Epilogue
A Few Years Into The Future...
I sat on the ledge of my balcony as I stared at the moon. Everyone else was asleep at this time or out. A slight breeze was felt behind me. I knew exactly who it was without turning around. "I know it is you," I said with a little chuckle.
Someone sat next to me, gently taking my hand in theirs. "Lei è stato qui tutto il giorno, non è vero?" (You've been out here all day, right ?) How can someone be so sweet, but so annoying all at once ?
I faced him as the glow for the moonlight only made the night more beautiful from where we sat. "Sunghoon, you know I've been tired. I just wanted a bit of space..."
Our bond was exhausting for me. Feeding four moroi & three dhampirs my blood was not as easy to do as a daily meal plan. I never answered Sunghoon' question he asked a while ago. It just seemed selfish if I disregard the bond & chose to be his dhampir.
He knew what I was thinking, given he gave my hand a small comforting squeeze. "Non è sconvolto che io abbia tecnicamente respinto la sua richiesta?" (You aren't upset that I technically rejected you ?), I asked completely in my head about this. He smirked, as he responded. "I have no issue in waiting for you, Haeun. I know this isn't easy on you..."
He really had come around from when we first met... I think the golden purified bond helped with that immensely. It was probably noticeable to the others, but they never said anything.
We still lived within the dominion after we elected a Queen that was very progressive in moroi-dhampir families as well as dynamics. So the eight of us living together wasn't much of an issue. It was no question that we still hid our bond given the rarity of it... So far my father was the only one aware the eight of us even had the bond.
"I can't ask that of you, Sunghoon. Besides the bond we all share can be platonic. You don't have to wait for me," I said as I avoided eye contact this time. It was like our eyes did this intense dance. He'd pull, where I'd push. I'd push, making him pull. It was intoxicating & absolute agony because I still felt we were being selfish... Abusing our bond...
Sunghoon looked at the sky with me once more. A few bats crossing our view of the moon, "La attenderò per tutta la vita, Haeun. Non cambierà..." (I'd wait lifetimes for you, Haeun. That isn't going to change...)
Things went silent once more as we continued looking at the moon in a comfortable quietness.
Our bond was truly bloody special...
The END.
La fine.
