━━━ vii. on my death bed.

chapter seven.

"MOM! MOM, HELP!" SCOTT'S trembled shouts caught the attention of his mother at the desk bursting through the hospital doors. Isaac's grip on Arthur's wrist tightening listening to the rapid patter of his heartbeat, the only thing stopping him from shifting and losing control, blood leaking through his thin t-shirt onto his palm. Melissa ambled to their side, her fingers almost slipped from Arthur's clammy face when she lifted it. "Mom, he's loosing a lot of blood!"

"Follow me." Melissa leads them into the hall, grabbing the closet stretcher. Arthur whimpered with each step, his body weighing him like an anchor with each step. He couldn't feel anything, he tried to remember what he read about but his mind came up blank. "Lay him here."

His head spins as he feels them let go, it was like he was falling down a dark hole alone his side feels like pines and needles. He winced, "It hurts."

"I know it hurts, but you have to stay awake." Isaac pleaded, taking hold of his hand he tried to take his pain but nothing came. "It's that normal, I can't ━ why can't I take his pain?"

"He's lot too much blood so his body is turning numb it'll be bad when he starts turning blue." Melissa reassured, snipping open the boy's t-shirt. "I've paged a doctor, but until then I'll clean the wound. Does anyone mind tell me what happened?"

"Derek." Arthur breathed out, his grip of Isaac's hand weakening as his eyes flutter close and the feeling of falling returns. Opening them, he spots Melissa's concerned gaze. "I can't believe, I can't believe He's dead." Darkness blinds him.

"WHAT ARE YOU doing here?" Scott demanded, removing his helmet revealing his worried chocolate brown on Arthur who leaning against his own bike.

"Isaac texted." Arthur nodded at him a smile on his lips, picking up his trusted hammer, "You didn't think I was gonna let my friends get into a fight without me, did you?"

"We're just gonna talk to him, try to reason with him." Scott explained to both who came for a fight, he knew he couldn't change Arthur's mind. "That's it."

Isaac nodded wearing a look that said he wanted to at more, but choose not too.

             "What?"

"It's just that I'm hungry now." The blue eyed replied.

             "Yeah, me too."

"You didn't come alone." Deucalion noted, his hands clasped on top of his can standing on a broken escalator in a rundown  shopping mall, not far stood Arthur, Scott and Isaac in that order, bodies tense and alert.

"Yeah." Scott nodded, gesturing at the two, "This is Isaac and Arthur."

Deucalion tilted his head, "I'm not talking about Isaac or Arthur."

Arthur eyebrows pinched together glimpsing behind him, Derek revealed himself shifted, his sister Cora and Boyd behind him prepared for a fight. To be honest, Arthur isn't surprised. Derek has proven himself to be reckless on many opportunities, with losing Erica Derek feels remorseful and when given the opportunity he couldn't look away. Relief swelled in his chest for being a weapon.

"You knew I would do this? Derek, don't." Arthur knew there was no point in stopping Derek. He understands his motive, he won't leave until there's blood shed. "You can't do this so no one gets hurt. If someone else dies..."

"Him," Derek pointed a clawed finger at Deucalion stepping towards him, glaring.  "Just him."

"Just me? Now, how's a blind man find his way into a place like this all on his own?" Deucalion taunted sarcastically the alpha.

On cue, Kali came sliding down a pillar closet to Scott, the claws on her fingers and toes leaving a trail as she slides down. Arthur predicted a fight would happen, but actually being there and not in his mind is too completely different things giving him different reactions. Ernis climbed up the broken escalators behind them eyeing the three like raw meet, Scott tugged the human and teen wolf to the side Arthur scowling ignoring his heart starting to pound. And lastly, the twins stood on the edge upstairs in their half naked glory.

Arthur's grip tightened on his hammer, the tension weighed heavily on the air daring for someone to make the first move.

A challenge accepted by Derek who roared, his eyes blaring blood red, his mission being Deucalion but Kali launched forward her clawed foot slamming the Alpha to the ground.

The twins flipped onto their level behind Scott, Arthur and Isaac, morphed into one another. A rematch. Arthur twirls the hammer in his hand relaxing his grip, his hazel brown meeting two different shades of chocolate town and sky blue, a nod from Scott sent Isaac into action.

Arthur releases a breath, he couldn't let himself get distracted. His vans pounded against the concrete as Isaac was slammed into the ground effortlessly. Their fist swing his eyes glued as it skimmed the bridge of his nose, his hammer swung irrupted by their hand bending it back along with their arm forcing his back to arch and their foot stomped on him.

He wheezed colliding to the ground clutching his chest, cursing mentally. Fucking Alpha twins. The air knocked out of his lungs, his eyes spied Scott who'd shifted and sprinted, like Isaac they'd dodged his blows and slammed him into the wall leaving a dent. They're losing, but Arthur wasn't ready to give up.

He collected himself and his hammer, gulping air he felt like Amy Rose from Sonic swinging his hammer on their back, they stumbled distracting them from Isaac. He went for another blow but they dodged, their fingers wrapped around his wrist applying pressure and spun him around knocking Scott's side.

Isaac got back up, but they grabbed his arm and twisted it making his cry out slamming him into the ground head first. Claws raked Arthur's skin when he tried to fight back, his cries mixing with Cora's. Scott tumbling besides him, defeated.

The twins held Scott by his shirt and pulled Arthur by his foot with Isaac. In the middle of the war, Derek's pack laid defeated.

"Kill him." Deucalion demands gesturing to Boyd, his voice booming. Dereke glimpsed down his third beta their eyes meeting. "Four others can go. You're beaten." The blind Alpha climbs down the steps. "Do it, Derek. Take the first step."

"Are we serious with this kid? Look at him. He's an Alpha? To what?" Kali mocked, her foot above Cora's throat. "A couple of useless teenagers?" She applied pressure making her whimper.

"Some have more promise than others."

"Let him rise to the occasion then." The she Alpha suggested. "What'll it be, Derek? Pack or family?" Cora grimaced. Arthur felt dizzy on the ground, his blood turning into a pool around him.

An arrow whizzes through the stopping Derek from making his decision, flashing bombs erupted from the ceiling waking Arthur up. The twins broke apart falling to the ground, Kali grunted. And Isaac and Scott tugged Arthur away to a corner.

"Aah! Aah! Your eyes... cover your eyes!" Deucalion warned. With their backs to the flash, Scott ripped a piece of Arthur's t-shirt, glimpsing back at fight noticing the perfect opportunity but didn't want to leave him closet friend alone.

Isaac pushed the boy away forcing him to get back into the fighting muttering an 'Ive got this' firmly.  And he was gone. Arthur grunted when Isaac tie it around his side, his head tripped to the side mouth dry. Derek and Ernis fought dangerously close to the edge. He closed his eyes and reopened them; they're gone.

FLORENCE LIGHTS SHINED ON Arthur's eyes making him squint as a groan slipped past his lips, a strong smell of pine and bleacher strolling in his nostrils his hand laid on something cold, tilting his head his eyes widens at the needle jammed in the back of his hand gripping a metallic bed rail, the needle lead to an IV. He's in a hospital, why is he in the hospital?

Sitting up, he winced gripping his left side the image of the twins scratching him flashed in his mind followed by the memories of the fight and Derek laying on the bottom of the escalator.  His heart stings falling back on the soft pillow, it feel doesn't real. He bets if he called him he's answer because Derek Hale isn't dead. Shifting his legs he felt a weigh on them, his heart skips a beat as the sight of Lydia's hair sprawled on his legs asleep clutching his right hand. He couldn't have been here for long.

"Lydia." He calls, she doesn't react. He could the boisterous sound of chatter, coughs and hisses of pain outside his door. He's glad he's on this side. "Lydia." He drags out the last letter of her name flickering her ear and earned a slap. "Ow, that actually hurts."

"Arthur!" Lydia chimed, snapping awake and leaps into his arms. He grunts hugging her back, his stitches feels like they're tugging. "I came here as soon as I heard." Her grip tightens on him, "I actually thought -" she chokes.

"It's alright. I'm right here." Arthur murmured soft, rubbing her back comfortingly. The last thing he's want is to die and leave the people he cares about unprotected, he knew the risk and still he went in he couldn't let the villains win. "Where's my mom and Alice?"

"Your mom had to go work and Alice is at school, they've been here all night." She explained, taking her seat on the chair unable to tear her eyes from his bruised face.

"And why aren't you in school?" Arthur inquired, laying back down against the stiff hospital bed.

"Hello, 170 IQ." Lydia boasted, a proud smile on her lips. "And I'm not leaving until your discharged." Reaching into her bag she pulls out DVDs placing them on his lap. "I've got The Notebook, wow! The Little Mermaid and Corpse Bride, your choice. I also have treats for your sweet tooth."

A warmth blossomed in his chest listening to her list the things she brought for him, she took the time of her day to search for things to make him delighted in his time of need. God, he loved this girl. He loves her more than life itself and would do anything to make her feel safe.

"Lydia," He hand fell on top of her making her pause in her search and glance up at him. "I love you." It felt different saying it this time.

A smile spreads along her lips and ruffles his hair lightly, "I love you too."

THE COTTON T-SHIRT FEELS like heaven against his skin, wearing a hospital gown for one day has been embarrassing enough especially when he forgot it doesn't cover the back. Ugly bruises grew on his once pretty face making it harder to avoid questions, he said 'he got robbed' his sister and mother believed him, mother more so wanting to find the punks and persecuted their asses but poor Arthur couldn't remember a damn thing about them.

"You look badass." His sister complimented, digging her spoon into ice cream and shoving it into his mouth sitting on the edge of the nightstand, "I told my friends what happen and they think you're pretty cool,"

"Thank you?" Arthur replied. The thought of people thinking he was 'cool' was off because Arthur Robinson was anything but cool. Angry, great Lacrosse player and pretty those fitted his category. "I just cannot wait to sleep in my own bed." He cracks his neck left and right satisfaction swims in his bones on the bed, not noticing her flinch at the God awful sound.

"Why? So you can sleep it with Lydia?" Alice teased, eyebrows wiggling as she scouted back up on the nightstand.

He whips her leg with his hoodie. "Shut up, I don't want to sleep with Lydia." Lie. "Stop lifting your eyebrows like that." It makes him want to confess because he misses her even she had only been gone for an hour.

"Wait, are you two still not dating?" Alice questioned, pausing mid scope voice lowering surprised jaw dropping.

"No?" He answered, shrugging both his arms through his hoodie and pulls it over his head. "Why would we?"

"Oh, never mind then." She mumbled, stuffing her mouth with ice cream. She wasn't first to think the same way, he wished it was a reality but Lydia just doesn't feel the same way and there's nothing he same so about it.

He watches her shove her mouth with food, something she does when she thinks she said something she shouldn't have. "You should stop before you get ━" Arthur advised.

"Brain freeze!" Alice cried out, face twisted in pain slamming the half empty cup on the nightstand. He laughs, picking his bag up and grabs her wrists leading her out the hospital room.

( A/N ) ngl I seriously enjoyed writing this chapter!
It felt refreshing to write a semi chapter not on the
