CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
[ 2.9 | PARTY GUESSED ]
THE REST OF THE night spiraled after Jackson escaped from his ketamine induced partial slumber. Daisy and Stiles fled the rave and found Derek outside, claiming that Scott was in trouble, and the Alpha happened to be right. Scott revealed the next morning that Victoria Argent, Allison's mother, tried to kill him with airborne wolfsbane. She broke the Argent's code of hunting and received a bite from Derek in the process.
Daisy could not say that the women deserved it. Despite all the horrible things she did, or tried to do, she was still Allison's mother and a human being. Daisy would never wish harm to someone. And when it came to Victoria, she knew that the woman would end up with more than just a werewolf bite whether she liked it or not.
The next day, Daisy sat her next with her laptop sat in front of her. She worked on a paper for her AP English class on the history of poetry. As much as she did not like the subject, or how much she wanted to just binge watch the Harry Potter movies, she needed to get the paper done before her Spring Break ended.
Daisy jumped in her seat when her bedroom door burst open. Lydia stood in the doorway with bulging Macy's shopping bags held in her hands. She strode into her room and tossed the bags onto her bed.
"Is there a reason you did not show up at Allison's like I asked?" Lydia questioned the blonde girl in front of her with her hands set on her hips.
Daisy sighed and spun in her chair to face the angry birthday girl. "I'm sorry, Lydia, but I told you I couldn't go to Allison's."
"And why on earth not? Are you two fighting? Because if so, I..."
Daisy interrupted her. "It's not that. Allison and I are fine." She pressed her lips together. "It's, uh –it's her parents. They don't like me."
Lydia stared at the Fulton girl in disbelief. "What? That's not true at all. No one can hate you, you're sweet as honey and pure goodness."
Daisy laughed and gave her friend an appreciative smile. "It's complicated. But it doesn't matter. Show me what you got."
A beaming smile spread across the Martin girl's lips as she spun toward the bed where she tossed her bags.
_______
When Lydia left with her copious amount of clothing, Daisy continued to sit at her desk for a long while. The birthday party did not start until ten that night, so she had time to wonder in her own thoughts for a bit. She tried to keep anything that had to do with the kanima from her mind, but that became difficult since that seemed to be what encompassed her life the most in recent days.
But her thoughts were consumed by another supernatural creature, one she tried not to think about. Daisy could not help when she began to wonder about Isaac. She knew that she should not think of him, but months of friendship could not be washed away with a few months of werewolf drama. Isaac just wanted a new life, one without his father's abuse, she could not blame him for that.
Unfortunately, for Daisy and for Isaac, the boy had his second full moon that night. He would have to confine himself to make sure he did not kill anyone or even hurt himself. She was worried about him. If that night happened to be anything like his first, Derek would be in for one hell of a fight, especially now that there were a total of three Betas, two enduring their first full moon.
Daisy texted him, reminding him that he needed to find an anchor. A person or feeling that would suppress his murderous urges. It was not much, but that was all she could do to help him without being there with him.
Later that night, Allison showed up at Daisy's home to carpool to Lydia's party. The Fulton girl slipped on the multi-colored dress the strawberry blonde picked out for her and a pair of dark wedges, before she and Allison ventured over to the home. They were both concerned that the party would be a total flop with no one showing up because of Lydia's strange behavior earlier in the year. Daisy just hoped that it was not a completely terrible experience.
Allison parked her car down the street from the Martin residence, which lacked the multitude of cars that usually accompanied one of Lydia's parties. Daisy reached up to tight where her hair was pulled into a half-up style. The two girls walked toward the house and braced themselves for what lied ahead.
Daisy took a deep breath, ignoring the few people that yelled and rush into the large home in front of her. She exchanged a look with Allison and muttered, "For Lydia."
The girl at her side did the same. "For Lydia."
_______
Daisy departed from Allison to look for Scott and Stiles. The former couple were not speaking to each other, after Scott yelled at his girlfriend at the rave. Daisy understood why he was pissed, and to be honest, she was pissed, too. Allison told her father and grandfather everything. Who the kanima was, where he would be, and that the werewolves were after him.
Daisy did not want to confront the girl about it. She knew that Allison was scared, they all were, but they were handling it the best they could. They wanted to save Jackson, and the Argents wanted him dead. Allison must not have remembered that detail.
When the Fulton girl found her best friends, she approached them and overheard Stiles ask about Jackson. Daisy had not seen him yet, and she doubted that he would even show up. The kanima, on the other hand, she was not so sure.
"No. Seen Allison?" Scott questioned when Daisy approached.
"I kind of ditched her next to where Lydia set up for snacks and stuff. She's supposed to be getting up something to drink." Daisy told him.
"We should probably tell her what we found." Stiles voiced from next to his two friends.
Scott gave the Stilinski boy a perplexed look. "I'm still kind of not sure what we found."
"I figured out it has something to do with water." Stiles stated. "You know, the fact that all the victims were on the swim team, the way the kanima reacted around the pool."
"So whoever's controlling the kanima really hates the swim team?" Scott asked, still not sure about the information.
Daisy sighed. "Or the person also hates water."
"Hated the swim team and water." Stiles said. "Specifically, the 2006 swim team. So it could be another teacher. Maybe, like, a student back then. I mean, who are we missing though? What haven't we thought of?"
Before either of his friends could speak, Allison approached them with two glasses of pink tinted punch in hand. "Uh, Jackson's not here." She told them, handing one of the drinks to Daisy.
The Fulton girl gave her a nod of thanks and took a sip of the beverage. Incredibly sweet and strong.
"Yeah, no one's here." Stiles stated, glancing around at the nearly vacant backyard.
Scott shrugged. "Maybe it's just early."
"Or maybe nobody's coming because Lydia's turned into the town whackjob." Stiles exclaimed.
Daisy winced in guilt. "Which is partly our fault."
Allison nodded, approving of the blonde's words. "Well, we have to do something, because we've completely ignored her for the past two weeks."
Scott scoffed. "She's completely ignored Stiles the past ten years."
As much as Daisy hated to agree, Lydia had not been the kindest person to them in the past. In recent times, yes, she had become a good friend to them all, but that did not erase how rude and hostile she had been since junior high. It took time for Daisy to come to trust the Martin girl, and she did not want to be part of the reason why she had a horrible birthday.
"I prefer to think of it as me not having been on her radar yet." Stiles voiced in a defensive manner.
Scott turned to Allison and said, "We don't owe her a party."
"What about the chance to get back to normal?" Allison questioned not just Scott, but all three of the friends around her.
Scott's brows furrowed. "Normal?"
"Daisy is right. She wouldn't be the town whackjob if it wasn't for us."
Scott sighed. "I guess I could use my co-captain status to get the lacrosse team here."
Daisy simply shrugged. "I don't really know anyone that not already here."
"Well, I know some people who can get this thing going." Stiles released a huff. "Like, really going."
Daisy turned to her best friend in complete confusion. "Who?"
Stiles grinned. "I met them the other night. Let's just say they know how to party."
_______
After Scott and Stiles sent invitations out for Lydia's party, the entire Martin residence was crawling with dozens of teenagers ready for a good time. Daisy hardly knew any of them, only seen them before in passing, and some she had never even met. In the chaos, she somehow lost sight of her friends. She looked around for them after she finished her second glass of punch, but she found no sight of them.
Daisy made her way through the long hallways of Lydia's house when her vision began to blur. She thought nothing of it at first, thinking that it had been the drinks, even though she did not have much. She continued down the narrow space, until a figure intercepted her path. Daisy stopped short when her mother stood in front of her. Her brows furrowed, knowing that Lindsay had to work the night shift.
"Mom?" Daisy inquired in complete confusion. "What're you doing here?"
"You killed him, Daisy." Lindsay Fulton said near monotone. "You killed your father."
Daisy's heart stilled in her chest at her mother's words. "Wha-what?"
"He's dead because of you. If you hadn't needed diapers, your crying newborn self who never stayed quiet for more than a few hours, then he would have been here with us. With me." Lindsay sneered toward her daughter. "You killed your own father!"
Daisy stumbled away from her mother, tears brimming her eyes. She knew how her father died. Lindsay told her when she had become old enough to understand. He had gotten into a car crash late one night when she was no more than a couple months old. A tractor-trailer failed to stop at a stoplight and careened into his truck. He died instantly.
Daisy could hear her heart pound in her ears. Her tears building, before they fell down her cheeks. She mother was right. It was her fault.
"You killed him! You killed my husband!"
Daisy backed away as her mother stalked closer to her. She pressed herself against the wall, trying to get as far away as she could from the woman. She closed her eyes, trying to calm her now erratic breathing.
No, her mother was not there. Lindsay was at the hospital, working alongside Melissa McCall. She was not at Lydia's party. She did not stand in front of Daisy.
The Fulton girl kept her eyes squeezed shut, even when the sound of her mother's voice faded into nothing. Daisy stayed pressed against the wall and refused to move, knowing that her legs would give out from under her.
"Daisy? Daisy!" Someone called out to her.
Daisy slowly pried her eyes open to find a blurry figure in front of her. She blinked several times, until the person came into view clear as day. Scott stood in the hallway, his brows pulled together in worry. Daisy released a long sigh of relief and launched herself into her best friend's arms.
"Oh, thank God." She breathed, pulling away to face the McCall boy. "What the hell is going on? I –I saw my mom, and –and she..."
Scott shook his head and set his hands on her shoulders. "It doesn't matter, okay? It wasn't real? It was the drink. Lydia spiked it with wolfsbane."
Daisy's confusion only deepened. "What? Why would she do that?"
Scott dropped his arms. "I don't know, but we have to find her." He reached down a gripped her hand, pulling her after him and through the drunken, and poisoned, teenagers around them.
_______
Everyone seemed to be seeing things, just like Daisy. They swatted at the air, some cried and wailed, while others shouted and screamed at nothing but the air. She and Scott proceeded to look for Lydia, but also Stiles. They had no idea what would happened to him, considering he also drank the spiked punch.
Daisy scanned the backyard, until she saw a familiar person sat onto the ground leaned against a column that held up the awning over them. She pointed him out to Scott and slipped her hand from his to crouch at the Stilinski boy's side. Stiles looked to be in some sort of daze, most likely a hallucination from the drink.
"Stiles, hey. Stiles." Daisy tried to gain his attention, but he continued to stare off into nothing.
Scott dropped down behind her and raised his hands to grab his friend's face with a bottle water in hand. "Stiles, look at me. Drink the water. Stiles, drink it." He lifted the bottle in front of the Stilinski boy, but he showed no reaction. "Something's happening, and I need you to sober up right now." Scott reached out to shake him. "Come on, Stiles."
"What do you think you're doing?" A tall dark haired girl questioned when she approached them. "You want to sober him up fast, that's not the way to do it."
Daisy looked up at her and asked, "What else do you supposed we do?"
The girl kneeled next to them. "Well, you can do this." She grabbed ahold of Stiles shoulder and dunked his head into the pool beside him. He gurgled for a second, before he rose up and coughed out the water that trailed down his head. "How do you fee?"
Stiles sputtered and glared toward the girl. "Like I might have to revisit my policy on hitting a girl."
The dark haired girl nodded, standing back to her feet. "He's sober."
_______
Once Stiles was back to himself, Daisy and her two best friends tried to find Lydia. They needed to know why she spiked the punch, why she poisoned her entire party, but the Martin girl was nowhere to be found. Daisy searched the house and the front yard, but she did not see Lydia or even Allison. Both girls vanished into thin air.
Daisy met back up with Scott and Stiles by the pool to learn if any of them had found the strawberry blonde. When they came up with nothing, the three of them did not know what else to do. Everyone's behavior seemed to grow worse as the night continued on, the punch taking a larger effect the more they drank.
"Hey, I can't find her. And, guys, anyone who drank that crap, they're freaking out." Stiles exclaimed over the noise that filled the air.
Scott scanned the party and nodded. "I can see that."
Daisy watched people scream and cry and even laugh at literally nothing in front of them. "What do we do now?"
Scott shook his head. "I don't know, but we gotta..."
"I can't swim! No, no, no, no, stop, guys!" Someone shouted over the entire party in complete and utter panic. "I can't swim! I can't swim! I can't –I can't..."
Daisy turned just in time to watch a group of popular boys toss someone into the pool. Everyone ignored his pleas for help as he thrashed in the water, trying to hold himself above the waves. Daisy watched in horror when the boy began to sink, until someone rushed through the yard and dove into the pool after him. The person's savior pulled him over to the edge of the pool and climbed out onto the tiled surface. Daisy was shocked when Jackson stood next to a waterlogged and extremely angered Matt.
"What're you looking at?" Matt sneered at the people around him that simply stared in his direction. He strode forward to enter the home and glared heatedly toward the trio of friends, particularly Scott.
Daisy watched the soaking wet boy with furrowed brows as he made his way through the home. She turned back to Scott and Stiles to exchange a look between them.
Sirens filled the air and grew louder with each passing second. "The cops are her. Party's over!" Someone screamed over the crowd, causing everyone to scramble for the exits.
Daisy grabbed ahold of Stiles loose jacket to make sure she stayed next to the boys, and to make sure she was not trampled in the stampede of teenagers. She followed her best friends over to the gate that led to the front yard to leave, until they all were halted mid-step by the sight in front of them. Daisy's eyes widened when she saw Matt in the center of the lawn, but that was not what shocked her. At the boy's feet, a fully transformed kanima with glowing yellow eyes circled around his feet.
Stiles had been right about Matt the entire time. The strange teenage boy controlled the murderous supernatural creature. Matt was the kanima's master.

Oh, my poor Daisy. Ugh, I hate hurting my baby.
Only a few more chapters left in this book before I move on to another. I just really don't like having more than like thirty or so chapters in a book. I don't know why, maybe I'm just weird that way.
Don't forget to vote and comment.
