"You need to try to control this more." The brilliant mutant told Kara a few hours after her breakdown. Hank held her arm with care, the needle nearly poking her.
"You don't think I try? It takes everything within me not to tear everyone apart. Every glance I get makes my blood boil. And every time I get ticked off, a tail flies out of my back and all I can see is red. I'm this close to becoming an animal." She complains to him, holding her fingers close together to show what she meant.
"That's not true, Kara. You're just as much human as everybody else." He speaks, the needle piercing her skin, causing a hissing pain to come out of her. "You just have a little problem with anger." He looked up and saw the tears threatening to come out, her lip quivering. "Oh no Kara, please don't cry." She shook her head, sniffing.
"It's stupid I'm sorry. It's just I want to be normal. I want to go out to parties and school like all the other girls." She paused, looking in the mirror. "This is the face my family turned away. The face that made children cry. I'm the laughing stock of this school." She sneered out. Kara breathed heavily, trying to control herself, and not get worked up.
Hank put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Kara, you remember what I told you about my mutation right?" She nodded. "Look where trying to cure myself got me."
"Are you saying I shouldn't continue this?"
"No it's not that. It's just maybe you should listen to what the professor is trying to say. He's been around longer than any of us."
Kara scoffs. "He has nothing to hide though. He doesn't have any blue fur or scales to be ashamed of. He's able to go out without fearing for himself."
Hank sighed at her closed mind. Even the professor couldn't convince her. "You're all done for the day with tests. Just take it easy alright?" Kara nodded and left without another word. Deep down she knew he was right. She knew that this was what nature had planned for her, and she couldn't mess with nature.
