Chapter 39: Brotherhood and Forgiveness

Jey sat across from his brothers, arms crossed over his chest as he stared down at the table. The weight of the past few weeks sat heavy on his shoulders. He never thought he'd be in this position-questioning the loyalty of the two men who had been by his side his entire life.

Jimmy and Solo sat quietly, waiting. They knew this conversation had to happen, but neither of them rushed to fill the silence.

Jey finally exhaled, rubbing a hand down his face. "I ain't gon' lie, man... this whole thing messed me up." His voice was quieter than usual, but the frustration was still there. "I was out here thinkin' I had another kid, tryna do the right thing, just to find out it was one of y'all?" He shook his head. "I ain't know how to handle that."

Jimmy sighed, guilt flashing in his eyes. "We get it, Uce. And we ain't expect you to just move past it overnight."

Solo, always the quietest of the three, finally spoke. "We didn't know, Jey." His voice was low, steady. "If we had, you wouldn't have found out like that."

Jey clenched his jaw. He wanted to be angry. He had been angry. But now, sitting here with them, the reality of it all settled in. This wasn't just about betrayal-it was about family, about trust, about figuring out how to move forward.

"You really ain't know?" he asked, his eyes flicking between them.

Jimmy shook his head. "Nah, man. Alexis never said a word. If she had..." He sighed, leaning forward. "I swear, we would've handled it different."

Jey studied them both, trying to decide if he could believe them. His gut told him they were telling the truth.

"I ain't wanna cut y'all off," Jey admitted. "I just... needed time."

Solo nodded. "We get that."

Jimmy hesitated before speaking again. "We just don't wanna lose you over this, Uce. We brothers before anything."

Jey exhaled sharply, running a hand over his head. "Yeah. We are." He sat back, finally looking both of them in the eye. "I ain't sayin' I'm over it completely... but I ain't tryna stay mad forever either."

Jimmy cracked a small smile. "That's a start."

Solo gave a nod, his way of acknowledging the progress.

Jey glanced over at the other table, where Natalia and the rest of the women sat, keeping an eye on them but giving them space. He knew she had set this up, knew she wanted him to find peace in this.

And maybe, just maybe, he was ready to start moving forward.

"Alright," Jey finally said, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "Y'all gon' buy me a drink or what?"

Jimmy laughed, slapping the table. "Now that's the Jey I know."

Solo signaled for the waiter, and just like that, the first step toward healing had been taken.
