Chapter Six
The sounds of birds chirping, kids laughing as they ran about, and boisterous Second year students exclaiming how well first year had been filled the village. Countless people were walking up and down sidewalks, talking and laughing as loud as their voices could ever get. Apart from the loud kids, the seemingly happy adults, and the students that were excited to be going into Hogwarts of all places, they were two children who didn't seem to have that much excitement or rather they didn't seem to show it as much as the rest.
A young boy kneeled on the ground, pots of flowers arranged in a neat order in front of him with labels stuck to their solid pots. He was running his fingers against the sides and edges, watching the breeze sway the flowers back and forth like some sort of clock hand. He paused, green eyes narrowed slightly before he whirled around, catching the rock that was thrown precisely at his head, fingers curling around the piece of concrete that was molded into a jagged, ball shape, Blue dropped it towards the ground and sniffed slightly as he rubbed his nose.
"Aw, you caught it again! That's not fair, At least let me hit you once, Blue!"
Blue rubbed his nose, blinking rapidly as he squinted slightly at the other young boy who stood a little away from him, hands on his hips and lower lip jutting out as his cheeks puffed out, blue eyes narrowed in annoyance. All Blue did was silently tilt his head to the side, picking up the fallen rock with a mischievous grin.
"H-huh?! Hey, wait a minute! B-Blue, C'mon-"
Blue brought his lips into a thin line, causing the other boy to pause as he reared his arm back, curling his fingers against the rock and gripping the jagged surface tightly before flinging it over. The grey rock was simply a blur as Finley let out a shriek and scrambled sideways, the jagged rock suddenly hitting the tree behind the other boy. Blue huffed and scrunched up his nose, watching with disinterest as Finley slowly made his way back over.
The blue eyed boy twiddled his thumbs together as he inched closer only to have a hand snatch his collar and pull him over. Blue held his chin up with two fingers, eyebrow raised as he tilted his head to the side, not at all concerned with the reddening of Finley's usually pale face.
"What did you need me for that you had to throw a rock at me? Not to mention that I could have hurt you if you didn't dodge."
The taller boy's tone was slightly disinterested yet his eyes held a different story as Finley winced, the reality of the whole situation simply crashing down upon his shoulders. He slumped his own shoulders, eyes flickering elsewhere as Blue kept a firm grip on his wrist.
"Draco's here."
Blue blinked widely, trying to comprehend the situation that had presented itself in the form of two words. He paused for a lengthy amount of time before letting go of his best friend and suddenly whirling towards the small house that Remus and he lived in, along with occasional sleep overs with Finley.
"That pompous weasel better not have touched my-"
Blue paused softly, eyes narrowing in on the blonde boy who was too busy throwing book after book into a horrendous pile that forced the books to tear and lose their bookmarks. Blue's left eyebrow twitched as he stared at the mess that Draco was obliviously making before clearing his throat hard enough to exclaim loudly without getting a crack in his voice.
"You pompous, scaredy, weasel! Didn't I tell you to leave my books alone or else your eyes are going to be black and blue courtesy of me slamming a book straight into your stupid and bloody face?!"
Draco rolled his grey eyes to ceiling, shifting so that he was sitting down on the circular carpet instead of kneeling like some groveling Slave. He blinked down at the last book he had pulled from the shelves which was in his hands, twisting it around to examine further, the Malfoy simply ignored Blue's large outburst, favoring more into the silent treatment that would inevitably cause the smaller of the two to retaliate again. After all, Draco always did love getting underneath the skin of 'Blue' Potter.
Finally, after a few lone minutes of silently observing the torn book, Draco made his distaste known by throwing it back into the pile of books he had created within the middle of the carpet. The book fell with a thud, the bookmark suddenly slipping out and getting bent at a rather awkward angle. Blue felt his blood boil, eyes narrowed as he clenched his fists.
Draco looked up and leaped to his feet, dusting off invisible dirt and dust from his clothes that were distastefully muggle clothing. He sniffed for a moment before his lips twitched into that devious smirk that the boy wore oh so proudly that was until Blue had decided to speak up through the gritting of his teeth.
"Has Blondie the Weasel finally gotten tamed or are you still running amok as if you were a possessed squirrel?"
Draco felt his lips curl into a scowl as his eyes almost narrowed into nothing but angry slits of grey, his nostrils flared as color bloomed across his pale face. Without warning, the male parted his lips to shoot back.
"I can't say that I'm a fan of being compared to a squirrel of all creatures but honestly, at least I'm not some incompetent animal who can only chirp and not peck."
Blue's mouth hung gaping open as if in shock before his face morphed into that of pure anger. He clenched his fists, blood boiling as he stepped forward, Draco suddenly doing the same until they were face to face.
"Isn't that your Job, Weasel? After all, you're the coward."
"Last time I checked, I wasn't the one to burst out crying when a dog came near us, isn't that right, Birdie?"
Grey glared into green and the silence of the whole situation seemed to be what kept them at each other's throat despite the simple fact that they had known each other for years. As if Draco found it a waste of time to be arguing with a half blood, the male scoffed and turned around suddenly, his back to other boy as he squared his shoulders, head held high in a dignified way of pride for not stooping as low as a Muggle when it came to fights.
"Don't ignore me you moron!"
Of course, Draco should have also realized that turning his back upon a Potter would not go unpunished as the blonde boy had to duck from a incoming fist directed straight on top of his head. He gulped inwardly, shifting so that he was back to facing the seething reddish black haired boy.
"Guys! Please don't...oh." Finley's soft voice penetrated the thoughts of Blue who suddenly stood rigid, exhibiting an aura of complete and utter calmness, opposite of his chirping mouth just a few minutes prior. Blue's lips tightened into a thin line as he forced his body to turn fully towards the young boy, trying to keep that tight lipped smile upon his face as he spoke as slowly as possible, afraid he might say something that would give unto his lie.
"We weren't fighting Finny."
Finley's eyes narrowed slightly, his body weight shifting to the left as he rose one eyebrow. The blue eyed boy didn't look too convinced and simply slumped his shoulders after a while of staring into the green eyes of his best friend before whirling around and closing his eyes.
"Whatever, I'm going back to Auntie, she might be more capable of a peaceful conversation without insults and stupid fighting."
With that, Finley had disappeared around the corner with a skip in his step as he chanted on and on about something involving Hogwarts.
Blue felt his shoulders slump, nose scrunching up in obvious distaste and confusion as he whirled around, hands suddenly upon his hips and lower lip jutting out in confusion as his green eyes bore into dark grey ones. Draco could only hold a lopsided frown as his eyes stared past Blue and towards the corner where Finley had disappeared to. Blue took in a deep breathe, running a hand against his unruly curls with a twitch of his nose.
"I still can't believe you two are related."
