?"
"Mind your own buzzziness!" He hissed back at you.
You were all thrown into battle again. The turtle brothers had a hard time fighting off the Shredder arthropods, but you and Mikey were handling Stockman. "Where's my weapon!?" You yelled at Stockman as you jumped onto his back mid air and hanging on. "Where is my weapon, Stockman!?"
He only screamed and yelled as you kept asking him questions. That, and he kept spitting acid at Mikey. "Answer me!" You grabbed him by the antenna and pulled him around as if you were reigning in a horse.
"When did you get so violent!?" Was the only thing he said before you gave him a malicious smile.
"I've always been violent." You jumped off of his back and rolled onto the side where the control panel was and Mikey threw a smoke bomb egg at his face.
"Booya-kasha!" You and Mikey high-three-fived each other, and as he put his hand down on the panel, he managed to push the emergency button.
"MIKEY!" All of you yelled at him as sirens echoed through the entire facility.
Before you knew it, you jumped down with Mikey from the second floor to help the others with fighting the Shredder mutants, but it seemed that the newly returned Splinter handled them just fine.
"Father?"
"Sensei?"
Everyone was wondering if he was back to normal, but the smile he gave as he said, "My sons." was more than enough of an answer. The turtles rushed in to hug their father. "How I have missed you, my sons and the rest of my family." He said looking towards all of you. You were surprised that he included you as well, but gave him a thankful grin in return.
Sadly the reunion was ruined by Shredder's voice. "So the turtles live. And the rat thinks like a man again. Now you will know when my blade is at your throat."
Splinter growled, anger clouding his judgement in the slightest, but Leonardo stopped him. "Yes, now is not the time to fight." He nodded, allowing Mikey to throw down a smoke bomb, and all of you fled the scene.
You all reached the Party Wagon and drove off into the sewers again, finally breathing - but Tigerclaw ruined that too when he showed up. His appearance was brief though, because Mikey took the opportunity to use your idea for a weapon - Sir Sizalot. A fire breathing stuffed deer head.
None of you let relief fall over until you were sure you weren't in danger this time, but then there was something important to mention.
"So, where do we go now?" You asked. "We have no base."
"We have no home to go back to." Mikey said sadly.
Splinter smiled. "Homes are transitory. What matters is that we are together."
"But we still need a place to hang our masks, Sensei. Where are we gonna live?" Leonardo made a good point, but you found it sweet that he was finally relying on someone again.
Everyone began giving ideas, none of them too solid until Mikey said, "Wait, I have the greatest idea ever! It's secret, fortified, and no one would ever think to look for us there!"
You all arrived at Antonio's Pizza place and you felt a nostalgic smile emerge on your face.
"Perfect, right?" Mikey asked with a broad smile.
"Yes, it's perfect."
