Chapter 35 ☆ The Ball

《Sierra》

"Can I dance with you, Princess Sierra of Sieberriah?" A handsome fine man asked me, wearing a formal white attire and a charming smile.

"Holy mother of cats. I don't know how to dance, please no-- I mean, I'm sorry but I couldn't dance." I said, backing off.

"I'm afraid you don't know me yet." He said.

"Well.."

"Let me introduce myself. I'm--"

"He's Vincent." Angelus said as he stepped between me and Vincent. They went to get some cupcakes.

"Here Sierra." Sachiel said as he offered me one.

"Thanks." I said as I took the cupcake.

"What do you want?" Angelus asked, frowning at Vincent.

"What makes you think I want anything, Angelus. Remember, not every little thing in this world is yours." Vincent said, smirking.

"Go away. I don't want any trouble." Angelus said.

"M'kay." Vincent said as he winked at Angelus. Then he walked away.

"Sierra. Don't go near him. Never trust him." Angelus warned as he turned and walked towards the king and queen who were both sitting on their thrones.

"What? Why?" I asked as I looked at Sachiel, rather confused.

"Vincent Gerard is the son of Paloma Gerard and Shilterine Gerard. Their one of the richest families in the world. Also, they're against the king and queen. Ever since Angelus was young, Vincent never liked him. Envy, maybe. Or maybe his parents told him to." Sachiel answered.

"Why is he---"

"Vincent always steals everyone from Angelus. Every friend. Every loved ones... He's stealing Angelus' happiness. That's why Angelus seldom comes back here. He's afraid that he'd steal you too. You're his friend."

I remained speechless.

"Enough with the seriousness, wanna dance?"

"Oh Sachiel, I don't even know how--"

"But I do know--."

"Nah, they'll just end up laughing at me." I said.

Instead of replying, Sachiel grabbed my hand and put it on his shoulder then his hand went on my waist. He held my other hand with his and winked at me.

"I don't know how to dance too."

I gaped, "Are you crazy?"

"Nah, just making someone realize something." He replied with a smirk.

It was awkward. Cringey. We were just talking. Not moving. Just talking.

"Sachiel, what are you thinking again?" I whispered.

"Just go with the flow--"

Sachiel stopped when someone cleared a throat behind me. I turned, "Angelus." I said.

"Can I ask you for a dance?" Angelus said, formally.

"Angelus, you know I don't know how." I replied.

"Don't you really? Well, I just saw you dance. Don't you really know how to dance or Do you just don't want to dance with me?" He said, calmly.

"Angelus... I really don't know how to dance... But I can try?" I said.

"I can teach you."

"Really?"

He nodded.

"W-Well..."

I placed my hand on his shoulder and he held my other hand just like Sachiel did. We started dancing. I wasn't pretty sure I danced well but atleast I already know how.

《Eryn》

"Why aren't they here yet? Where did they go?" I asked a girl, who, I'm  sure, is from Opinicum and one of Sierra's friend.

"I heard they went somewhere and will stay there for one week. Just for Sierra to practice. They didn't tell us where for security." She answered.

"Damn, Isabhel will kill me." I whispered.

《3rd person's POV》

In some part of the castle...
A person was locked in a room.
A dark room.

"Help! Let me out! Help!" She cried.

"No one can hear you. What you're doing is just useless. Here, take the food." Mia said as she dropped the food then went out.

With chains, she was locked. With ropes, she was tied.

"Let me out!" She screamed but no one replied. "Mom, Dad!" Her voice was breaking.

She cried and cried like she always does.

《Sierra》

"The ball was great!" I exclaimed.

"You like it?" Asked Angelus.

"Yes! it was amazing. Thanks Angelus. You too, Sach." I said, smiling.

"I barely did anything there."  Sachiel said.

"Sierra. You should sleep. You need energy for tomorrow for the practice. Remember the event, the shield breaker." Angelus said.

"It's still early." I groaned as I browsed the shelves on the sides for books. Then I spotted something. "A Journal?" I read. "You own a journal?" I smirked.

"Is that yours?" asked Sachiel.

Before I could even open the book, Angelus grabbed it from me. "Where did you see this?"

"Uhmm, on the shelf."

"I hid this." He said.

"Can I read it?" I asked.

He sighed, "This is not mine. It was given to me by a fairy when I was a kid. I was walking down the forest searching for those extinct Crystal Roses for my mother. Till I got lost. Then I met a woman...."

Flashback...

Angelus was scared. Finding a way back home. To the path he knew.

Wind was blowing, whistling that sounded like death.

Then Angelus heard footsteps from his back, walking slowly towards him.

He breathed heavily before turning around. Then he saw a woman. A beautiful one. She smiled warmly. Her hair was straight and black that shined together with the stars above. She was wearing a black long dress that covered her dirty feet. She had this emerald eyes as if magic was trapped in those. Long black fingernails. She was wearing a cape and was hiding something inside it.

Angelus was still scared but curious. He walked backwards slowly.

"Don't be afraid. I'm a fairy. Your fairy." she said.

Though she doesn't look like one, Angelus stopped and stared at her then spoke, "I'm lost."

"Is this what you're looking for?" She asked as she showed a bouquet of crystal roses to Angelus.

"H-how did you know?" He asked.

"Because I am your... Fairy." She said again.

Angelus took the flowers and smelled its fragrance. "Crystal Roses. Known for its dazzling look, its crystal petals, shining like the stars and diamonds." The fairy said. Angelus smiled, "Mom's gonna love this." He said as a tear fell from his eyes.

The fairy knelt one knee on the green grass and wiped his tear. She smiled and said, "Here. Take this." She took the book she was hiding behind her cape and handled it towards Angelus.

"Who are you? I'm asking for your name." asked the poor young Angelus.

"I want you to take care of this book." she replied, ignoring the question.

"I don't even know where it came from." He said.

"It's not about where it came from. It's about what it can tell you and where it can take you."

Angelus stared at the book before taking it. It had 'Journal' carved into its cover, made of a fine wood. "Is it your journal---" he stopped when the fairy was nowhere to be found.

There was a bronze button on its middle left side. Angelus pressed it gently. It glowed and opened. Angelus gaped. Its pages flipped then it showed a map. A small green dot was blinking to a specific part of the forest where it was surrounded by trees. Angelus was surrounded by trees. Angelus moved a few steps. The green dot moved at the same time. "Woah."

Then he spotted the castle where he lived on the map. He followed it till he found his way back home.

《Sierra》

"That was awesome." I said.

"So, this 'journal' is actually a map?" Sachiel asked as he took the Journal.

"No. It can do alot of things. It can tell you things. Things you can't expect. Things you wanna know. Things you don't know." Angelus answered.

"It can take you to the future?" Asked Sachiel as he flipped a page, "But it's empty.".

"Well, it can take you to the past as well." Angelus said.

"Take you to the past? Can we see Damm's past?--"

I stopped when the lights went off.

"What happened?" Sachiel asked.

"Power surge maybe." I replied sarcastically.

"Probably not. There hasn't been a power surge in this world. That doesn't happen in any wizarding world." Angelus said.

"Where's my wand, where did I put my wand? Where, Where--"

Sachiel stopped when we heard a scream. Then the lights turned back on.

"What was that?" I asked.

"I don't know." Angelus replied as we all ran outside.

"Let's stay here," Sachiel said. "We're safe here. We don't know what's outside."

"Let's go out." Angelus said as he opened the door and we ran out. Sachiel sighed and ran after us as well.
