Chapter 9

Corey was sleeping with his back against the wall and his head propped to one side.

He looked uncomfortable but he needed sleep and that was the best position he could get in.

Panuleon watched him with sorrow filled eyes. His chest throbbed with pain as his limbs were beginning to ache.

He needed so desperately to touch his soulmates skin and to feel his warmth.

He wondered why the demons were doing this to them. But he knew they'd be keeping them apart to see how long they'll last until it became too unbearable.

It was so hard to keep in the cries and the emotion. He was so sad but very good at hiding it. He had to stay strong for Corey.

Just then, the door burst open, instantly waking up his soulmate.

Corey looked around in a panic but quickly remembered where he was.

They both turned to see two demons walking in, carrying two people.

Corey looked towards his soulmate as they thought the same thing. Was this the other couple?

They continued to watch as the Demon rested Oliver next to Corey and started handcuffing his wrists and connecting them to chains on the wall.

Vinny was rested next to Panuleon as the same was done to him.

They were both still unconscious and would be for a good few hours.

The Demons didn't say anything or looked at anyone as they casually walked out, slamming the door behind them.

Corey looked up to Oliver, he was out cold.

"Do you think this is them?" He asked Panuleon who was inspecting Vinny.

"Yes, he's a vampire," Panuleon said.

Corey took his gaze to Vinny.

He had no idea that Vampires did exist until a few weeks ago when Panuleon opened up about the two worlds and the war.

"I can't believe Vampires are real," He said, wondering if the fantasies were true about them having fangs, drinking people's blood, hating sunlight and garlic.

"Is he a Vampire?" Corey asked, referring to Oliver.

"No, he's human. Like you" Panuleon was feeling quite fearful, now that these boys were here.

What was going to happen now that the demons had their prize possessions?

Panuleon did feel like he was just an object in the eyes of those hell-hounds. To them, they weren't living people with feelings, they were dummies and a white canvas for them to splash their experiments on.

"Corey" Panuleon said gently. "I know it's uncomfortable but try to get more sleep."

He looked exhausted.

Corey nodded and brought a hand up to rub his eyes, only to flinch at the pain from when the demon stamped on it.

His knuckles were badly bruising and it hurt for him to bend his fingers.

He was worried for the person sitting next to him. If he's human, he'll most likely get hurt too.

"Night" He sighed, not wanting time to continue.

He knew when these boys wake up, it'll either be more chaos or more waiting.

But for what?

* * * * *

Almost three hours had passed until Corey woke up again.

His neck ached, his head pounded and his body hurt.

He opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was Panuleon, staring back. This should've warmed his heart but it brought more sorrow, knowing that he couldn't touch him.

The other couple was still out cold and nothing had changed.

"Good morning," Panuleon said. He wasn't sure if it was the middle of the night or the middle of the day, but he needed to greet his soulmate with normal things.

"Morning" Corey yawned as he sat forwards and slowly stretched.

He couldn't wait to stand up and stretch his legs, but the chains are not long enough.

He then slowly reached over and carefully picked up the jug of water. It was still quite full and he wasn't being too greedy with it, knowing it would have to last him a little while.

He felt better now that he wasn't hungry or thirsty but the pain in his chest from being apart from his angel was really starting to take its toll.

He wondered if the other couple had exactly the same bond or if theirs was different. They had come from a different world although, they looked the same as people in his world.

He liked how Vinny wore the clothing that made him fit into the stereotype of a vampire.

His shirt, smart black jeans and old-fashioned waistcoat definitely made him stand out. Black hair and dark colours also made him look the part.

Just then, Oliver and Vinny moved their heads.

Panuleon looked as the Vampire began to frown.

Corey looked up to Oliver as he also frowned.

"They're starting to wake," Panuleon said, bracing himself.

He didn't know if they would freak out and attack or if they were aware of the situation.

He knew the angel Jeduthun had watched over them but he didn't know if they shared the information about the war or not.

Vinny moved his hands but the noise of chains scraping along concrete stopped him.

His head was ringing and his whole body felt drained of energy.

His eyelids were so heavy, it was hard for him to open them, but he slowly brought his hands up to his eyes and rubbed them.

Oliver was doing the same but he felt a little more out of it than Vinny.

He still needed a few minutes to become aware of his surroundings.

Vinny then flickered his eyes open to see a foreign view, except for his soulmate, leaning against the opposite wall.

He suddenly sat forwards, making the angel tense.

"Oliver?" He asked as the recent events flooded his mind.

His eyes skimmed the stranger sitting next to his soulmate as he quickly scanned the room.

His eyes then fell on the other stranger, sitting next to him.

He didn't know what he expected, but this wasn't it.

"Oliver," He said again, trying to drift him out of his dreams. His chest hurt as their bond was way past the limit. It throbbed and ached but he was more concentrated on whether his soulmate was okay or not.

Oliver could hear his voice but it was distant.

He frowned again as his senses became clearer.

His chest began to throb as the recent events also flooded his thoughts.

That made him panic and force his tired eyes open.

The first thing he saw was Vinny, but the surroundings were strange and the fact that he was chained to the wall really alarmed him.

"Vinny?" He croaked, feeling himself starting to stress out.

He sat forwards, making Corey jump which brought his attention to him.

"Who are you? Where are we, Vinny?" He asked as he pulled on his chains.

"Oliver, calm down. Are you hurt?" Vinny asked while watching him closely.

"Um, no I'm okay. Are you?" He asked again as he took a breath and sat back against the wall.

"I'm okay too."

Vinny's deep voice was able to smooth out his worried thoughts but he was more concerned as to why he was chained next to a complete stranger.

"Who are you?" He asked as he looked at the boy. He looked the same age but he was small and his head only came up to Oliver's shoulder.

"I'm Corey, that's my soulmate Panuleon," Corey said. He didn't want this person to freak out.

Oliver then looked to Vinny, knowing they weren't a threat.

They were the couple Jed and Zachariah had been talking about.

"I'm Oliver and this is my soulmate, Vinny," He said.

"It's great to meet you at last, but I hoped it wouldn't be like this," Panuleon said, trying not to be intimidated by Vinny's glare.

Why did he look like that?

"It's nice to meet you, Corey," Oliver said as he looked down to him.

"It's nice to meet you too" He smiled but it was hard, considering the amount of heartache that was flowing through him.

Vinny didn't say anything to Panuleon, he's just too unsocial for that kind of thing. Plus, his mood was terrible now that he's experiencing so much sadness.

"Vinny says hello," Oliver said to Panuleon, who didn't quite understand but smiled anyway.

Vinny watched Oliver, knowing that now they were awake things would only get worse for them. How long will they be apart for?

"Would you like some water?" Corey asked.

"Yes please, thanks" Oliver replied before picking it up.

He didn't realise he was so thirsty but he knew he couldn't drink too much, the demons probably won't be kind enough to take their needs into consideration.

They all then sat in silence, feeling the pain from being separated.

Oliver wanted to distract everyone's minds by asking questions, which is exactly what Corey wanted to do.

Vinny would've rather sat in silence and Panuleon was trying to sit in a more comfortable position.

They were chained close to each other and it was already annoying the Vampire.

He sighed and leant his head back against the wall. He took his glare to Corey, not wanting to intimidate him but his frown was not leaving his face.

"Vinny," Oliver said, seeing how Corey shifted uncomfortably. "Smile" He mouthed so nobody heard.

"I can't" Vinny grumbled.

Oliver knew it was because they were passed their limit and he knew if he didn't keep himself positive, he'll probably break down.

"Relax your face" He mouthed again, making Vinny roll his eyes in amusement but somewhat soften his gaze.

"Do you have fangs?" Corey then asked, making the Vampires frown appear almost immediately.

Panuleon showed a small smile as he watched his soulmate. He understood that he liked to ask a lot of questions and it was always the questions he wouldn't ask himself but was intrigued to know.

"Yes," Vinny said, trying not to show his attitude. He knew this couple have most likely been through hell and there was no need for him to be so angry around them. But being apart from Oliver for this long made it impossible to be calmer.

Corey opened his mouth to ask something else, but Oliver stepped in.

"Why do you have gold in your eyes?" He asked. Vinny really wasn't in the mood to answer questions and he was thankful that Oliver saved him. Although Corey seemed nice and maybe when they get out of here he'll let him interrogate him.

Corey looked up to Oliver as he thought of a good way of answering.

When he connected his bond with Panuleon, it came with an unusual power that was awoken within himself.

It shined first when the demons tried killing his parents, many, many years ago.

When he get's incredibly angry or he focuses on it for so long, it'll reveal itself.

It takes over his body, soul and mind and he becomes incredibly strong, fearless and brave. But the last time he showed it, it got out of hand and he nearly lost himself.

He hasn't revealed it since.

"I have an unusual power thing. It came when I connected the bond with Panuleon" Just for Corey to say his name made his heart beat faster. "Sometimes, my eyes get completely gold when I show a strong emotion so don't be alarmed if that happens"

Oliver nodded.

"That's quite strange," He said truthfully, but it was.

Corey only had thin gold circles flowing around the pupils of his eyes and the rest of it was blue. So if you were far away, you wouldn't see it.

"So, is that normal in your world?" Oliver asked.

As the boys began to talk, Vinny and Panuleon watched their soulmates.

Panuleon could sense that Vinny was not a very chatty person and would get more annoyed with him if he did try and talk to him.

So they sat in silence.

The demons were monitoring their progress and they were still going with the plan to keep them apart.

Maybe they'll pull Panuleon and Corey further away, knowing that would be unbearable for them.

They had started their experimental stage. They had to figure everything out about the boys bond first before they started any serious changes.

They couldn't wait to start that stage and somehow attempt to use their powerful bonds for their own greedy needs.
