05: Edge of a dream
YONSEI UNIVERSITY
GANGNAM, SEOUL
Jane's body was feeling utterly weak, she was settled on her seat biting her lips, holding herself back from letting out those painful screams.
"Hey, what happened? You okay?" a warm hand pressed on her back, making her jerk up suddenly. Her head started spinning and she instantly regretted it. She lazily looked up to meet two hazel brown eyes.
"Scarlet?"
The girl with short raven hair sat down and scooted near Jane, she looked concerned.
"You look so pale, is everything okay?" Scarlet asked.
"Nothing, just a slight headache," Jane smiled through the pain, assuring her friend. Scarlet nodded but then suddenly jumped in excitement.
"Are you done with the packing? Oh my god, I'm so excited, everyone's gonna be there!"
"Everyone?" Jane asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Of course, the camping trip is quite famous so no one misses it unless they're a fool!" Scarlet rolled her eyes and Jane chuckled at her friend's remark.
She just wanted to know if Jimin was included in everyone, and unknowingly her eyes started searching for him. Just when their eyes met, the intensity in his eyes grew darker like he was long waiting for that moment. An arrogant smirk lifted up his lips, he nibbled on his lower lip. His gaze changed into a seductive one, eyeing her up and down and her stomach tingled.
She had a weakness for him, after all, he was her mate. She was aching for his touch, longing for his kiss. He was something she couldn't resist. Whenever she thought she was in control, he came right in front of her and painted her mind with such sinful pictures.
She rubbed her thighs together unknowingly. His dark eyes bored into her and then he scoffed mockingly at her low self-control. She let out a frustrated sigh, putting her head down again.
"He's getting it wrong, I'm not a horny bitch!" she cursed in her mind. He was her mate, it's normal that she was unable to stay away from him. He was meant to be her deity whom she'd worship. That's why these sensations always arise, because she was still a virgin, and still not his . . .
And over everything, he was a vampire lord. Seducing her like that, it was impossible for her to not react to his seduction. It was making her condition much worse. But no matter what, pleasure is nothing without love and she would never surrender herself for his lust.
It's the delicate balance she craved, a sweet heart that would beat inside the man who would force her against walls and doors and would like the feeling of her hair wrapping around his hands.
Jimin would have to realise who she was. If he wanted her, he'd have to remember her, he'd have to accept her, he'd have to love his one and only mate made by the ultimate goddess.
Jane craned her neck, looking for his eyes once again, only to find him already staring at her. He winked, followed by a cheeky smile and she mouthed . . .
"Keep staring, you're not getting it anyway!"

The day of the camp arrived shortly. Honestly, Jimin was not in the mood to travel so far. But there was something that made him curious about that camp as if something was going to happen which he had no idea why he was not feeling good about it.
As he entered the bus, he saw the girl who he remembered as the club girl, sitting alone. He was still confused why she called him her mate because he wasn't feeling any attachment to her. Well, except her body. He couldn't lie, she was sexy, she made him crave her touch.
She was not even a vampire then how was it possible for him to be mated with her? He thought she just found him attractive. Well, it wasn't the first time someone felt like that, he was used to girls wooing around him. It wasn't his fault that he was born handsome.
He marched towards her and plopped down on the seat beside her. She turned to look at him surprised, more like panicked by their sudden closeness.
Even though he never wanted to admit it, having her close to him always eased his mind and he felt foreign with her.

They didn't utter a single word throughout the journey. Maybe she was still angry with him for yesterday's incident? He wasn't sure. In fact, he was shocked himself, he never lost his patience so easily before. But with her, it was different. The very idea of being attracted to her was overwhelming. He had no idea if it was her presence or only a mere hormonal need.
Everyone in the bus was absorbed in themselves. There was soft music playing, it was relaxing. He closed his eyes just to open them again when he felt a sudden weight on his shoulder. Her head, she fell asleep. Her touch was so smooth that his scalp prickled up.
When he was with her, his vampire instinct felt unsettled, he felt his canines harder to get back in. Like his inner self prickled with an unwavering need. His head throbbed and the color of his eyes kept flickering to crimson. But keeping everything aside, he was trying his best to not budge even a little so that she could sleep peacefully.
He noticed she looked tired and pale, completely opposite from the first time he saw her. She looked so bold and glamorous at that time. She was still beautiful but a little lost.
He felt his eyes getting heavy, he was trying his best to fight the urge to close them but it felt like someone kept calling him, he heard whispers of his own name in his ear and dozed off.
When he opened his eyes again, he witnessed a battlefield in front of him. The environment somehow felt weird and the ominous amount of blood scent in the environment was intoxicating for him. But wait, wasn't he on the bus a while ago? Then what was he doing here?
"Father, my mate!"
He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a girl screaming her lungs out, begging to stop the war. He couldn't see her face properly but a feeling of unexpected sadness and worry crawled up his skin.
He saw an arrow traveling toward her, his own heart skipped a beat. Suddenly, he felt like saving her. He felt a pang in his heart as if he was failing to do something, he wasn't sure what it was.
But the urge to run forward to embrace her, to protect her was too much for him to settle down casually. He felt like running to her, to hug her so that nobody could ever lay a hand on her.
It felt like if something happened to her, the world would collapse.
"Hey Jimin!"
"Jimin, wake up!" he felt a hand on his shoulder shaking him violently. And as if someone pushed him away from the attachment of that world, he jerked up. He hurriedly opened his eyes with a loud gasp and took heavy gulps of air as if he was suffocating.
"Hey, bro! We've arrived," the man said while looking at his phone but when he turned his gaze on him, he looked shocked and confused.
"What are you looking at? Is there something on my face?" Jimin asked, getting his backpack but the other kept staring at him with narrowed eyes. He raised one eyebrow, questioning the younger's weird expressions.
"Why are you crying, dude? Did you see a nightmare or something?" the younger asked and Jimin's hands traveled over his cheeks almost unconsciously. He felt the dampness on his fingertips and questions flooded his mind.
He was crying? But why was he crying? Was it because of that dream? That girl? Who was that girl to him? Why did that dream feel so real? He turned to look at the empty seat beside him, where did that club girl go?
"Jungkook . . . where is my seatmate?" Jimin asked.
"Probably gone!" Jungkook replied in monotone with a shrug but Jimin's eyebrows twitched. How could she leave him here by himself? He huffed out a breath feeling a tinge of hurt and anger. Just to question himself the very next moment . . .
"Why am I even angry about it? Ugh, I should really stop thinking too much!"

The night brought such a silence that the crackle of the campfire was all that could be heard, a natural music in the black-duvet night. Flames sent red sparks dancing into the breeze, and the river sat close on a mossy log. His face was toasted warm, mesmerised, relaxed. The smoke twirled heavenward, charming his worries away.
They all were gathered around the campfire, enjoying the night, far away from the hotel with some tents here. Some of them were singing while a guy played the guitar silently. Not even caring about the gossip going around him, he was absorbed in the music, his fingers dancing over the strings. His milky skin shined in the moonlight while his black raven hair got absorbed in the night, it was fascinating.
Jimin patted his back, encouraging him. The man smiled slightly showing his gums and then went back to being absorbed with the melody. Everything was fine until his eye landed on the club girl. He never knew her name or he never got the chance to ask for it, maybe.
But her name was the least of his concerns at that moment, he narrowed his eyes looking at her all snuggled up in a man he had no idea about who the fuck he was. The man was attractive for sure, a lean figure with hazel brown hair and a chiseled jawline, he had a perfect proportion of everything in him. Unknowingly, seeing them together, his veins fumed up, jolting upwards.
"She was all flirty to me yesterday and now clinging onto any other boy," he murmured to himself and then saw her standing up with a small scarf around her.
"She's feeling cold? Well it's not that cold and the breeze is mild, is she okay? She looks pale though," these were the thoughts running through his mind while he stared intensely at her every move.
She went in the direction of the counter filled with drinks while rubbing her hands together. He felt the need to go ask her, the urge to follow her and that's what he did.
"Yoongi hyung, I'll be back," he informed the guitarist friend while placing a hand on his shoulder while the latter just nodded at him.
"Where, bro?" but the younger one beside him looked tensely at him.
"Just going to get a drink, be right back."
