George pov

I was back.

I was in the field again, this was the same grass I had spilt blood on my first mission. The mission I made my father proud of me with.

So many had fallen that day, but we had hurt our enemy so much more. My father's men stood proud at my side that day; they looked up to me.

Those same men weren't in the field with me right now though. I was happy though.

I was back.

My mother stood in front of me, twirling in that heavenly light pink dress that made her look so beautiful.

Her hair was brown, like mine, but it was almost darker than night, and it blew in the wind now and shone in the sun. She had the same brown eyes as I did, but I thought they looked better on her where they glinted with happiness that she manifested in the corrupt space she had to learn to thrive in.

My mother was beautiful and she was happy and she was here.

There were tears in my eyes, but my vision somehow didn't blur. Nothing could obstruct the sight before me. Nothing could bring me to miss this.

She was there, spinning as carefree as she did that night in the dressing room, and I sat by watching, already knowing that something like this couldn't be real.

It couldn't be real.

My eyes had tears in them, and my vision started to fade. My mother stopped dancing and she stood still in the that I had carved my name in blood.

She was still. So still. And no matter how much I wanted to, no matter what I did, I couldn't make her move again.

She would never be able to dance like she loved to do, her fingers would never run through my hair like they used to, the corner of her lips would never turn up to grace me with that smile that she had till the end.

There were tears on my cheeks as I realized that she was dead once more. I couldn't have her back. I had failed. I had allowed a nemesis to grow in the shadows for so long that her life was taken as a result.

I could never allow this to happen again.

I had to protect what little I still had.

My eyes flew open at the sound of the door. I nearly chuckled at the small noise. Too many years had I spent training myself to be bothered by the slightest noise.

My head still lay on the ground and the vibrations of gentle footsteps thudded into my ear, making me fight an uncomfortable shuffle. Curse everyone who hadn't spend six months perfecting a cat walk.

Footfalls continued to the opposite side of the bed, stopping for a moment where I assumed the bedside table was. A clatter of silverware. Did they really think I was going to eat anything they gave me? Footsteps started again, clearly walking away.

My body was tense, probably more than I should have allowed it to be, and my breathing was overly controlled. There was no way they didn't know I was awake. They would probably start their extraction of information any minute now.

Instead, the door closed, and I couldn't believe my mind.

Perhaps my captor was stupid? Perhaps they hired idiots? Only an idiot would do that! Fucking hell...

I lay still for a while before I got up, scanning the room once again carefully for traces of newly placed objects.

All I found was a plastic tray with a paper plate and silver spoon on it. At least they knew not to give me real dishes. Someone would have been dead really quickly if they did. Even a plastic fork would have been more lethal than what they gave me.

I ignored the food at the expense of my pained stomach and walked around the room, taking my time to observe the camera in a corner.

I shook my head slowly. Why the fuck would they give me an actual camera? They didn't even hide it! They really were idiots!

Walking back towards the bedside table, I carefully place the tray on the ground, pulling the table to rest underneath the camera.

If there was anyone watching this footage, I had to work quickly if I wanted to have a chance with my plan.

I scrambled on top of the table, ripping the camera out of the corner and smashing it onto the ground, making a side panel fall to the floor. Perfect.

The next step was to maneuver around the cords and cables.

Colors blurred together, it was difficult to tell which one was the correct one. Years of practice made a slight difference, but it was still difficult to organize. I couldn't care about that, though, I knew someone was coming by now.

One wire faded into the next as the contraption came together, a small smile finding its way onto my carefully expressionless face. It was almost too easy.

Suddenly, a shrill pitch erupted around the room, sending shocks through my veins and giving me an instant headache. It was music to my ears. I began to speak.

"Gold, follow the frequency to my location. Bring 4 with you. Don't stop until you find it. There will be 0 left. If we've relocated, I'll leave a clue as to where we've gone. Code, 4."

The door burst open as I allowed my body to relax. My shoulders relax, and my back goes slack. My vision threatens to blacken, but I am pulled to my feet roughly.

I never heard footsteps enter the room; maybe my captors aren't as stupid or void of training as I thought.

It was silent for a while, and I had no will to fight the men holding me, so I stood.

It must have been fifteen minutes, but as my mind continued to run with possibilities for my fate, the time seemed to lengthen until we were waiting too long.

But then, there were footsteps.

Slow, loud, and low. Menacing.

I froze, my mind going blank as a the image of a single emotionless smile stretched across it. I knew who was coming.

I heard his voice before I saw the mask. And it broke me. My mind shattered, and my muscles tensed more than they ever had in any situation and I felt sure they would snap.

"Hello, Georgie."

My mind curdled, and I felt my shoulders hunch.

"Well, we've been naughty, haven't we? I think it's time to move onto the days activities."

I'm excited to write the next chapter.

I liked this chapter, but I feel like the end could be better.

I would go ahead and write the next part, and this chapter would have been out hours ago, but I went to do smth and then I got busy.

I'm glad I was able to get something out tho!

I hope your all having a great day/night/evening/morning/afternoon/mid morning/midnight/dusk/dawn. You deserve to! You're all my inspirations and you inspire me to be more like you every day, I'm serious.

Much luvs to you all 🫶

I'll write again soon (hopefully)
