Natalia sat on the patio of Roman and Galina's house, sipping a cup of tea as she watched Malachi and Joelle playing in the backyard. The sun was starting to set, casting a golden glow over the property. It was peaceful-something she had come to appreciate when she was with Jey's family. They had welcomed her with open arms, made her feel like she belonged in a way she hadn't felt in a long time.

And that's why she was here.

Roman walked outside a few moments later, taking a seat across from her. "Galina said you wanted to talk to me," he said, studying her with his usual calm intensity.

Natalia nodded, suddenly feeling a little nervous. "Yeah, I did." She took a deep breath, setting her cup down. "I've been thinking a lot about the wedding, about who's going to stand with us, and..." She paused, exhaling slowly before meeting his eyes. "I don't have my parents in my life anymore. They won't be there to walk me down the aisle."

Roman's expression softened slightly, and Natalia could see he was already catching on.

"I don't want to walk alone," she continued. "And there's only one person I can think of who I'd trust to be by my side."

Roman leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. "You want me to walk you down the aisle?"

Natalia nodded. "You've been like a big brother to me since I came back into Jey's life. You've looked out for me, for Malachi. You've made me feel like family. And if you're willing... I'd be honored if you'd walk with me."

For a moment, Roman didn't say anything, just studied her with an unreadable expression. Then, finally, he exhaled, a small smile breaking through his normally stoic demeanor.

"I'd be honored, Nati."

Relief and gratitude washed over her, and she felt her eyes sting with emotion. "Thank you, Roman."

He reached across the table, giving her hand a firm squeeze. "You're family. Always."

And just like that, everything felt even more right.
