CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

[ 2.7 | RESTRAINT ]

SCOTT AND STILES were not "dead" in the way the latter proclaimed, but the two boys turned out to be in a lot of trouble. Jackson had reported them to his lawyer father and the sheriff about how they held him in a stolen prison transport van out in the preserve. And while Scott and Stiles claimed that the entire situation had been a harmless prank, the two of them were still given a hefty restraining order by Jackson's father.

Daisy luckily avoided any repercussions from her involvement, as did Allison. The two girls were in the clear, which Daisy could not have been happier about. Her best friends escaped jail time by the seat of their pants and Jackson did not kill anyone during his escape. She considered that to be a win. A small win, but a win nonetheless.

When they arrived at school the next day, tensions had rose to a dangerous level. Victoria Argent continued to roam the halls with the added help of newly installed cameras to watch her daughter's every move. Gerard remained somewhat docile, but still on the lookout for anything werewolf related. The group had to extra cautious when they discussed any of their plans within the high school's walls.

Daisy found a note in her locker earlier that morning from Allison. The Argent girl wanted to meet in the library, a place where they could conceal their conversation, so they could discuss what she had learned from Lydia. The strawberry blonde knew Archaic Latin and helped translate what she could about the kanima. Details that Ms. Morrell, Allison's first translator, got wrong.

The library was mostly filled by the time Daisy entered to meet with her friends. She had successfully ignored both Erica and Isaac, again, which she knew would not last for long. Daisy made her way across the large room to the multiple book shelves where she found Scott and Stiles on one side and Allison on the other. She approached her two best friends when she watched Allison slip a yellow papered notebook through the spaces between the shelves.

"It's everything Lydia can translate." Daisy heard the Argent girl state when she appeared at Stiles side. "And trust me, she was very confused."

"Then what'd you tell her it was for?" The Fulton girl questioned.

"That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures." Allison said, a slight displeasure lined her voice.

Stiles looked at the girl in slight offense. "I am part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures."

Daisy nodded when she watched the brunette's expression morph into one of surprise. "Yeah, he sometimes makes me help him defeat a dragon or two."

Allison glanced between the two of them with slightly raised brows. "O-oh. Great." She forced a small smile onto her lips.

"Okay, does it say how to find out who's controlling him?" Scott questioned, scanning the words before him. Not actually reading them.

"Not really." Allison voiced. "But Stiles was right about the murderers."

The Stilinski boy raised his fist in triumph. "Yes!"

"It calls the kanima a weapon of vengeance. There's a story in there about this South American priest who uses the kanima to execute murderers in his village..."

Stiles interrupted Allison's recount. "Alright, see? So maybe it's not all that bad."

"Until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to."

Daisy glanced toward Stiles with a quirked brow. "Do you always have to jinx us?"

Stiles eyes widened. "Okay, so all bad. All very, very bad."

"Here's the thing, though." Allison continued. "The kanima's actually supposed to be a werewolf. But it can't be..."

""Until it resolves that in its past which manifested it."" Scott read from the notebook in his hands.

"Okay, if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself." Stiles stated with a huff.

"What if –it has something to do with his parents? His real parents." Allison inquired.

Daisy remembered that Jackson had been adopted when he was a baby. No one knew much about his biological parents. No one really had the guts to ask about them either.

"Yeah, does anybody actually know what happened to them?" Scott questioned, glancing around at his friends.

"Lydia probably does." Daisy voiced with a shrug. "I mean, she did date him for like –five years."

"What if she doesn't know anything?" Scott asked the blonde.

"Well, he doesn't have a restraining order against me or Daisy, so –we'll talk to him." Allison proposed, looking toward the girl across from her.

The Fulton girl nodded in answer.

Scott shifted his gaze between them, before he settled on his secret girlfriend. "Okay, what do I do?"

"You have a make-up exam, remember?"

"Promise me." Scott spoke. "If he does anything, you run the other way." He then looked toward his female best friend. "Both of you."

"I can take care of myself." Allison stated in a determined manner. "And so can Daisy, right?" She questioned the blonde.

Daisy gave the Argent girl a large grin. "Absolutely."

"Allison, if you or Daisy gets hurt while I'm busy with some stupide test, someone's going to need to take care of me." Scott exclaimed with a narrowed gaze. "If he does anything..."

     "Like?" Allison quirked a brow.

     "Anything –weird or bizarre –anything."

"Anything evil!" Stiles shoved his head through the gap in the book shelf to face Allison. The Argent girl simply raised her hand and placed it on his face, before she pushed him roughly away from her. "Ah –ow!"

Daisy failed to hold in the laugh that slipped through her lips when Stiles fumbled with the book in his hands.

     _______

Daisy and Allison travelled down the hallway to the boy's locker room. The two girls learned that Jackson might be there after lacrosse practice. They only needed to get the Whittemore boy to answer a few questions, but that in itself could be incredibly difficult.

At some point during their walk, Allison stopped to rip her heels off her feet and proceeded to carry them at her side. Daisy would have done the same, but her booties were quite comfortable. And the dingy linoleum did not look the least bit sanitary. She was not risking a staph infection to relieve herself of slightly squished toes.

The two girls were about to head down the hallway that lead to the locker room when a large figure intercepted their path. Daisy resisted the urge to groan at the sight of Isaac stood before her. "What are you doing here?" She questioned when he continued to stand in their way.

"I think I should be asking you the same thing." Isaac voiced, before he glanced at the brunette at Daisy's side. "Allison."

The Argent girl glared at the werewolf. "You know I always have a crossbow with me, right?"

A small amused grin appeared on Isaac's lips. "Noted." He then shifted his gaze to the annoyed blonde. "I need to talk to you."

Daisy scoffed. "Why would you need to talk to me?" She questioned, crossing her arms over her black shirt.

Isaac exhaled deeply, but forced his facial expression to soften. "Daisy." He seemed to plead with the Fulton girl.

Daisy was taken aback by the boy's sudden change in demeanor. She looked to her side at Allison, who appeared to be just as perplexed. Daisy sighed heavily, and turned to face the Lahey boy. "Fine. You have ten minutes." She then shifted back to Allison. "Can you do this without me?"

The Argent girl nodded. "Yeah. I'll be fine." She made a move to step around the teenage werewolf and gave him a pointed stare. "Touch her, and you'll find an arrow in your chest." She exclaimed, before she continued on her way toward the boy's locker room.

When Allison disappeared around the corner, Daisy raised a single brow in a questioning manner. "What do you want? You're preventing me from an important conversation."

"Let me guess, you were gonna ask Jackson about his birth parents. Am I right?" Isaac quipped.

Daisy tried to keep the surprise from her face, but her next words gave her away. "Wha –I have no idea what you're talking about."

The Lahey boy rolled his eyes. "I know that you, Scott, and Stiles are asking around about Jackson."

"And yet you don't know why." Daisy spoke, narrowing her gaze toward the werewolf. "So what is this? You trying to get information out of me. News flash. I'm not giving you any." She spun on her heel to exit the hallway, while Isaac followed after her.

"You know, we're on the same side." The Lahey boy exclaimed, matching her quickened stride. "You and Scott want the kanima dead. Derek wants the kanima dead. So, why don't we help each other out?"

Daisy shook her head. "The problem with that is –we don't want the kanima dead. We just want it contained so it can't kill anyone else." Isaac hummed in retort, which prompted the girl to say, "But I'm getting a sense that you don't really care."

"I don't." Isaac stated, turning to face the girl and bring the two of them to a halt in the hallway. "Derek is spending so much time to catch the kanima that he doesn't care about the upcoming full moon. I know nothing about how to control myself, not that Derek's concerned." He scoffed in pure annoyance.

Daisy brows furrowed. "He hasn't been teaching you? Like –anything?"

Isaac shook his head. "Nothing. So I guess that means we're on our own, while Derek's on his own against the kanima."

The Fulton girl could not help but feel sorry for him. Daisy knew how hard it was for Scott in the beginning. The rampant mood swings and sudden urges to kill and maim. She would never forget the time he almost slashed her and Stiles to bits in the boy's locker room. And as much as she wanted to forget, Isaac would have gone through the same. In fact, he did do the same.

Daisy thought back to all the interaction she had with Isaac since he received the bite, and he did exhibit similar tendencies. And with Derek as an Alpha, it would have been hard for Isaac to do anything to sway the influence the man had on him. Maybe Daisy had been a little too harsh.

Before she could open her mouth to say anything, a loud commotion sounded in the direction of the boy's locker room. Daisy's eyes widened as she turned to see if Allison were alright. Jackson could have done something to her in the amount of time she took to talk to Isaac. Daisy went to head down the hallway toward the room when the Lahey boy took hold of her arm and held her back.

"What are you do...?" Daisy began to question, until Isaac lifted a finger to hold against his lips.

Isaac stepped around the blonde to rest at a corner that led to the connected hallway. He peered around the wall, but kept his body from view.

Daisy followed his lead and looked around his back. She found a large group of teenagers were crowded in front of the boy's locker room door. Mr. Harris stood before them with an agitated expression. He shouted something toward them, but Daisy could not hear from such a distance.

"What's he saying?" The Fulton girl questioned lowly.

Isaac listened to the man for another moment, before he moved away from the wall and cause Daisy to stumble back. "Harris gave them all detention at three."

Daisy's eyes widened slightly in amusement. "All of them?" She looked back around the corner and recognized her two best friends and Allison among the group. "Ooh, that should be fun."

"Oh, yeah." Isaac chuckled and then shifted his gaze toward the blonde next to him. His expression softened as a sigh escaped his lips. "Look, Daisy..." He spoke, gaining her attention. "I'm –sorry about the other night."

"You mean the night you tried to kill Lydia?" Daisy inquired with a quirked brow.

"Uh, yeah –that one." He muttered, lifting a hand to rub the side of his neck. "I shouldn't have..."

Daisy did not let him continue as she held up a hand to halt his words. "I'm not saying that it was okay, but –I get why you did it." She dropped her hand back to her side and sighed. "Scott wasn't exactly a model for teenage werewolves, and he didn't have an Alpha like Derek. So, I can't really blame you." She voiced, before a small grin appeared on her lips. "Much."

Isaac shook his head with a light laugh. "Okay, I deserved that."

"Yes, you did." Daisy nodded, and then turned on her heel to leave. But after a moment, she glanced over her shoulder to look at Isaac. "You coming or what?"

     "Coming?" Isaac questioned in confusion.

Daisy simply smiled. "I'm gonna help you with your full moon issue." She stated, spinning on her booted heel and strides down the hallway in the direction of the school's exit.

The Lahey boy stared after her, before he kicked off the linoleum and followed her.

     _______

The two teenagers stood across from each other in the Fultons' backyard. Daisy figured that the two of them needed a change of scenery. Between the school and the preserve, all they saw on a daily basis for the last few weeks had been dull walls and evergreen trees. And although the yard certainly had the latter, Daisy thought it would be a good of place as any.

The blonde slipped a light grey hoodie over her torso to keep out to night chill. Lights that hung on the back of the home illuminated the fenced in space, which allowed Daisy to see around her. Isaac had the advantage of his werewolf vision, so he did not need them.

"Alright, so let's start with the basics." Daisy voiced, rubbing her hands together for emphasize and to warm her cold palms.

Isaac's eyes narrows. "Werewolf basics? Because I'm pretty sure I've already learned about those." He lifted his hand a flicked out to release his grotesque claws.

The Fulton girl gave him a flat look. "Show off. And I didn't mean those basics, I meant full moon basics. Coping mechanisms to help."

Isaac shifted his claws back into nails as he continued to look at her with a perplexed expression. "You're trying to tell me that know who to cope with the full moon? You're human."

"I might be human, but I do have a werewolf best friend." Daisy quipped, smiling toward the boy. "Now, we're not going to try the "Stiles method", but the premise will work just fine." Isaac opened his mouth to speak, before Daisy shook her head. "Don't ask. It's better you don't know."

"Okay? That only makes me want to ask more." He stated.

Daisy pursed her lips, until a thought entered her mind. "Alright. I'll make you a deal. You make it through a successful full moon without killing anyone and I'll tell you." She offered.

     Isaac raised a brow. "Really?"

Daisy nodded. "But only if you make it through." She then changed the subject. "When it comes to the full moon, Scott's says it's all about suppression. Holding back on your urges. To do that, you have to focus on one single person, purpose, or emotion to reign yourself back in." She lowered her voice and leaned forward. "Don't tell Scott I told you this, but –his anchor is Allison."

Isaac completely by passed the mention of the Argent girl. "Anchor?"

"Oh –yeah." Daisy continued. "Derek called it that when he was helping Scott. It's not really not that complicated, just very difficult to find and control."

"Right." The Lahey boy stared blankly at her. "How am I supposed to do that?"

Daisy shrugged. "I don't know. Like I said, Scott used the "Stiles method" and I don't think you'd like that very much."

Isaac rolled his eyes. "You're so helpful." He voiced in a sarcastic manner.

"I try." The Fulton girl smiled toward him, before her phone began to ring loudly in the pocket of her hoodie. She released a long sigh and pulled out the blue encased device. "Hello?" Daisy lifted the speaker to her ear, after she swiped her thumb across the screen. The first words that escaped from Stiles and through the call formed a knot of dread in Daisy's stomach.

     "We have a problem."

<May 27, 2018>

I actually kind of like this chapter. Which is odd, I never like my own writing.

Anyway, my OTP is on the rise!! I don't think I have a ship name for them yet. I really need one.

Don't forget to vote and comment.
