Vincent
Vincent Duncan was on his way home from school with his headphones blaring loudly. School had been long and torturous and Vincent couldn't wait to get home.
He looked at his iPhone for the time. It was 2:40pm on the dot. His little sister would be getting out of school soon.
A grin stretched across his face. Vincent loved his little sister with all his heart. He couldn't wait to see her and ask her about school.
Minutes later, Vincent opened the door to his home and walked inside, closing the door behind him. He took a moment to look around and nodded. Home, sweet home. He thought to himself.
Vincent made his way to his room and tossed his red and black jansport backpack on his bed. He looked over to his nightstand and stared at the picture of him, his mother and his little sister.
Vincent's mom was very pretty and her dark wavy hair framed her caramel skinned face perfectly. His mother was away on a business trip in Florida and wouldn't be back for another three days. He missed his mother and couldn't wait till she came him. They always went somewhere fun whenever she came home from a business trip.
Vincent shook his head and pulled himself from the thought. It was almost time to pick up his sister from school. He grabbed some clothes from his closet and headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
After he showered and clothed himself, he looked himself over in the mirror in his room. His black curly hair was wild on top his head in a messy fro. His dark, brown eyes showed kindness and intelligence, and went well with his light skin tone.
He wore a black Element t-shirt and black levi skinny jeans. Along with his black Vans.
Vincent flexed in the mirror. He chuckled to himself. He wasn't really muscular. He was skinny actually. But he was toned and not weak at all.
He heard a knock on the front door. Vincent figured it was the neighbor coming to make sure he made it home. He left his room and went to open the door.
"Hello Ms. Mayble" He answered with a smile.
The women at the door smiled and said, "Hello Vincent."
Ms. Mayble was a nice, sweet woman in her early thirties. She lived across the street and would cheek up on Vincent and his sister while his mother was away.
Ms. Mayble held out a chocolate cake to Vincent and said, "I baked it fresh today. For you and Sophia."
Vincent took the cake happily. "Thank you Ms. Mayble. Can't wait to dig in."
"Save some for your sister." She said messing up his already messy hair.
"No promises." He said with a grin.
The women shook her head and laughed. "You be good and take care of your sister, okay?"
"Yes ma'am." He answered, nodding. She didn't need to tell him to take care of his sister. He was going to do that now and forever.
With a smile and goodbye the woman headed back to her own home across the street.
Vincent closed the door and walked into the kitchen, setting the cake down on the counter. He checked the time on his iPhone. 3:15pm. Time to pick up Sophie from school.
He grabbed his skateboard and headed out to pick up his little sister.
A minutes later, as Vincent was skating up the sidewalk, he spotted his little sister waiting for him outside the school. He hopped off his board and made his way to Sophia.
The little girl was leaning against the school gates, with a book in hand and her pink backpack slung over her shoulder.
Her very light skin looked almost white and her jet black hair fell in waves a bit past her shoulder. She wore a blue knee length skirt, with a white school blouse.
She looked up from her book as Vincent approached her and a smile lit her face.
"Vinnie boo!" She said using the nickname their mother gave him and wrapping her arms around him.
"Hey Soph." He said smiling and hugging her. "How was school?"
The little girl looked up at him. "It was okay. The class was a bit too slow, today."
"It's slow everyday according to you." He said smiling at her. His sister was really smart, and was a fast learner. This was her answer to that question every time.
Sophia shrugged then grinned. "Can I ride your skateboard big bro? Please?"
Vincent nodded and gave the skateboard to his sister. "Don't fall." He warned. "Because if you do, I'll laugh."
Sophia nodded and grinned. "If I fall your piggybacking me home." She said.
"Alright." Vincent agreed. "But if you don't fall I'll let you have the cake Ms. Mayble baked for us."
Sophia's eyes turned wide at the mention of cake. "Cake?" She repeated.
Vincent nodded. "Yup. chocolate." He said walking ahead of her.
Sophia squealed. "You are so on!"
Vincent laughed. Oh, he loved his sister. He would always protect her. No matter what.
