Chapter 11 - TRACKING
Clyde Nielsen
I never trust people that easily.
I don't trust people, in general, to be exact.
When I was a kid, the person I thought I could trust the most betrayed me. I grew up unable to trust people because I knew one day, every one of them would leave my side.
Not until I met Luna, who kept her promise like it was her lifeline. She never, not even once, betrayed me or forgot about it. That's why I always want to keep her close.
Not only she kept all her promises, but she was also my sunshine. She's the brightest person that I've ever met. She doesn't hold grudges like I do. She forgives and forgets.
That's why I swore to myself I would be the one who ensured she was happy even though I ended up being the person who broke her. I will never forgive myself for that, and I will live with the guilt until I die.
When she had a split change in the shower, I knew something had happened to her when I wasn't around. I need to fix it, eliminate whoever dared to hurt her. As long as I live, no one can hurt her.
"I want you to tell me everything," I said firmly, and she's been avoiding my eyes since we got out of the shower. "I'm fine, Clyde. You made me nervous, that's all."
"Either you tell me, or I'll dig it without your permission. I'm giving you a chance here." She sat on the sofa, wrapping herself with a blanket that I gave her.
"What are you going to do about it?"
"Let me decide once I hear it. I'll be the judge of it." I can see that she's hesitating. I didn't want to rush her. All I want is for her to tell me. After silence, she shook her head and looked up at me.
"I don't want to remember it. I had enough of trying to move on for years." That made me lean back to the wall. "When did it happen?" I asked. At least I need a timeline. It would be easy for me to investigate, and it would take not even 24 hours to find them.
"Clyde, please." She stood up and walked towards me. "I'm fine now, and I don't want to recall anything about it." She slipped her arms around my waist, hugging me. I could feel her body shaking, and I hugged her tightly so that I could feel her heartbeat against my chest.
"Okay!" After realizing she had hugged me, she pulled away, but I stopped her by the elbow. I took my time to look at her, my finger slipping her blonde strand behind her ear. I checked the time, and it's pretty late.
"Sleep here." She opened her mouth to say something, but she closed it. "What is it?" I asked.
"I need to sleep with the lights on." With that, I led her to my bedroom. I grabbed my grey hoodie and put it on her. "How did you know my size?" She asked about the clothes that I bought for her earlier. After getting out of the shower, I called Mila, my other secretary, to buy some clothes for Luna.
"I know everything about you. Now, I want you to sleep, Butterfly." Luna yawned and nodded. All the lights in the room are on, it's so bright that I don't know how I will sleep later, but she comes first.
Luna lay on the bed, and I tucked her so she won't be cold at night. She closed her eyes, and she wrapped her hand on my index finger.
This reminded me of her when we were young. She always wanted to feel secure, and she did the same thing.
"Good night." I kissed her head after she fell into a deep sleep. I removed my hand from her grip and walked out of my room.
Someone hurt her in the past, and it means it happened between the age of 13 and 20 years old. I knew everything about her starting when she was almost 21 years old because I had my people watch over her and report me back everything.
For seven years, I wasn't able to protect her. She got hurt without me knowing, and all those people had to pay.
I called my right-hand man, Rodion, to investigate while I did my job tracking those people from here.
"Hello, boss. Never thought you'll call me since Luna is in Seattle with you." Rodi was one of the people I sent to keep their eyes on Luna. He's based in London and still has some work there for The Bloodhounds.
"I need you to find me, everyone that got involved in her life between the age of 13 and 20 years old," I said straight to the point. "Okay, I'll look into that. When is my deadline?"
"I need it fast. Give me all the details about everyone. Including all the workers in the Morris household."
"Give me a second, boss. I have some data, and I hope it might give you a glimpse of the information you're looking for." I grabbed my laptop from my computer room and sat in the living room.
"From what we've found after following her around. Luna dropped out of school when she was 17, and Gerald Morris sued the school. For two years, Luna never got out of the house. Her parents visited her a couple of times in that time."
"Okay, look into it and report me back right away." I ended the call and turned on my laptop to review Luna's file I'd collected for years.
I looked through her records and found nothing between 20 until now which things happened when she's in high school. This is going to be interesting, it's been a while since I tortured someones.
My phone rang taking my attention away from my laptop, and it was Kayden.
"Why are you-"
"Headquarters, now!"
