Chapter Nine

"You know the book doesn't make you invisible right?" V asked Camilla who was hiding her face behind a textbook. She kept the textbook down and frowned.

"I know" Camilla replied, "but it worked yesterday" she added. It was already Tuesday and Camilla had done a good job avoiding Jordan yesterday. Today was different, she had many classes with the said boy.

"What even happened between you two?" V asked. The biology teacher was sleeping in front of the class so the entire class was chatting away. Some students were sleeping and some others were pranking those that were sleeping. It was chaos.

"Something happened on Friday and now I have to avoid him at all cost" Camilla responded placing her head on the desk. She had to seat on the last row just so Jordan won't seat behind her and try to talk to her.

"Well, say no more he's coming" V said. Camilla shot up from the desk when she heard it only to realize it was a lie. V started laughing ignoring Camilla's glare. "That was nice to watch" V said smiling.

"Haha so funny" Camilla said sarcastically. She placed her head back on the desk and this time she faced her right backing V.

"He's actually coming" she heard V say but she was not going to fall for it again.

"I'm not stupid V" she replied.

"Camilla, I need to talk to you", Camilla didn't need to be told twice who was talking. The bell rang signalling the end of class. Camilla took her book and bag and ran out the class.

"Camilla, wait!" Jordan called out leaving the class. Camilla didn't stop, she kept on running towards the stairs. The students in the hallway helped to cover her from Jordan's eyes.

Camilla was about to let out a sigh of relief when she felt someone's hand on hers.

"Just give me five minutes" Jordan pleaded. Camilla almost fell for it. She looked at Jordan's hand holding hers but she had to stay strong.

"I would keep your secret if that's what you want. So please let me go." Camilla said trying to get her hand out of his grip but he didn't let go.

"She said you should let her go!" Sean said pushing Jordan backwards. Jordan let go of Camilla's hand as a result. The students present in the hallway gave them space and they all stood to watch what was going on.

"What's your problem?!" Jordan yelled angrily holding himself from fighting back. He knew that with his strength he would give Sean a serious injury. Camilla tried to hold Sean back but he wasn't budging.

"I want you to stay away from her, understand?!" Sean spat angrily. Jordan chuckled looking at Sean in the eye.

"Why should I do that?" Jordan asked and that straw broke the camel's back. Sean took quick short strides towards Jordan before punching him square in the jaw. Jordan stumbled backwards holding his jaw.

"Sean! Are you crazy?" Camilla shrieked. Sean wanted to go further when Micheal grabbed him.

"Calm down dude" Micheal said dragging his cousin off. Jordan stormed off in the opposite direction and Camilla was left in the hallway. The students dispersed after the show ended and headed to their classes.
*******
"Sean! Why the hell would you punch Jordan?" V asked walking into Sean's room. School was finally over and nobody has said a word about what happened in the hallway. Camilla didn't even come to the cafeteria for lunch.

"Leave me alone" Sean said trying to focus on his maths homework. He didn't even know what he was writing but he needed something to help him keep his mind off what happened.

"You overreacted" V stated sitting on his bed, "why are you even bothered about Camilla and Jordan? They may just be having a little argument."

"She's my best friend" Sean responded looking at his book blankly.

"Spare me that crap. If you don't tell me the real reason freely, I'm going to force it out of you." V threatened. Sean sighed before closing his book.

"You can't tell anyone this." Sean said and V nodded, "the reason I dated Scarlett in the first place was to make Camilla jealous but.." a small creak of the old wooden tiles was heard outside the room, Sean rushed out to see who was there only to see a teary Scarlett.

"Scarlett, I.." he started but she apparated before he could continue. He rushed out of the house and entered his car. He drove to Scarlett's house hoping she was there.

He reached the cafe and went straight upstairs not waiting for the waitress to direct him or anything. He was about to knock on the door when Scarlett's dad opened the door surprising the both of them.

"Good evening sir, I really need to see your daughter" Sean said desperately. Scarlett's dad looked at him weirdly.

"You're that kid from before. Come in" he said opening the door so it was wide enough for Sean to enter. "Scarlett!" He called out before giving Sean a pointed look, "I'll be downstairs boy" he said before patting Sean on his back.

"Dad, I'm not in the.. what are you doing here?!" Scarlett asked angrily. Sean tried to step closer to her but she stepped away from him.

"Scarlett, I'm sorry.." he started.

"Sorry for what? "Scarlett asked, "for being used? For being your second choice? Or for not loving me? For what exactly?!"she yelled angrily. Tears were now streaming down her face. "I didn't leave you when you told me you were a witch hunter. How stupid did I look? It must have been funny for you, watching me love you like a fool."

"At first I just wanted to make Camilla jealous but now.. I" Sean said trying to explain.

"Just leave. Seeing you makes me want to rip my hair out." Scarlett said walking towards the door. She opened the door for him and pointed outside.

"Scarlett please listen" Sean pleaded.

"Get out!" She yelled and Sean knew he had to leave before her dad came up. He left the house sadly and the door slammed behind him. He knew dating Scarlett because of Camilla was a bad idea in the first place. It was hard having feelings for your best friend who was oblivious of them. What he did to Scarlett was inhumane, he knew he really likes her.

Scarlett slid down the door and broke out in a sob. How could I fall for that? How could I be so stupid? She thought. All those times she thought Sean liked her, she was just being used.

*******
Camilla just stared at the ceiling. Numerous thoughts ran through her mind. She wanted to call Jordan and apologize but at the same time, she wanted to avoid him. Her phone rang loudly and she hurriedly picked it without looking at the caller ID. It was ten in the night and her parents were probably asleep.

"We need to talk, come downstairs" the caller said. Camilla looked at her phone and saw it was Jordan calling.

"It's like ten in the night. How can I come downstairs by this time?" She argued but Jordan had already hung up the phone. She opened her window and looked out. She saw a boy, who was obviously Jordan, standing there. That's his business, I'm not going anywhere, she thought but her conscience didn't let her ignore him. She put on Jordan's jacket which she hasn't returned yet and her slippers and carefully sneaked downstairs. She didn't have an explanation for meeting a boy by that time so she had to sneak.

Camilla successfully closed the front door and did a little celebratory dance. She heard someone laugh behind her and she realized Jordan must've seen her embarrass herself.

"What do you want to see me for?" she asked clearing her throat. Jordan smiled at that and took her hand.

"Let's take a walk" he said and she widened her eyes in alarm. He's going to kill me because of that stupid boy called Sean, she thought. "Don't worry, I don't bite. Let's go" he said smugly, tugging her hand. Camilla knew she had a problem, always doing what others wouldn't. First was the photocopying machine, now a teen wolf.

"Fine" she huffed following him. She didn't even bother to take her hand out of his, it was comfortable.

"Is that my jacket?"Jordan asked not even looking at her.

"No" she replied immediately, why did I even lie? "What do you want to talk about?" She asked before he could say anything.

"I know you already have an idea of what I am." He said looking at her and she nodded. "I would appreciate it if you don't tell anyone especially Sean. There's more to him than you know. He and his family pose as a threat to mine."

"Sean keeps secrets way more than you can imagine." Camilla replied. The night was chilly and quiet. The light of the half moon illuminated the street making it less scary than it actually was.

"Since we are talking about secrets, why don't you tell me one of yours?" Jordan asked looking at Camilla. Camilla thought about it for a moment before realizing that she knew he was a werewolf so it was only fair that she showed him her own ability or whatever it's called. Her reasoning didn't work when she was with Jordan. She didn't care to think of the future complications telling him her secret might cause. She just wanted to do it because everything felt right with him.

"Alright, close your eyes" she said and Jordan looked at her suspiciously. "Come on now, close your eyes" she said smiling cheekily. Jordan sighed and closed his eyes, he couldn't help but wonder if she was going to run off and leave him here. "Open your eyes" he heard her say. He opened his eyes and saw her standing in front of him.

"What am I supposed to see?" Jordan asked confusedly. He felt a tap on his shoulder and he turned around only to see another Camilla. "What the -?" Jordan hissed, "how is this even possible?" He asked surprised. He couldn't believe he was standing in between two identical girls. "Is she your twin?" He asked one of the Camillas and she shook her head. He watched as the Camilla standing in front of him entered back into the second one, the real one.

"I don't know what to call that but it's what I got" Camilla said unconsciously taking Jordan's hand and walked back to her house.

"You never cease to amaze me" Jordan said tightening his hold on her. They walked in a comfortable silence and Camilla blushed all the way. She was happy to just be in the moment.

"We are here" Jordan said looking at Camilla's house. He didn't want to let go of her hand, not yet.

"Yeah.." Camilla said equally reluctant. Jordan smiled at her and she returned the smile. Little by little their heads came closer until Camilla gasped and put her hand on his lips. "My parents might come out" she said alarmed. Jordan licked her palm and she scrunched her face before removing her hand from his lips

"Even if they do, they won't believe it's their goody two-shoes daughter" Jordan joked. Camilla smiled before standing on her toes and wrapping her hands around his neck. Their lips met and synced in a perfect harmony.
