Theresa Whittemore always knew that there was something off about Beacon Hills, California, she could just never put her finger on what.

She'd grown up in the small town, yet it still unsettled her almost daily. It wasn't that she was scared, she was simply suspicious of it. She never knew why that was. Her older brother, Jackson, always told her she was crazy or just imagining it. 

Her birth parents abandoned her when she was a baby and she went into the foster system before she was adopted by the Whittemores when she was 3. She loved them like they were her real parents, and to her, they were. They were the only parents she'd ever known. Jackson, however was a different story. When they were younger, he was amazing to her. Always sweet and helpful. But as they got older, he got meaner and meaner. He was still protective of her and would kill for her if she ever needed him to, but he was cold. Scary, almost. Honestly, it really wasn't until he started dating her best friend, Lydia Martin, that he started the behavior.

Stiles Stilinski had been pining after Lydia Martin his whole life. He'd always wanted her. From the second he set eyes on her in the third grade. He never noticed the blonde girl who was always mere steps behind her. He had seen Tess, obviously, he just never liked her in the same way he did with Lydia. As she got older, Stiles started to like her more and more. He didn't know why, He'd never even talked to her. He was just drawn to her.

Their sophomore year of high school, they get paired in chemistry. Tess had never been good at chemistry, or any type of science, really. Stiles was. He agreed to tutor her, wanting to get close to her. Tess thought that it was just a ploy to get closer to Lydia, as he said it was, but it wasn't. All he wanted was to really know the blonde girl who'd always managed to fade into the shadows of Lydia Martin.

TESS:
Stiles, this entire thing was just 
a plot for you to get Lydia, why 
are you so pissed off?

STILES:
Who says I still want Lydia?

✸     I love impusively publishing fics, it's so fun. Hopefully I'll actually update this. I started rewatching Teen Wolf for fall and Stiles has always been my pookie bear, hence the fic.
