Chapter 53: Family Brunch Send-Off
The morning after the wedding, the celebration continued with a family brunch at the resort where many of their guests were staying. The sun was shining, casting a warm glow over the outdoor patio where tables were set with tropical floral arrangements, fresh fruit platters, and an array of breakfast dishes.
Natalia sat beside Jey, still basking in the happiness of the previous night. She wore a light, flowy dress, her makeup minimal, while Jey rocked a casual button-down and shorts, looking relaxed but undeniably happy.
"Man, I'm still full from last night," Jimmy groaned, rubbing his stomach as he reached for a plate of pancakes.
"You still eating, though," Solo pointed out, shaking his head.
Galina laughed, taking a sip of her coffee. "You know he never turns down food."
Malachi sat between Natalia and Jey, happily munching on a piece of toast while chatting with Joelle about the wedding.
"I liked the dancing," Malachi said, his face lighting up. "And the cake!"
Joelle nodded in agreement. "The cake was so good."
Natalia smiled, running her fingers through Malachi's curls. "I'm glad you had fun, baby."
As the food was served, conversations flowed naturally. Roman raised his coffee mug in Jey's direction. "So, where exactly are you two going?"
Jey smirked, leaning back in his chair. "Somewhere private, peaceful... no interruptions."
"Basically, don't call them," Naomi joked, nudging Natalia playfully.
Natalia chuckled. "Exactly. We need at least a few days of just us before real life kicks back in."
Jimmy grinned. "Well, don't worry about Malachi. He's gonna be spoiled rotten while y'all are gone."
"Yeah," Joelle added, nodding seriously. "We have a whole list of fun stuff planned."
Natalia gave Malachi a kiss on the forehead. "You're gonna have so much fun, baby. And Mommy and Daddy will call you every day."
"Okay!" Malachi beamed, already excited about the idea of spending time with his cousins.
As brunch wrapped up, Jey stood, stretching. "Alright, y'all, it's about that time."
A chorus of groans and playful protests followed.
"Damn, already?" Jimmy complained.
"We just got used to calling her Mrs. Fatu," Solo added with a smirk.
Natalia laughed, shaking her head. "You'll see us soon enough."
One by one, they hugged their family, sharing final goodbyes before their honeymoon. Natalia held Malachi close for a long moment, whispering sweet words to him before finally letting him go.
Jey dabbed at his eyes dramatically. "Be good, little man."
Malachi giggled. "You too, Daddy."
With one last wave, Jey and Natalia headed toward their car, ready to begin the next chapter of their lives as husband and wife.
