"A long, long time ago there was a prophe-".

"Are you telling me a fairy tale".

"Quiet! A fairy tale starts with Once upon a time".

I gesture her to continue.

"Anyways, as I was saying, there was a prophecy that one day a halfer the lowest of the social class will arrive and join the last iceweaver in fight against the royals".

"Do the royals know this?", I asked.

"Of course they do".

I sighed. "Then why do they continue to transform us, humans".

Adira stretched out her two fingers towards me. "There's two reasons. One, that prophecy has been told hundredths and hundredths of years ago, people started to doubt it will ever come to pass. Two, the royals think if transforming humans into vamps, they are able to have them under control. They think they won't dare rise against them".

"So basically they are trying to keep peace between them and the halfers".

  Adira nodded her head.

"That's absurd. I wonder if that halfer is already here- Do you believe it will come to pass?".

"The prophecy? I don't know. Its been so long, people stopped talking about it".

"Are you guys talking about the prophecy?".

Our heads quickly turned towards the door. Duncan had four bags. Two on each hand. I quickly came to open the curtains wider for him to enter.

"Thanks", he said setting the bags on my bed. Duncan then took a look around the room. "Confining".

Adira crossed her arms, "well, we regulars don't have the privilege you assassins do".

He wiggled his eyebrows at her, giving her a grin.

She rolled her eyes, and I had to press my lips together to hold in the laughter.

Facing me, Duncan pointed to the bags. "There's some sandwiches, fruits, cake, chips, beverages- They can last you for at least three days, maybe five if you don't eat that much".

I gave him a genuine smile. "Thank you". My stomach grumbled for what seemed the million time. Stuffing my hand in the bag I pulled out a sandwich and engulfed it whole. It was immensely satisfying.

"I think she's half cavewoman too", Adira whispered to Duncan.

My ears perked up like a dog. I was able to hear the whisper clearly. As if it was told to me and not Duncan.

Duncan chuckled.

"I heard that", I said in a mouth full.

Adira lifted one eyebrow, "Oh I thought you were turning the vamp side off".

"I am, I mean it wasn't intentional it just happened".

Adira and Duncan looked at each other with slight smiles.

"Ugh please", I said ignoring them and digging into the bags to see what else Duncan bought.

It didn't pass at least another ten minute when Adira said, "it's time".

I choked on a piece of chocolate cake I was eating.

  "Time for what?", Duncan asked.

"Jax wants her at this very minute", Adira replied. She got to her feet and ripped the other half of the cake off my hand and stuffed it into the bag. I pouted my lips.

  "My cake".

She then took all four bags and stuffed them under the bed. "No one must see that you are eating solid food".

"She can't go!", Duncan said. "Do you even know what he will do to her?!".

"I don't have a choice Duncan. She and I must obey him".

"What will he do to me?", I asked. They both ignored my question and continued talking.

"I will have a talk with him". I can hear the desperation in his voice.

Why does he even care so much?

"Like that will do anything", Adira mouthed while pulling over her sweatshirt.

Duncan paced back and fourth on the small room. I stared at him the whole time.

Adira quickly went over to her wardrobe and starting to search through her clothes. "Here", she said pulling out a short red silk night gown with white trimming on the bottom.

When Duncan turned around his eyes seemed to flare in fire, as he ripped the nightgown off Adira's hand. "She's not wearing that!".

"Duncan it's okay, don't worry", I told him.

"What! How couldn't I? You don't know what you are getting yourself into".

  "Do I have a choice?".

"I will go and talk to him. I told you girls let me handle this!".

"No, Duncan, just- I don't want you to get in trouble".

His anger lingered regardless of my calm voice trying to keep him at ease.
But I myself was afraid too. My fingers curled into a fist, nails digging into my palm.

Adira retrieved the nightgown from Duncan's grip, and extended it towards me. I stood up and hesitantly took a step. I noticed my feet tremble as I took the gown from her hand. I looked up at Duncan and his eyes flashed down at me with indignance and anger. He stormed out the room.

"I'll wait outside", Adira said softly, giving me a pity look. I nodded back at her.

I removed the clothes I was wearing and changed into the night gown. I slipped into my sneakers and let my hair fall down, wildly and untamed. Making me look a lot like the girls and their weird hairstyle. I sprayed on me a small amount of perfume Adira had on a stand. My hand trembled as I tried to set it back. I missed and the bottle came crashing to the floor. The liquid flowed down towards me. With a few tears escaping my eyes, I quickly took a cloth and bend down. Wiping the liquid as fast as I could and setting the broken pieces of the bottle aside.

I exited the room, fidgeting with my fingers. Duncan could not bare to look at me at all.

"Here put this on". Adira place over me a trench coat.

"Thanks", I said taking the coat and properly putting it over me. I scanned Duncan's eyes in order to meet his gaze but he ignored me completly.

We made our way down the hall. My legs twitched, fighting the impulse to whirl around and sprint down the hall away from everyone and everything.

We entered the lounge.

I didn't received much stare from anyone anymore. Which was a relief. Jax's chin was resting on his hand. He grinned once he caught eye of me. We stopped short once we thought we were close enough. Adira stepped aside, giving me the pass.

Taking a deep breath in, I took a step forward before feeling a large hand grip my wrist. I turned around to see Duncan's eyes look at me with such intense concern. I heard Adira gasp, and my eyes shifted back at Jax. He was standing up from his chair. That was a forbidden act and it could cost Duncan's  life.

I turned again to give Duncan my attention. "Please Duncan", I pleaded.

"I just want you to becareful okay".

"I will, now please just go".

Duncan had finally let go of me, taking steps back. Jax quickly came marching down the steps. Taking my hand in his, he kissed the back of it. Suddenly in a blink of an eye he was behind me.  I turned around to witness Jax's fist clash into Duncan's cheek. Duncan went sweeping atleast ten feet across the floor. I covered my mouth with my hand in order to not let my scream escape my mouth.

"Touch her again and I swear I'll rip your throat!", he scowled.

Non of the people in the room dare stare at the commotion happening. Some took a quick glance and continue their conversation as if it wasn't happening.

Jax extended his hand towards me. I raised my head high, taking his hand. I wanted to pretend I didn't care but truly all I ever wanted was to run to Duncan's side and help him. I peeked in the corner of my eye to see Adira rush to his side. My heart was aching so much.
