005.MEETING THE WENDIGO
Cassidy had long forgotten how long she had been running. Her eye stung, her whole body ached, her hoodie sleeves were shredded, and blood covered her clothing. She finally slowed to a walk and looked behind her for a moment, breath visible in front of her. Her good eye searched the area behind her and she let out a sigh of chaotic relief. She turns back around and presses a hand to her left eye.
She forced it open but for some reason...she couldn't see anything out of it. Just...pitch black. She whimpers and hugs her stuffed dragon tighter to her chest. She gasps when she hears a loud familiar growl of the entitiy that had been chasing her. She stumbles forward and takes off running again.
Cassidy forced her tired legs to move faster than before, though it pained her and if she could've afforded to collapse, she would. She shouts loudly as a thorn tears into the right side of her torso. She looks around quickly before she bolts into a dark cave quickly, she stumbles to behind a rock and presses her back to it.
The growling neared the cave and then stopped at the entrance. Silence lasted for a few minutes before whatever it was let out a loud shriek and vanished. Cassidy peered around the rock and took a few heavy breaths, before laying down on the cold earthy floor. She pulled her knees to her chest and closed her eyes tightly.
"You used to dream...about...the fires..." she pants, hoarsley. "And scream into the night...to find me standing barefoot at your side..." she adds on, her eye fluttering open and closed. She felt warm tears roll down her face and closed her eyes letting sleep steal her away.
Opening her eyes, Cassidy felt her body being pulled along through the leaves, and sticks. She opens up her good eye and looks at the Toothless dragon stuffed animal death gripped in her hand and then allows her gaze to drift to a tall man gripping her ankle and pulling her along. She screams loudly and kicks, thrashing her other foot. The man gasps loudly and turns quickly, his angry gaze staring into her being.
"You little B*TCH." He shouts. Cassidy takes the moment he dropped her ankle to climb to her feet and bolt off running. "HEY." The man yells after her. He takes off running and grabs her hair pulling her back.
"LET GO OF ME!" Cassidy shrieks dropping her stuffed animal and grabbing at his wrists behind her. "LET GOOOOO!" She screams.
"You thought it would be that easy to get away little red?!" The man cackles. Cassidy lifts her aching leg and swings it back, digging her heel into the mans shin, resulting in a loud crack. The man roared in pain as Cassidy bolts to her stuffed animal, scoops him up and keeps running. While she runs, she fumbles with her hood with one hand to pull it up. She pants heavy swinging through trees and before she realizes it, theres nothing under her feet.
With a shriek, she goes rolling down a hill, and blacks out seconds later the last thing she had seen-being a large boulder.
"Hello....?" Cassidy yells out as best she can, laying on the ground. The headache she had was vicious...she pushes herself into a sitting up position. "Please...someone...help...!" She shouts again, her voice breaking. Oh god, how her head hurt..."PLEASE!" She shouts again.
She couldn't see out of her left eye.
Her clothes were covered in blood.
She was probably missing some hair.
Her stuffed animal was ripped.
Her hoodie was ripped.
It was cold.
Her head hurt.
Her body ached.
She was ridiculously tired.
And scared...very, very scared.
"I heard something...I swear I did..." a voice grumbles from nearby. Cassidy gasps and looks around quickly. It wasn't the demons voice...not his.
"Please..." she calls again. She peers around the boulder, and finds herself looking up at a tall beast. Her eye widened a littlw, taking it in. The creature looked to be around 7 feet tall, maybe taller. Standing on hindlegs like a deer, antlers sprouting from its head with a skeleton of a dog of some sort for a face. Teeth like a wolves, and long clawed fingers. She felt her heart race, but...not in fear.
But interest-excitement.
The creature looks down at her and tilts its head.
"Hello..." the creature says sternly. "Are you alright little one?"
Unsure of what to say, Cassidy blurts out-
"Who-What...what are you?"
The creature looks to be taken aback.
"I am...I am Darius...a wendigo...who might you be...?" He asks her.
"My name..." Cassidy found herself trying to remember for a moment. "My name is Cassidy Rose Lewis..." she tells him. "Aren't wendigos...cannibles technically?"
The wendigo-Darius-let out a rough chuckle.
"We do not speak of my past Miss Cassidy." He offers her his clawed hand. Cassidy hesitantly takes it, her hand seemingly miniscule compared to the giant creatures. A loud howl occurs causing Cassidy to gasp and jump looking in its direction. Darius shakes his head and sighs. "What did that idiot do now?"
