Sweet dreams are made of these

Who am I to disagree

Leila's music blasted on her ipod nano she won at a lottery in one of the town's she visited just last week. Her hands effortlessly reloading the shotgun with bullets filled with rock salt.

And the seven seas,

Everybody's looking for something

Some of them want to use you

After her confrontation with John Winchester in Lawrence, she'd cut off contact with the boys. Leila couldn't help them on their search anymore, afterall, she'd already found him and he had no desire to be found by them yet.

Some of- th- want to be abuse-

Leila cocked her shotgun at the figure that ran out into the hallway, "Woah, just me, sugar." Baal grinned, holding his hands up in surrender.

"Did you find it?" Leila asked as she turned the music off her ipod, it was getting staticky and the music started cutting off.

"Well- of course." Baal held up a small music box that looked like it's been hammered.

The house was infected with a ghost that didn't want women in the house. Particularly due to the fact that the previous owner hung herself in the house when she found out that her husband had been bringing home ladies from the fun house.

Having continued his affair after her death, the wife killed the woman her husband came back with one day and murdered him as well. The police, as usual, couldn't figure out the reason or the causes of death and pinned it on the husband for grief.

Leila took the music box from him, holding it gingerly in her hands. This was the only thing keeping her tethered to this plane of life, the one thing that held happy memories of herself and her husband when they were first married.

A woman flickered into view at the end of the hall, her eyes bloodshot red. "Shit." Leila muttered and aimed her shotgun at the woman, however her figure flickered and disappeared. "Burn it. Now."

She tossed the music box back to Baal, who caught it and ran to the living room, tossing the box into the fireplace. Leila stood at his back, keeping her shotgun ready. The woman appeared right in front of Leila, hitting her away.

Leila landed on a table full of little glass figurines, letting out a cry of pain when some of the glass pierced her skin. She shot the woman before she could get Baal, the rock salt dispersing her form. "Hurry!"

Fumbling with the oil and match, Baal managed to get the music box lit as the woman approached him from behind. Her screams as she rose up in flames rang loudly in Leila's ears.

Another hunt finished.

"So, dinner?" Baal asked as he helped Leila up from the mess.

Leila chuckled, pulling out some of the glass pieces in her palm. "Sure. My treat."

They drove back to the motel room in silence, Leila tending to her small wounds on the way. She figured she could use a shower before they went to a bar or a restaurant. Probably a bar. She could use a drink or two. Or several.

A small ding alerted her of a text and she wondered who it was. Reading it, it was just a set of numbers. 39.572, -105.117. "Dammit." Even with the number blocked, she knew exactly who it was. Why the hell would he reach out to her now?

The newspaper by the door caught her eyes and she unfolded it, scanning the pages. She found the reason why John texted her. Daniel Elkins was found dead in his cabin. "Shit." Leila ran her fingers through her hair, freeing the knots it tangled up in.

Baal opened the door, nearly hitting her in the face. "Woah, so eager to go are we?" He said jokingly, his smile fading when he saw the look on her face. "You're leaving."

"Baal- I'm sorry. They're like family. Actually, they're the closest thing I have to family. I can't keep avoiding them."

Baal shook his head and grabbed her by her shoulders, "Hey, it's okay. I'll help you pack."

"Thanks, you're the best."

While packing away her things, Leila couldn't help but wonder if the man himself would be at the location. Elkins was a friend of his, wasn't he? She figured she could contact the brothers about this, if John was going to be there, they should see him.

Hey Sam, come to Manning, Colorado; Daniel Elkins -LJ

The message alert on his phone pulled him away from the computer screen. "Huh."

"What?" Dean folded the newspaper he was reading in half and tossed it on the table.

"It's LJ, she wants us to come to Colorado. Some guy named Daniel Elkins..." Sam gave his phone to Dean and typed up Daniel Elkins on his computer. The first result was of a man who was found mauled in his home.

"Wait, Elkins? I know that name." Dean pulled out their father's journal and started flicking through the pages, he knew that name, it was definitely in his dad's journal. "There, check it out." He handed the journal to Sam and pointed to the name D Elkins and a phone number in the pages.

"You think it's the same Elkins?"

"It's a Colorado area code."

The brothers hauled ass from Nebraska and made it to Manning by nightfall. Since it was dark, they decided to check out the cabin Elkins owned. Getting their way inside was easy for the brothers, a small lock pick and a simple twist and the door swung open welcomingly.

Inside the cabin looked like a train wreck, papers thrown everywhere, furniture overthrown, even the door was busted. Despite the mess, the Winchesters noticed the line of salt by the door and a journal.

"That looks a hell of a lot like Dad's." Sam commented, walking up behind Dean who was leafing through the journal.

"Yep, except this dates back to the 60s." Dean added and walked past the broken door, trying not to step on the broken glass.

"Hands in the air!" Someone shouted as they shone a bright flashlight on the boys' faces.

Blinded by the light, the brothers kept their hands up, "Look, uh, we can explain." Dean started to say but he wasn't given the chance to. As the person lowered the light from their faces and laughed.

"Yeah, bet you could." Leila smirked, pointing her flashlight elsewhere, "Howzit boys?"

"You almost gave me a heart attack!" Complained Dean but his smile couldn't keep itself from forming. "Did you know Elkins?"

She didn't know if she should tell them about her relationship with their dad, she figured if he did show up he'd tell them about Elkins. "A friend of mine. Kinda. He was pretty much a legend, him and his crew."

"Hm." Sam responded, "Well, whatever attacked him, there was more than one." He shined his light at the hole in the roof.

Leila picked up a small case that had a shape of a gun and bullet holders. "Interesting." Why would Elkins have tried to defend himself with a gun that he kept in a case, she wondered.

"Look here." Dean was kneeling on the floor, rubbing lead on a piece of paper off the ground. "Three letters, six digits. Look familiar?"

"The location and combination of a post office box." Sam scoffed, "It's a mail drop."

The three went to the local post office and opened the box, inside was a single letter addressed to J.W. They sat inside the Impala, staring at the letter wondering if they should open it. A small knock on the window made all three of you jump with Dean ready to fight whoever it was.

It definitely wasn't who they expected. "Dad?"

John Winchester opened the door and sat down in the backseat, right next to Leila. Leila grunted as she shifted over and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Dad, what are you doing here? Are you all right?"

The older Winchester looked perfectly fine, except maybe for the bags under his eyes but then again, didn't everyone? Although knowing John, he probably wasn't getting much sleep, if he got any at all.

"He was a good man, he taught me a hell of a lot about hunting." John spoke grimly, "We had a... we had kind of a falling out. I hadn't seen him in years."

"You have a falling out with just about everyone." Leila muttered under her breath, only Sam acknowledged he heard what you said as John ignored her comment.

"That son of a bitch. He had it this whole time." John exclaimed, a bit of anger laced in his voice. This perked Leila's interest, what did Elkins have that John wanted? "When you searched the place, did you see a gun? An antique, a Colt revolver, did you see it?"

Sighing, Leila nodded, "There was an old case. Empty. Whoever killed him probably took it."

John started getting out of the car, "We gotta pick up the trail."

Sam and Dean glanced at each other surprised, "You want us to come with you?"

"If Elkins was telling the truth we gotta find this gun."

"The gun, why?"

John seemed impatient as he answered all their little questions. He didn't have time to stand around like this, each second passing meant the trail would get colder. "Because it's important, that's why."

"Dad, we don't even know what these things are yet." Sam argued, he didn't like not knowing things, especially when his dad seemed to know and just didn't tell them.

"It had to be vampires." Leila interrupted the small banter between the men, she didn't want them to start getting heated like they always did. "It's what Elkins killed best."

After John explained to his two boys what vampires were, contrary to the lore about burning in sunlight, they actually were like normal people and didn't mind sunlight as long as it wasn't direct. They all went to a motel and checked into the same room. Leila didn't mind sharing the room, but she knew she wouldn't get much sleep.

For half the night, as the brothers snored away, Leila kept her silence. Now that he knew, she didn't know how to act, she couldn't be who she was before or who she was after.

The night felt long in silence, Leila drifted off the sleep on the couch, curled up in a ball. She only woke when she heard the boys grumbling.

"Let's go." John tossed her jacket to her, which she caught gracefully with her face.

Leila barely heard the conversation John was having with Sam, she grudgingly got up, stretching out her much sore neck.

At the road where an abandoned car was discovered, John went ahead and spoke to the authorities, leaving the three of them by the car. That didn't settle well with Sam.

"What have you got?" Dean asked, when John walked over to them with his hands in his pocket.

John confirmed it was the group of vampires and that they were heading west. Unfortunately, due to the abandoned car, they were going to have to get around the detour and double back. Dean seemed satisfied with the answer he received, Sam, however was not.

Confronting John about his certainty, Sam seemed wounded up, Leila realized this was what Dean was pointing out earlier. Sam always had questions for John, always, he wasn't going to be just a mindless soldier.

There was a moment of silence before John pulled out something from his pocket and gave it to Dean. It was a small tooth that was sharp, just like a fang. "Their second set descends when they attack." He stared at Sam, "Any more questions?"

Sam stiffened and looked away in silence. "Alright, let's get out of here. We're losing daylight." John barked as he walked towards his truck. He didn't forget to scold Dean about the shape of his car as he walked away. Sam gave Dean a look with an annoyed face and Leila could only grimace at the situation.

This was not gonna get better.

As per usual, her intuition was on point. While in the car with Sam and Dean, the brother's bantered over the way Sam was acting and it came out that Sam didn't like being treated like a child. From how Dean reacted, though he would never admit it, he wasn't too thrilled with it either.

Unfortunately, Sam blew when John told them to pull off on the exit next over, all Leila and Dean could do was hold onto the Impala for dear life as he ramped up the engines and overtook John's truck, swerving the car around in front of it. Leila swore she saw her life flash before her eyes as John's truck stopped just barely from hitting the car.

"Oh crap. Here we go." Dean said about the same time as Leila sprouted a string of curse words under her breath.

Leila watched silently from the car and Sam and John began yelling at each other. She didn't want to get involved in any more family affairs. Soon, she thought it was over as Dean pulled Sam away, but she saw him mutter something that made John even angrier.

As the yelling match got louder, Leila stepped out of the car just as Dean forced them apart, yelling at them both. She was quite surprised that he actually managed to step up to John. However, things weren't looking so hot, Sam got in the Impala and John returned to his car, leaving her and Dean outside.

"Terrific." Dean sighed, throwing his hands in the air.

Feeling bad for him, Leila patted him on the shoulder, walking towards John's car. "I'll ride with him. Don't worry about it."

John didn't expect his car door to open and when it did he stared blankly at the person who climbed in. "LJ."

"Hiya." Leila said as she settled in the seat. It definitely felt nicer having more room to move around in. "I was kinda getting cramped in the back." She explained as she watched Sam move the car out of the way.

Without a response, John drove into the exit and stared straight at the road in front.

"You know, they're both grown up. Did you really expect them to listen without asking any questions?" Leila started, half talking to herself but it was implied towards him. "There's no harm in telling them."

John sighed and changed his grip on the wheel, "I know. It's just, I just want-"

"To protect them? You can't treat them like kids forever. You gotta let them grow up. Isn't that how you treated them anyway?" Leila knew she might be a bit harsh on her words but it was the truth. John threw his sons into a life of hardships the moment he took up the hunter's life. The fact that he still treated them like kids even though he raised them differently, wasn't fair to them.

She remained silent for the rest of the drive, having said everything needed. When they scoped out the vampire's nest and went back to their cars to grab their weapons, John took up on her advice, telling the boys about the Colt.

A gun made by Samuel Colt, a hunter on horseback. A special gun that could kill anything. And he only made thirteen bullets for it, using it half dozen times before he disappeared along with the gun.

Once the boys realized that this gun was necessary to kill the demon that killed their mother and Sam's girlfriend, they seemed to move without hesitation.

John sneaked in alone to find the gun while the brothers and Leila snuck in to find the couple that disappeared on the road.

Inside the barn, the vampires sleep together in hammocks, snoring away after what seemed like a night of partying. The place reeked of beer, sweat, and blood.

Unfortunately for them, the rescue mission went astray as the woman was already turned and alerted the rest, waking all of them. All they could do was get the hell out of there as the waking vampires came after them with snarling teeth.

For a moment, when they couldn't see John, Leila almost feared for the worst. Contrary to her worries, John ran out unscathed and out of breath. The Winchesters and Leila made their way back to the motel to prepare for the vampires.

With work to do, John sent Dean and Leila to the funeral home to retrieve some dead man's blood.

Despite not liking to be bossed around, Leila was more than happy to go with Dean, she didn't wanna be stuck with Sam and John and the awkward tension.

With her charms and Dean's stealth skills, she managed to distract a few of the guards while Dean sneaked in to collect some blood from the dead men.

It was an easy enough job to get the blood, almost as easy to capture the female vampire. Unfortunately, the next would not be as easy. Nor did John want help getting the gun.

"Dad, you can't take care of them all yourself." Dean argued when John told them to get out of the area after rescuing the people captured.

Even Leila agreed with Dean, "Doing this on your own is dangerous, John."

"I'll have her. And the Colt." He reasoned calmly, gesturing towards the drugged female vampire.

Amongst the three, Sam was the only one it seemed, to understand John's intentions behind his order. "We're gonna meet up after, right? Use the gun together. Right?" When John didn't reply, Sam scoffed. "You're leaving again, aren't you. You still wanna go after the demon alone. You can't treat us like this."

"Like what?"

"Like children." Sam half-shouted, his frustration showing clearly on his face. It wasn't that he wanted to argue with his dad, he just wanted to be treated as an adult and hunt the demon down together. Afterall, it had killed both his mother and his girlfriend.

"You are my children. I'm trying to keep you safe."

"Dad, all due respect but, uh, that's a bunch of crap." Dean countered shakingly, he wasn't the type to speak up against his dad. Actually, he never spoke up against his dad, but he knew if he didn't now, he would never be able to.

His outburst shocked not only John, but Sam and Leila as well. "Excuse me?" John asked with disbelief, as if he misheard what Dean had said.

"You know what Sammy and I've been hunting. Hell you sent us on a few hunting trips yourself. You can't be that worried about keeping us safe." Dean stated quite honestly.

Leila was quite pleased with the brothers for speaking their minds, John could be stubborn, real stubborn at times. He needed his boys to set him right.

"We're stronger as a family. Dad, we just are. You know it."

Despite his words, John was a stubborn fool who only wanted to keep his children out of danger. However, Leila felt as if there was something he was hiding, something he didn't want Sam and Dean to know. Hell, if she was going to let this past, there was no way.

Most of the vampires followed John's bait, only leaving one or two behind their base. Those were easy to take care of, a swing with a machete left their head rolling on the floor. Poor things didn't even know what hit them.

The vampires out of action, it was simple enough to rescue their "food source" and lead them away from the place. Meanwhile, John was confronting the vampire and his herd, nearly getting the Colt too except the drug on the female vampire he was using as a hostage wore off sooner than he had expected.

Fortunately for him, he sent his sons off with a very rebellious person who fully ignored his order and brought the boys back, taking out the vampires one at a time. That is, until the head vampire got a hold of Sam and Leila was in a bit of a predicament with one of the newly turned vampires, snarling on top of her.

"Don't! I'll break his neck." The head vampire yelled with his arm around Sam's throat. The one on top of Leila grabbed her throat, making her struggle against the grip but it was too strong. "Put the blade down."

"You're gonna die here, quite pathetically. Or maybe we'll take you to increase the family." The woman on top of Leila snarled, keeping just enough pressure on her neck to keep her weak.

Leila let out a strangled laugh, "I don't think so, bitch." She spat out, using what strength she could to stab the woman with a syringe filled with dead man's blood. As she did, a loud gunshot echoed through the night air and she used the distraction to throw the vampire off.

As Leila looked to the source of the noise, the head vampire staggered back, a sigil appearing where the bullet had hit him. John was holding the Colt, one of his arms cradled against him. Dean pulled both Leila and Sam back towards the truck as there was a bright flash of light that seemed to reflect his skeleton and the head vampire fell to his knees.

Neither the vampires or the humans could believe their eyes, another flash of light passed through his body and he slumped to the ground, dead. The Colt worked. It was real. A gun that could kill anything supernatural and now it was in their hands.

What was to come next scared the shit out of Sam and Dean, Leila on the other hand was pretty smug. Back at the motel, as John confronted his sons, she knew he'd let them come along to fight. She could see it in his face that he saw the strength inside his sons. This was a long fight coming, they had the weapon, they had each other, now all they needed was to find the demon.
