Chapter 10 || Fate At Its Finest
"𝓘𝓽 𝓲𝓼 𝓷𝓲𝓬𝓮 𝓽𝓸 𝓯𝓲𝓷𝓪𝓵𝓵𝔂 𝓶𝓮𝓮𝓽 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓭𝓮𝓮𝓹, 𝓬𝓪𝓵𝓶, 𝓬𝓸𝓸𝓵 𝓫𝓵𝓾𝓮."
Just as you dived out of the way to avoid being blown up as well, you heard shouts. You rolled and made a mad dash to hide behind construction beams, the familiar grunts of battle filling your ears. Remembering your weapon, you ripped it off its place in your lab coat and gripped it tightly in your hands, adapting it to a blunt, metallic staff.
Looking over the top of the construction beams, you felt a stray plasma shot run past your head and you could nearly smell the burnt singe of your hair. It was as if your life flashed in your mind in that instant and the fear of death bared its fangs to you.
You were frozen in place, but you couldn't look away as you watched the battle in front of you. Four more mutants joined the fray along with the familiar silhouette of a person. The four mutants and single person worked together to try and take down the larger two mutants, only for one of the four turtles to be roughly knocked into one of the support beams of the building.
You could hear their shouts and even see the dimly lit expressions of worry and concern, but as soon as they did, amongst the voices you heard an eerily familiar one.
"Leonardo..?" You whispered his name subconsciously and under your breath.
Just then another blast was sent your way and you jumped out from behind the construction beams, only to be seized by one of the robots nearby.
Letting out a yelp, you squirmed in its arms. "Let me go, you stupid robot!" You hissed out, waving around until you stabbed the soft midsection of the driod with the ends of your metallic staff.
You were released immediately, but not before another explosion was set off beside you, your fluttering lab coat being burned in the process.
"(Y/N)!?" It was Leonardo's voice, no doubt about it.
There were sounds of fighting, and then silence for a moment, but then again it was hard to tell when your ears were ringing from the blast. When your hearing cleared up though, you could see five figures in the moonlight.
A single person came rushing to your side. "(Y/N)!" It was Casey.
"Casey? What are you doing here? What happened? Who-"
He immediately cut you off by covering your mouth with his gloved hand. "This is a dream. Now don't move." He reached for his baseball bat and you smacked him across the face with what little energy you had left. "What the hell!?" He cried, cradling the cheek you hit.
"Me!? Do you think I'm stupid?! Why would I fall for something like that? I know this is real!" You shakily stood up on your own and made your way to where the four mutant turtles were hiding. Behind the blown up, no longer on fire, white van.
"Sorry, I tried to stop her." Casey muttered with a guilty tinge.
As soon as you turned the corner, you saw three of them crowding around one injured turtle. You swallowed the nervousness that built up in your throat and approached them even more.
"Wait! Umm... You can't tell anyone about us - uhh... we're umm." He was wearing a blue bandanna and had dual swords on his back, along with bandages surrounding different parts of his body.
"I know you." You said bluntly. "I know your voice."
Leonardo's eyes widened, his mouth left slightly agape, but he was completely speechless.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Leonardo." You gave an understanding smile, and then proceeded to kneel beside the injured turtle. He was wearing a purple bandana. "He's injured, I can help."
Donatello could barely keep himself awake, as he felt as though his shell was knocked loose, but out of all his brothers, he was the only one who could administer first aid to himself. That was until you walked into the picture.
"Are you sure?" The one that spoke narrowed his emerald eyes at you. He wore a red bandana, had two pointy looking weapons at his side, and was the one supporting Donatello.
"Yes." Was all you replied, determination and stubbornness in your tone, as you could hear his distrust.
"Alright! Dudette's coming with us!" One who wore orange smiled despite the situation, but his eyes held worry for his brother; you knew they did.
The three conscious brothers looked to one another and then to you before they hauled Donatello up and carried him to the Shellraiser, where you could begin helping their brother. Casey followed behind you, putting a hand on your shoulder, but honestly completely mortified that you weren't freaking out right now.
After all, they missed your initial mutant freak out, because you'd had it with Tigerclaw's appearance.

You'd begun examining Donatello's injuries inside the Shellraiser, but it wasn't until they reached the Lair that you'd had the materials to begin 'fixing' him.
They had left him in your hands, and you were actually doing pretty well, considering that you only managed to help him with your knowledge of basic first aid. But as soon as he woke, they all left the Lair again, leaving you pretty much in the dark.
The only assurance you had was when Leonardo spoke to you alone.
"I promise I'll explain everything later, I just-" You stopped him short by placing your hand in front of him.
"I told you before didn't I?" You smiled at him. "I don't mind. Explain yourself when you're ready."
And with that he gave you a gentle grin and left with his brothers and Casey to handle the details of Slash and Newtralizer.

It was a long night, and you'd been here for at least 5 minutes now, but what you didn't expect was for your eyes to wander to the different inventions in the laboratory. They intrigued you in a special kind of way, and you did you best not to touch them, but they made you feel like a kid again. You could feel the way his inventions kindled the fire that was first lit when you were a child, barely learning about the intricacies of science.
Of course, your geeking out was interrupted by the opening of the doors to the lab and the sound of a bag hitting the floor. As soon as you turned around, you held your hands in the air, as if you were caught red handed.
"I swear I didn't touch anything!" You said quickly with wide eyes.
Then you realized just who was at the door and you relaxed just as quickly. Although, April's expression stayed the same; her eyes were wide as ever, her mouth agape, and her now empty hand was still up, as if she was still holding her backpack in her hand.
"(Y/N) what are you doing here!? What if the turtles find you!? What if Splinter finds you!?" April began to have a meltdown, but you placed your hand on her shoulder.
"It's fine, I met the guys." You said simply. "... But I am curious to see this Splinter guy, who is that?" You were quickly shushed by April and shoved back into the lab.
She closed the doors behind her and said, "You already met them? How? When? Why?"
You only chuckled, she was freaking out even worse than you did. "Don't worry April, the boys should be back any minute now. They'll explain everything." You then yawned. "I'm too tired to."
You were showered with more comments, but eventually it got so late into the night that your eyes began to droop despite April's panicking. Before you knew it, you were asleep, and the boys arrived 15 minutes after you did.
Although you weren't there for the explanation April was given, you woke up to find that everyone was crowding around a rat mutant, who's attention was then turned to you. From his presence alone, you could tell he was respectable, and because of that, you straitened yourself and approached him.
"You must be (Y/N)." He spoke diligently. "I've heard much about you from April and Casey."
You could hear the Japanese accent from his voice, the same as Mr. Oroku, and you gave him a polite bow in return. "It's nice to meet you, sir." You gave him a calm smile, as you were still waking up.
"You healed my son Donatello and have been aiding them in their missions. I thank you for this." He said nodding to you in acknowledgment.
"Working with them was an honor, I hope I can continue to."
Oh, you were good at this. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, Casey, and April all stared at your exchange in wonder. Not only were you taking this whole mutant thing well, but you were basically charming Splinter in the ways of elderly respect. No doubt he would let you stick around... right?
Splinter smiled at you warmly and Casey stared in disbelief. "Seriously!?" Casey called out, gesturing to you and Splinter. "How are you not freaking out right now!?"
You only gave Casey a passing glare. "Casey, I've dealt with mutants before."
This caused all eyes to drift to you, "You have?" April asked, earning a nod.
All of a sudden, more questions were showered your way, and you took a step back at the sudden flurry. This was quickly halted when Splinter's voice echoed through the Lair. "Enough!"
Everyone stopped in their tracks and Splinter turned to you. "I apologize for them, but I'm afraid a correct introduction is in place. My name is Master Splinter, and these are my sons."
As he gestured to each one, they introduced themselves.
"You already know me. It's nice to finally meet you in person, (Y/N). I'm Leonardo, but call me Leo."
"I still don't trust you." He was given a glare by Splinter. "My name is Raphael... or Raph or whatever."
"My name is Donatello, we've spoken before today, I believe. You can call me Donnie if you'd like."
"And I'm Michelangelo, yo! But you can call me Mikey! It's great to finally see you dudette!"
You couldn't help but smile at all their introductions - well, except for Raph. He was still acting like a prick, but you could tell that after you repaired Donnie, he was warming up to you. Leo was special though, you met him first, and you'd most likely spoken to him the most often. It was only like 3 calls, but it was more than the others nonetheless. He was your friend, and that was definite.
"Im sure you're tired, (Y/N)." Splinter began. "Allow my son to escort you home for today. We can speak about important matters another day. It is late." He gestured to Leonardo who smiled and gestured for you to follow.
"Cmon, I can take you home."
