02: Miles separate us
"My mate!"
She screamed making the swords freeze at her sudden appearance and rushed her steps toward the very middle of the battleground.
"What are you doing here? Royal women are not allowed in the battleground. Don't you know that, Jane?" the older man ran towards her while yelling. The soldiers circled them, guarding their precious Princess and King.
"You're the only heiress to this Kingdom, your life matters!" he scolded, looking at her mud-stained gown and trembling figure.
"Father, if I had followed those rules, I would've eventually died!" she exclaimed, huffing out a breath but the King was confused at her words and feared the surroundings.
"Take her back inside!" he commanded in a firm voice and pushed her back. He didn't want to lose his one and only daughter.
"No, Father! Listen to me, please!" struggling in the grip of the guards, she yelled her heart out, "Father, my mate!"
Listening to her sudden remark, the old man stopped in his tracks and turned around, running back to her.
"What happened, Morgenstern? Wanna surrender?" suddenly, a sarcastic laugh filled the surroundings when an old man in royal armor with his sword shining in his hands emerged from the back, followed by another young man.
"Who, Jane? Where?" ignoring the unwanted presence, Jane's father turned towards her, demanding an answer with an intense yet concerned voice.
That's when her eyes met his.
The weather changed, ominous and black dark clouds drifted over the blood-soaked ground, a flash of forked lightning and a great clap of thunder came close upon each other. The wind was sighing and thrashing in the treetops boughs moaned.
A bolt of lightning tore across the sky and a peal of thunder followed by a shower of rain. The sky above was full of tumultuous, dark and ragged clouds as if nature wanted to tell the story ahead itself. Everything felt like paused when she looked into his dark eyes, his glorious face now shining in the dim light, all wet from the rain.
"Him! He's my mate!" the Princess exclaimed, raising her hand and the sound of loud gasps filled the air when everyone looked at the Princess pointing her hand at none other than the Prince of Busan.
"Have you lost your mind, goddess? He's my son, the son of the King of Busan! The son of the Vampire Lord, the ultimate heir to my domain! His mate will be an elegant Baroness, a lady Vampire, not a ruthless goddess. Oh, wait, a sex goddess like you!" King Park spat, a scoff leaving his mouth in no time.
He was right. She was indeed one. The women of her entire bloodline were named such because they worshiped their mates in such a way. They were bound to do it, her ancestors pledged it. It was a thing that they were proud of being pure, they devoted their entire life to their mates. But the way he said such things, it felt more like an insult rather than the meaning it held within.
"Blow the horns! This war ends here, we can't fight with our Princess' mate's Kingdom," with the command of their King, loud horns were blown.
"Mate's kingdom? My son was never her mate! Shut the fuck up with your filthy lies," King Park furiously turned his head over his shoulder, looking at the young man standing beside him.
"Am I right, Jimin?" he asked his son.
Hearing such a furious voice of his father, the Prince swallowed hard as his Adam's apple bobbed up and down while his eyes brimmed with tears.
"I . . . I am her mate," he whispered lightly, words coming out almost inaudible but enough for his father to hear.
The rain was pouring heavily, drenching them all. But not caring about anything, Jane ran to her longing love while pushing the guards away but her steps halted when King Park raised his sword, stopping her from stepping even near his son.
"He's not your mate!" he warned while gritting his teeth ferociously.
"Stop it for the sake of our children at least! They found each other as their longing mates, you can't tear them apart now!" stepping near her daughter, King Morgenstern growled loud.
"They're the only heir and heiress to our Kingdoms. Is hate and enmity so important to you that you're ready to sacrifice your own child?" the concern for his daughter and her mate was clearly reflecting in his voice but the other man was not ready to accept it.
"I will never accept her as the Queen of my domain!" he glared at the man, digging his sword in the ground aggressively.
King Morgenstern, "Stop with the stubbornness! My daughter matters to me and I will never allow her to be in pain! You are well aware that if they ever got separated now after recognising each other, the pain will eventually kill both of them. Their hearts will freeze with time and even if one of them died, the other won't be able to live either!"
Jane's eyes teared up looking at her father's efforts, her grip on his hand tightened.
"You want them to die together?" King Morgenstern asked with pain clearly evident in every word he spoke.
"Get over it! Your hatred will swallow you one day! And after all, you hate me, they got nothing to do with it," he yelled at King Park, trying to make him understand how big of a disaster he was choosing.
But the other laughed mockingly, his eyes turned dark crimson, an evil smirk pulling its way on his lips, showing his sharp canines.
"Then why not let them be together? Let's see what happens," with that, he ordered his Army to attack again.
The vampires rushed over the unalarmed soldiers in a moment as fast as wind, the chaos started once again with the Royal Princess and Prince still in the battleground. The Strike of the swords once again enlightened, the splits of skin and blood gushing out of it was the only scene in their sight.
Ignoring the situation in front of him, Jimin made his way to his long-awaited love to engulf her in his embrace. The only thing in his mind was to feel her warmth near him. And he did, he ran to her and embraced her - taking her scent in as soon as he reached her, not wanting to know or think about the consequences.
But King Park became even more furious to see his son declining his orders. He ordered one of his men to kill the Princess. The lightning flashed with a loud thunder when the man shot an arrow at her.
But as it's said: Love chooses the one who is willing to sacrifice themselves. Love is true when it's selfless, same as how the sun loves the moon - dies every night to let it glow to its fullest.
Before anyone could react or do something, an arrow was pierced right through Jimin's chest, blood stained the fine black fabric of his chest and King Park's eyes widened, looking at his son falling down to the ground. It all happened in a flash when Jimin turned himself right at the moment, sacrificing himself for the sake of his love, to protect his one and only mate.
His eyes turned wide himself, tears finally falling. He looked down at the arrow pierced right through his heart and then lifted his eyes to look at his father, unable to believe what his only Father just did.
Jane's hand shook, her lips trembled and a scream of agony left her mouth.
"No! Love!"
