Smile - Short Story
Smile - Short Story (3/???)
Song: Butterfly by BTS
"And that's my life story."
"No wonder James called and told me you didn't smile anymore."
"You still keep in touch with James? Wait- are you that guy that always calls and no one else is allowed to answer the phone unless James will throw a fit and scream and cry?"
"That's me," Taehyung giggled.
His giggled sounded familiar.
"That child adores you, just to let you know."
"He always has."
"Inflating your ego there, mister TaeTae?"
"But of course miss (nickname). It's what I do."
The two of us laughed, a smile on my lips.
"Hey look, I made you smile."
He poked my cheek and smiled at me, his box smile making mine wider.
"It hurts. I haven't smiled in a long time."
"I bet. Now, I will make it my mission to make you smile at least once a day."
"I don't think it will be that hard."
"I missed you."
"I'd miss me too."
~
"Taehyung!" James cheered, wrapping his arms around the older' legs.
It's been two weeks since I had reunited with Taehyung.
I was starting to slowly remember him.
And
Fall for him
All over again.
"Hey there! I missed you!"
Taehyung picked James up and twirled him around, James squealing in delight.
I smiled at the two before putting my backpack down and making my way into the living room.
"Where is mom, James?"
"Momma left."
"Is dad here?"
"Upstairs in his office."
"I'll be right back."
I walked up the stairs and to my father's office.
I knocked twice on the door and he told me to come in.
"Dad?"
"Hey sweetie, you're home pretty late."
"Taehyung and I got detention again."
"Why?"
"I fell asleep and he kept throwing paper at me while I slept."
"Is this the same Taehyung from years ago?"
Dad ran a hand through his hair as he asked, turning his chair a little.
"Yes, it is."
"Let's go see him then!"
I nodded and we both went downstairs.
~
"Thank you for coming over, Taehyung."
"Of course sweetheart, anything for you."
I smiled brightly at him.
"How many smiles is that today?"
"I lost count."
"So did I."
We looked at each other a moment longer.
"You know, that marriage thing doesn't sound half bad..." I trailed off, seeing the smile on his face widen.
"You think?"
"But maybe we should start slow."
"Of course. Best friends for now?"
"Best friends for now."
