Chapter 25: A Quick Detour
As Natalia stood in front of the mirror, still admiring the lace gown, her phone buzzed on the boutique's side table. Naomi picked it up and glanced at the screen.
"It's Jimmy," she said, handing it over.
Natalia answered, putting the call on speaker. "Hey, Jimmy, what's up?"
"Yo, I'm outside," Jimmy said. "Jey's busy, so he asked me to scoop up Malakai for a little boys' day."
Natalia raised a brow. "Boys' day?"
Joelle gasped. "Uncle Jimmy, can I come?"
Jimmy chuckled. "Course, baby girl. We 'bout to hit the arcade, grab some food, maybe let Malakai get his first taste of bowling."
Natalia smiled. "Well, Malakai's gonna love that. Give me a second, and I'll bring him out."
As she changed back into her clothes, Galina and Almia helped gather her things. Naomi smirked. "See? We got girl time, and the boys got their thing. Win-win."
A few minutes later, Natalia stepped outside the boutique, where Jimmy was waiting by his car, leaning against the door with a grin.
"There's my nephew!" he called out as Malakai ran toward him. Jimmy scooped him up effortlessly, tossing him playfully in the air before settling him on his hip. "You ready to hang with the big dogs, little man?"
Malakai giggled. "Yeah!"
Natalia shook her head, amused. "No sugar, no staying out too late, and don't let him talk you into anything crazy."
Jimmy gasped dramatically. "Me? Crazy? Sis, I'm a responsible uncle."
Joelle snorted as she climbed into the back seat. "Yeah, okay."
Jimmy gave Natalia a mock-offended look before winking. "Alright, we'll see y'all later. Don't buy out the whole store."
Naomi grinned. "No promises."
With that, Jimmy buckled Malakai in, hopped into the driver's seat, and pulled off, leaving Natalia watching them go with a smile.
Galina nudged her. "Alright, back inside. We're not done yet."
Natalia laughed, following them back into the boutique. Today was about her and the wedding, but she loved knowing Malakai was already so surrounded by love.
