Amethyst was waiting impatiently by the warp pad, tapping her fingers against her skin. She was about to take Pearl on a picnic in the flower fields. Garnet and Steven went out to have a day for themselves, so Amethyst and Pearl had free time. 

"She should be here by now..What's taking so long?" Amethyst wondered, frantically looking about the temple. 

"I'm here!" Pearl exclaimed as she exited her room with the picnic basket. Amethyst stopped leaning and smiled gently at the tall gem. Pearl awkwardly smiled back and she walked over to the warp pad.

"What took so long?"

"I was getting the blanket for us to sit in the Fields on."

"That makes sense. Coming from you that is."

Pearl and Amethyst hopped onto the shimmering warp pad, and traveled to the fields. 

"This place is even more beautiful then the first time we came!" Pearl said joyfully, as she began setting up the picnic. Amethyst blushed a little, then went over to help her. Pearl pulled out the blanket and flattened it down against the soft flowers. 

"It's so nice here, I could just..." Amethyst flopped onto the blanket, making the flowers sway from side to side. Pearl giggled, and sat next to her. "You know?"

"I do. Its quite peaceful here indeed." Pearl replied, staring off into the distance.

Amethyst grabbed the basket from the other side of the blanket, and pulled it towards her and Pearl. Pearl continued to stare into the distance, smiling and sighing. 

"Hey P! What are you doing? Are you okay?" Amethyst asked, obviously annoyed by Pearls actions. "Just looking at the flowers..." Pearl said as she plucked one of the flowers closest to her. "Well, if you want the food, better get it fast!" Amethyst exclaimed as she ate a turkey sandwich. 

"I don't eat food, i just brought this for you." Pearl replied, not looking at Amethyst. Amethyst was, once again, a little bit annoyed. This picnic was supposed to be for the two of them, not just for Amethyst! 

"Would you at least try this for me?" Amethyst asked, holding a pack of crackers in her left hand. Pearl turned to look at what she was holding. She questioned whether she should or not, then said yes. "Only one bite!" She declared. Amethyst smiled as she took a bite out of the cracker. 

Pearl spat it out "Disgusting!" She screamed, trying to get the flavor out of her mouth. Amethyst rolled  on the blanket, laughing and smiling. Pearl stopped for a moment at looked at Amethyst laughing. She saw her hair flying in her face as Amethyst continued to laugh. Pearl softly smiled, and began laughing with Amethyst. 

It seemed to both of them, like a friendship was beginning to bloom.
