Lan Xichen had long since known that Hua Ying had gone through Tonglu and he was part of the reason Hua Ying was so upset. He knew he had a long way to go before he could even get a pinch of trust from Hua Ying again, but he was going to do what he could for the sake of his brother. He loved Hua Ying and Xichen didn't really have an issue with that either. He was just now a bit more concerned that Hua Ying is now a supreme ghost king and had no features of being half god anymore. Lan Xichen could just feel the cold aura emanating from the youth.
"I am sorry I was not the best to you in the past but I hope you will give me the opportunity to try and make up for it," Lan Xichen said.
"Perhaps," Hua Ying said, "I am here with my parents and I will leave when they do. I am not sure how often they will come here. My A'Die is also going to help me adjust to my new status."
"If I may ask, did we really push you to such an extent to go on that suicidal mission?" Xichen asked.
"The mountain was going to open soon and it aroused and excited ghosts. I am a ghost, Zewu Jun. My emotions were what drove me to go through Tonglu. Besides, you should be proud, I made out," Hua Ying said.
"Yeah, but was it worth it?" Xichen asked.
"Yes, and if you want to provoke me, by all means go ahead. I can destroy this entire mountain within a few seconds," Hua Ying shared, "I am now a calamity."
Lan Xichen and Wangji's faces paled from hearing Hua Ying say that. They really had their work cut out for them. They had to try to make it up to Hua Ying without upsetting him. Hua Ying let out a bone chilling laugh before continuing his walk.
"Hua Ying," Wangji said catching up to him, "what will it take for you to forgive me?"
"I don't know," Hua Ying said and looked at Wangji, stopping in his tracks again, "you were the one who told me to take a hike."
"I know, and I shouldn't have," Wangji said, "I just didn't want to believe my brother would act that way. I did not mean to take it out on you when it was your job. It's been five years since then. Can we please just, try to start over?"
"Hua Ying," Xie Lian said as he and Hua Cheng have caught up to the two, "you can still work this all out with him. Remember how much you love and care for him."
Hua Ying sighed, "that was five years ago," Hua Ying said, "I do not love or desire anything anymore."
Hearing Hua Ying say that hurt Wangji quiet bad. He never expected that Hua Ying would come to a point where he does not feel or desire anything. Wangji closed his eyes, "is this what you want?" He asked.
Hua Ying looked at Wangji who looked like he was about to burst into tears. He sighed again, "if you want to try we can but I cannot guarantee anything."
"Wangji, we spoke to your uncle, he is allowing you to come spend time with us if you wish to travel with the three of us. Maybe it will give you two some time together again," Hua Cheng said, "we would mainly be at Puqi, but Hua Ying would spend a couple hours a day with me at Ghost City to train. Gege would use those couple hours to train you, Wangji."
Wangji nodded, "I will come," he said, "if this is the best way for Hua Ying and I to fix this."
"Good, we will leave in the morning so you have time to get the things you need," Xie Lian said, "Hua Ying, be so kind as to continue to spend time with Wangji. Go with him to Jingshi and we will see you in the morning."
"Are you suggesting I spend the night at his place?" Hua Ying asked.
"You technically don't need sleep anymore but you can sleep too. You should spend time with Wangji," Hua Cheng said.
"Fine," Hua Ying said and looked at Wangji, "can we go?"
Wangji nodded, "I will see you both tomorrow."
"Have a good night you two," Xie Lian said, "and Hua Ying...behave."
"Yes Baba," Hua Ying said.
Hua Ying and Wangji walked to the Jingshi in silence. For some reason, Hua Ying could feel Wangji's emotions. Something like this has never happened before and he wondered why that was. He could feel Wangji's heartache, he could feel Wangji's sorrow and what surprises him most, is that he could feel that Wangji felt alone.
That pain sunk deep into Hua Ying and it reminded him of his youth. He remembered living in Puqi Shrine with his parents and anytime he saw the neighboring children, he would try to go play but they excluded him. He remembered some of the children who had dogs for pets and they would let them chase Hua Ying around. He remembered the infections he got from those nasty bites he always got. Xie Lian had talked to the neighbors and told them of what was happening. The parents did scold their children but it did very little. Hua Ying would then just stick to the boundaries of his house. His parents worried about him, worried that he wouldn't get any social experience.
Xie Lian had Ban Yue come and spend time with him. Ban Yue was actually very happy to spend time with him. She taught Hua Ying some fighting skills and they spent time time playing games. Pei Xiu would also tag along with them. The two ended up being his only two friends really. Xie Lian wished that his son had more friends but if he was okay with Pei Xiu and Ban Yue, then he would be okay with it too. After all, there were not many children in the heavens and it was difficult to find decent ones from Ghost City.
Hua Cheng was constantly worried for Hua Ying. He knew first hand about bullying. The difference was, he and Xie Lian were not abusive like Hua Cheng's parents were, and they cared for their son. Hua Ying was actually in tears by the time he and a Wangji reached the Jingshi. Wangji didn't notice at first as he stepped inside first. He turned to Hua Ying who was standing in the doorway with his hands to his sides and balled into fists. Tears were falling from his cheeks.
"Hua Ying, what happened?" Wangji asked.
Hua Ying snapped out of his daze and looked at Wangji. He shook his head and wiped his tears away, "it's nothing," he said and walked inside, closing the door behind him, "where do you want me? I don't need much."
"I have my bedroom or there is the day bed there," Wangji pointed.
Hua Ying nodded and just walked over to the day bed and fell back on it, "this is fine."
"Did you want anything?" Wangji asked.
"No," Hua Ying said, "...thank you."
Wangji just left him alone after that. He went to his room to start packing up some of his things so he was ready to head out the following day. Hua Ying watched him disappear before taking out Chenqing and just laid there on the day bed twirling it around. He was using it as a distraction as he wanted to get those painful memories out of his head.
