Chapter Nineteen

Azura's POV

I sashayed into the mansion and saw three familiar faces I've been seeing for the past few days. They were engrossed in a heated conversation before Camilla noticed my presence.

"Azura" she said and I gave her a wave. I walked towards the stairs not before turning to see Camilla arguing, that knucklehead.. she'd definitely do anything to prove her point. I entered the room I've been staying in and headed straight to the bathroom. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and noticed the skin along my jawline about to peel off. I tried using my hand to put it back but it was impossible. I tied my hair up and tried to look at the back of my already decayed neck. No matter the amount of make-up i used, the decayed skin was still prominent so I just let my hair down most of the time.

               Flashback
"You know I won't do that, Azura" Derek said giving me one of his infamous crooked smile, "how have you been? I didn't know you were out already" he said looking at the menu that was placed on the table.

"Let's not beat around the bush, Derek" I said taking a sip of the coffee I had ordered before his arrival.

"You haven't changed a bit" he grinned looking at me.

"Neither have you" I said. The bastard used the immortality spell and he looked more than hundred years younger than his actual age. "It's time to pay the debt you owe me" I said leaning on my chair. Derek's face fell and he looked a lot more serious now. He knew he owed me a lot after I saved him from being caught by the council of Witches.

"What do you want then?" He asked leaning towards me and I smiled placing my hands on the table.

"A body. One that is alive and well" I said giving him a fake sweet smile. A girl came towards our table with a pen and notebook in her hands. She was about to talk when Derek gave her one of his wonderful glares and she scurried off.

"Don't you have one now?" He asked and I shook my head. I raised my hair and turned my back to him. I faced him again and he nodded in understanding.

"I need one as soon as possible, Derek. I know you can do that for me." I said sweetly giving him a smile which he returned forcefully.

           End of flashback

I decided to take a shower and wait for Derek's call. He knew better than to betray me. I stripped off the skin-tight leather dress I was wearing and let the water wash off my worries.

At Derek's place...

Derek carefully kept the machine in his private chambers. He smiled proudly, even if he couldn't get the girl, he still has the machine, getting the girl would be easy. He heard a knock on the door and with a simple movement of his finger, the door opened revealing Russell who looked so pitiful.

"I'm sorry I couldn't get the girl. I promise i'll.." Russell started but Derek raised his hand signalling Russell to shut up.

"That's not important now. I need you to get me a young woman. Azura needs a new body so the woman needs to be alive" Derek said as if it was the easiest thing in the world. Russell was utterly dumbfounded. Even though he swore his uttermost loyalty to Derek, bringing a woman who will eventually be possessed by a witch is definitely inhuman.

"But sir... How can I kidnap a woman out of the blue? It's.. it's.." sensing the man's hesitance, Derek stalked towards the window clicking his tongue.

"I'm not pressurizing you. Then again, I wonder how ecstatic Azura would be when she learns that there is a genetically engineered body of a young girl she can possess. I can already imagine the look on her face when she realizes that what she seeks is right under her nose" Derek said using the wild card he has. The one weakness Russell has.

"I'll do my best to get what you need sir" and with that, the door closed and Derek smiled triumphantly.

Camilla's POV

"Camilla, I know that he is your family but the man didn't hesitate when he threw a knife at us. Worst of all, he's working with the man we are trying to stop" Sean said frustratedly. This has been going on for the past thirty minutes. Scarlett and Sean were trying to convince me that as far as uncle Russell is working with Derek, he is also like Derek. Although I understood the angle they were coming from, part of me still believes that uncle Russell wouldn't be that heartless.

"I know but just hear me out. I'm sorry to bring this up but when your parents had that tragic accident and you found out that your dad was going to die, you gave Azura your mum's body just so you can save your father. What if that's the same with uncle Russell? What if Derek has something on him that makes him work for Derek knowing how devious the man is?" I argued and they were silent because they knew I had a point. Scarlett took a deep breath and looked at me.

"So, what do you propose we do?" She asked and Sean looked at me waiting for my response.

"I want to talk to him" I said and Sean scoffed.

"You are not serious, are you?" He said and I gave him a pointed look, "Camilla.."

"There is no harm in talking to him. I just want to be sure I don't feel guilty if anything happens in the future." I said and Sean sighed.

"How do we meet him? I'm not going back to that house if that's what you are planning" Sean said and Scarlett's eyes lit up. She opened her bag and brought out the book of a thousand witches.

"There is a tracking spell in this book. We can find your uncle's location and know when he leaves Derek's house. He won't be inside there 24-hours a day." Scarlett suggested and I smiled widely at her.

"Scarlett that's brilliant!" I said, "do you need anything for the spell?" I asked and she opened the book and turned a few pages.

"Yeah, I need his hair for the spell to work" Scarlett said and I sighed dejectedly.

"Let's go to his room. Maybe we can find a strand there." Sean suggested and I quickly nodded. I rushed towards the stairs but I heard Sean's voice call Scarlett and I paused.

"If all this is over, do you want to go and see a movie with me or something?" I barely heard him ask and I heard Scarlett say yes. I felt a little bit sad but I shook it off and headed towards Uncle Russell's room. I was about to pass Azura's room when I saw the door slightly open and Azura was in a robe backing the door. I noticed her skin, around the neck region, was grey. She turned and saw me, before I could say anything, she slammed the door close. What's going on? I thought but I continued to head to Uncle Russell's room. This was not the time to get distracted.

I opened the door to his room and boy was this room spotless. How am I supposed to find a strand of hair here? I looked around the room and couldn't find a thing. I entered the bathroom and looked around. I checked the drawers, the floor and even the bathtub but I couldn't find anything. Just when I was about to give up and leave the room, I saw a book that looked like a diary. I saw it before but I didn't pay any attention to it. I picked the book up and opened it. On the first page, I saw a small transparent plastic bag containing sand attached to the page and under it he wrote ' first day at the beach with Angela '. This was his own way of preserving memories by actually preserving them. I turned straight to the last page not ready to go down memory lane of this big book. I saw a handful of grey hair carefully packed in the small plastic bag, it was then that I realized something.

Sean and Scarlett came into the room, both smiling cheekily. Scarlett was the first to see the book in my hands and gave me a confused look.

"How could I not remember?" I asked rhetorically.

"Remember what?" Sean asked and I showed them the hair.

"We've been looking for the hair of a genetically engineered body not uncle Russell's. This is his real hair" I said and they both looked at me in surprise.

            Third person POV

Russell walked out of Derek's house feeling nervous. He didn't feel good about kidnapping an innocent person. If he had a choice, he wouldn't do it at all. He was not with his car and Derek never bothered to buy a car so he  was just going to take a taxi. Just as he was about to trek to the beginning of the street because no taxi or private cars frequented this road, he felt someone's hand on his shoulder and before he could realize what was going on, he apparated.
