BLOODSHED! 2023
A continuation.

Mayfair Alvarez does not need you to tell her she's different.

She has been sure of that for a long time.

It all began way back when, back at that gods-forsaken wilderness school for 'troubled kids' she accidentally got herself sent to after she blew up her old school's chemistry lab. (Four times). Back when Jason Grace showed up, entirely unannounced and equally as confused. The good news had been that May's best friends Leo Valdez and Piper McLean vouched for him; the bad news was that May had been convinced she was going crazy.

Ultimately, she wasn't crazy. She was just a demigod.

Whatever that meant.

She learned, though, through plenty of trial and error on her quest with Leo and Jason, what day-to-day life of a demigod looked like: Defeating monsters, holding off angry giants, discovering that the ancient goddess of the entire world is slowly waking up, and finally—all at once, there at the end—learning that Camp Half-Blood isn't the only haven for children of the gods and that Percy Jackson (the mystery guy May had been helping his girlfriend track him down) has really been at its Roman counterpart all along.

Jeez—talk about info-dumping. May was pretty positive she'd never understand it all; especially not that bit about the ancient evil goddess's awakening, but that's a problem for another time.

(At least.... she thinks it'll be for another time.)

For now, though, she's stuck on a flying warship with six of her fellow demigods, all headed to carry out a prophecy that she's pretty positive ends with her own demise. Because how else would she spend her summer than on her way to the afterlife?

She is a demigod, after all.

welcome to the new & improved bloodshed!!! .. disregarding the first two books of the HoO series for pacing purposes. if you read the original version of bloodshed, you know that the people who didn't won't be missing out on much 🥲 it was boring and slow so i decided i didn't want to subject you guys to reading that to get to the quicker-portions of the HoO series!!

good news though—jade is still here (under a different name) & will be the chief narrator for this book. for those unaware (& to rehash) jade is a daughter of athena and went on the quest depicted in tlh with jason & leo to rescue hera. theo scott from my original percy fic "cruel summer" popped in every once in a while looking for her bf etc but overall the lost hero is BOOOO tomato tomato BORING and i didn't want to put you guys to sleep by writing it out again.

on a similar note, son of neptune won't be included in this fic either because it would genuinely just be the exact same plot from the book. this fic will pick up at the end of SoN and carry all the way through the HoO series!

* mark of athena has been replaced with my own version of the book, "The Ruin of Apollo" which i am so excited for you guys to read 😌😌😌
