When Phillip waltzed into Ewa's life she had thought he would stay forever. He said he would. She fell hard, fast and deep in love with him, now that she thought of it she never really knew if he loved her too. He said he did but did he? She was young, lonely and naive enough to be blinded by love.

She thought that for the first time, someone actually noticed her and liked her too, hence when he asked her to be his girlfriend, she said yes without thinking twice. She had been lacking love from the male species and thought to herself that this was the one. Finally.

Phillip seemed to stay true to his words at first because he acted his part well. They went out every weekend, he checked up on her every now and then, he told her sweet things all the time and they made love. What more could she have asked for she thought to herself. Her mum had warned her countless times because she never trusted him but she thought she was just being overly strict. Once Ewa got pregnant with their baby and told Phillip about it, it was like he disappeared off of the surface of the earth. She called, she went everywhere that she thought he could go or be but she never saw him. He jilted her. So when Phillip called the day before she knew he was back for something but this time he wasn't going to take anything from her. It had been 6 years since she got pregnant for him and all of a sudden he wanted to come back into her life? It wasn't going to work that way.

He left her to go through everything on her own and it really hurt. Now she knew he would try to call her again but she knew better this time and she wouldn't let him in her life the second time.

The beeping of the landline on her desk interrupted her train of thoughts. "Mrs Ewa, your patient is here. Can he come in now?" The receptionist asked. "Yes he can"

"Good day Mr Demola, please have your seat" She said as soon as he entered the office. She tried to put a smile on her face while she said it and she could only hope it was good enough. "Good day Miss Ewa" He replied. "How are you doing today" Ewa asked. "I really don't know, saying I'm fine might be a lie and we shouldn't lie to our therapists right?" He replied."Yes, you shouldn't" She replied with a smile on her face, this time it was a real one.

"So what's bothering you today if I may ask" She asked. "It's work related" He replied. "You can talk about it if you want to" She replied as she studied his features closely for the first time. Overall he was an attractive man but that wasn't why they were here she thought to herself. "That's not why I'm here" He replied creasing his brows."So why are you here?" "I told you already" He replied.

"I know but you can say it again" I replied. "The death of my brother has been hard on me, is that what you want to hear? Are you all this annoying?" He replied. "That's exactly what I wanted to hear, Mr Demola". "Now I'm not going to force you or rush you to say just how your brother's death has affected you but you'll have to talk about it one of these days. I know he'll want you to find peace." "You know nothing about my brother" He replied with a glare. At least there was anger now. She sighed and kept quiet. She didn't speak again for a long time.

"What do you want to talk about today Mr Demola?" She asked bringing a chair closer to where he was seated. "You can call me Demola" He said after sometime. "Okay then" She replied with a small laugh. "What's funny?" He asked. "Do you really just want to talk about dropping formalities?" She asked. He smiled a little.

"You can actually talk to me about anything. We don't need to talk about your brother today or soon. Okay let's start with what your ate this morning" She said. "Really? What I ate this morning?" He replied with a snicker. "Yeah or haven't you eaten today?" She asked with a small smile. "I did eat this morning. It was cornflakes" He replied looking a little embarrassed. "Are you actually serious? You still eat cornflakes? Are you 10?" She asked him laughing. He laughed too. "What, I just really like it" He answered. "Okay I guess it's fine but you're probably secretly 10" "Okay you're just exaggerating this" He replied. They went on and on about what his day was like until their timing came to an end.

"Hello Miss Ewa, someone is here to see you" The receptionist said. "Does the person at least have a name?" She asked rubbing her temples. "He said his name is Phillip Obiagu. Can I send him in?" The receptionist said. Ewa froze and felt her heart beat increase. "No do not let him past the reception. If he tries to move call the security" "Okay ma". Ewa ran straight to the elevator pressing the ground floor button multiple times until it closed.

Once she got to the reception she searched frantically until she laid her eyes on him. Phillip. He was real. He looked older. He had started keeping his beards. She shook her head, forcing herself to concentrate on kicking him out. He started to walk towards her but she started walking out of the office building gesturing for him to follow her.

"What do you think you are doing coming to look for me in my office? Who told you I worked here? What is your problem? What do you want from me again this time?" She asked trying to keep her voice low. She made sure she wasn't looking at his face, there was no way she would get drawn in again she thought to herself. "Ewa would you at least look at me?" He asked. He really knew how to play his cards. "Really Phillip? You disappear for 6 years right after I told you I was pregnant and you want me to look at you? You didn't think about abandoning me twice and you are telling me to look at you?" She replied him. Her voice had failed her this time, she was overwhelmed by her emotions.

"I know Ewa. I was really wrong for leaving you but we were young and I wasn't ready for that kind of responsibility and I knew you weren't going to abort it" He replied. She laughed but there wasn't an iota of humour in it. "So abandoning me was the next best option? You made me take two years off school, Phillip. You almost ruined my life. You kept lying to me while we were together, saying sweet nothings but now I get it. You really just wanted to sleep with me and I gave myself up because I was young and stupid enough to believe your dirty lies" "And I'm sincerely sorry Ewa. I'm sorry you had to go through that but I want you to know I wasn't lying throughout the relationship Ewa. All I ever said was the truth. Believe me. What about the child Ewa? Would you at least let me see the child?" He said.

Ewa knew that if she kept listening to him he'll have his way with her again. He had always been good with words. "Phillip leave this place before I call the security on you" She said after sometime of deliberation. She started to walk away from him but she felt his hands around her wrist. She yanked her hand away from his grip. "If you ever touch me again, you won't believe what will come next. Get out of this vicinity now. I don't ever want to see you around me again" With that, she walked back briskly.

She couldn't be manipulated again, not this  time. She wasn't going to let him twist her thoughts and she wasn't going to forget just what she faced because of him.
