Blood Stained Dirt
She laughed. She smiled. She twirled. The music seemed to glide around her as the club pounded out beats one after another. Teasing one man by grinding her butt, she caught another blond haired man's eye across the floor. She winked his way, lifting a hand to stroke through her past shoulder length hair. The brown lengths fell forward and framed her face as her eyes twinkled. Turning her head away, she went back to paying attention to the stranger she was with. His hands were on her hips, threatening to go underneath her red silk top. She grabbed his hands, turned and winked at him, and mouthed that she was going to the ladies room. The man wasted no time and turned towards some other girl, as the music didn't miss a beat. She sauntered to the other side of the club towards the bar.
"You didn't look too happy there." She laughed and slammed her hand on the counter. The bar tender looked up and nodded, recognizing her and put in front of her a glass of water.
"What could I say. I am easily jealous, Cassandra." The blond haired man turned to her with a twinkle in his green eyes and he laughed at her raised eyebrow. She took a sip of the water and set it down on the bar and put her hands on his chest, flattening herself against his body. She was a head shorter than him, even in her heels. She looked up at him with a pout.
"Well, Kristopher, darling, you have yet to tell me why we are here." She grabbed his head and lowered it to hers to seal his mouth. One hand went around her waist, the other to her jean short clad butt. He groaned.
"Why do I take you on business with me? You brother is going to have my head some day." She stepped back and laughed.
"Well, you and my brother shouldn't be keeping secrets from me about what your so called business work is." She smiled up at him and grabbed the water again. "Besides, you are both only 23! What work could you possibly be in that you could not even let little ol' Cassie in on the secret? I wouldn't tell... Much."
Kris lashed out faster than her eyes could move and he grabbed the wrist before she fully brought the glass to her lips. She stared dangerously up at him, still poised to let the water drizzle past her lips. He leaned close and bit her lip. He brought his lips up to her ear and breathed down her neck, sending shivers to her very core.
"Well, 'little ol' Cassie'. Apparently 19 is too naïve to remember that bad old men are out there to put drugs in sweet little girls drinks. Such as the dark haired man behind you that has an eye on your butt." She widened her eyes and dropped the plastic cup to the floor, letting the water splash onto her legs, shocked. She shook her head to clear it a moment before putting her million-dollar smile back on. Kris smiled at her and brought her wrist, still in his grip, to his mouth and planted a small kiss on her fingers. Kris watched as the man got up and huffed away.
"Target spotted. Northeast corner. Aura is dark, but concealed to the best he could." Cassie gasped and tore her hand out of Kris's hand at the sudden appearance of her brother. He paid her no attention as he spoke to Kris. Kris didn't look at all fazed but nodded at her brother.
"Remember, goal is to get him out of the club for a chat. Aiden, you go chat with him. I'll be by the door and follow as soon as you get him outside." Aiden nodded and glanced at Cassie, flashing her a smile.
"Having fun, baby sister?" She huffed and blew a strand of hair out of her eye and stormed back onto the dance floor, feeling Kris's burning eyes follow her as she went. Cursing Kris for getting her aroused, she picked her next dance victim and danced with him, imagining she was torturing Kris with the same dance. The man trailed his hand up and down her curves.
Enjoying the beat of the music she opened her eyes and saw Aiden talking to a man. The man glanced over her way, smiled and winked at her. Aiden paid no attention to it, but the man followed Aiden out. She shivered, something told her it was out of disgust rather than attraction. Slight sickness washed over her and she felt a bit dizzy. She put her hand on the chest of her dance partner. He got the hint and moved on as she stumbled back to the bar and asked for a bottle of water this time. She trailed the water bottle onto her skin, cooling her down. She slowly felt better but decided to take a small walk outside to cool off.
After talking, and a tad of flirting, with the bouncer, she walked outside and was greeted with the cool winter air. She welcomed the coolness on her sweat-glossed skin. She walked down the stairs of the club onto the sidewalk when she saw three men in what seemed to be a heated argument. She stared and the man facing towards her saw her and stared right into her eyes. An intense pressure was in her skull and she slammed her eyes shut as nausea waved over her.
'Relax, Cassandra.' She gasped as the deep sensually soft voice entered her brain and she fought harder until she heard a slight pop in her head. The pressure seemed to be gone, but she was dizzy. She sat on the stairs and held her head in her hands. She felt better after a little bit and got up, casting a quick glance to see the men were in a much more peaceful mood, recognizing Kris's blond hair and Aiden's brown hair, then made her way back inside to sit at the bar.
Her thoughts felt somehow coveted. As if whatever she thought was not her thoughts anymore. She relaxed at the bar and held a small conversation with the girl sitting next to her until she felt a hand on her shoulder. She smiled and turned towards him, and stopped dead in her tracks. She saw the man from outside. His eyes were burning into her. A lazy smile cocked on his face. He would have been the most attractive man she's met, with beautiful brown hair and blue eyes, with the body of a Greek God, except for the pit of a bad feeling in her stomach. She felt nauseated again.
"How do you do. I've heard a lot about you, Cassandra." She swallowed hard, opened her mouth to say something, but she couldn't form words. Her head was cloudy. Her vision started to malfunction on her, she thought, because it seemed like black smoke covered this guy. She was getting more and more light headed when he suddenly removed his hand and stepped back. She felt like she could breathe and things slowly returned to normal and she realized the Kris was afar, watching the man closely. He sent a smile Kris's way, and nodded his head at Cassie before walking away.
Cassie looked up with panic in her eyes at Kris and he leaned over and said something in Aiden's ear while he was flirting with some girl. Aiden snapped her head and looked at Cassie hard. He hurriedly dismissed himself from the girl and rushed to Cassie while she took a few breaths.
"What happened?" He grabbed her hands and looked into her eyes with his brow furrowed. He then flipped a wrist over and checked her pulse. She took a few breaths.
"I'm not sure... I went outside and then he looked at me and I felt really dizzy and sick and so-." He looked up with such a fierce look that she stopped.
"You went outside? He looked at you? Did you feel dizzy before he looked at you?" She started to panic at his tone of voice. She just stuttered for a moment, unable to determine whom her brother was angry at when Kris whispered to Aiden again. Aiden stood up straight and nodded.
"Come on, sweetheart. Let's go home. You look absolutely beat." She nodded and grabbed Kris's hand and didn't let on that her knees were wobbly. She felt like she was going to collapse but didn't want to give anything more away to worry these two men anymore than they already were. Once she was in the back seat of the car, she felt her mind get foggy again but she welcomed it and fell asleep.
